Great video. It's clear you are having fun with Tripp, so I'm not sure why leenis (debbie downer) has a problem with how you're rewarding. This is one happy dog! :)
Thanks! We sure do have fun. :-) Tripp is my first agility dog, so we're learning the sport together, and the intricacies of training it. We've come a long way in the past year and have adjusted training methods some (leenis was right, toy training did get him moving better for some things) and hope to start competing this summer!
Why are you not rewarding you dog with a tug of war, tennis balls etc. ? This is the exact way of getting a slow moving dog on the track, does not look professional training at all. Not funny. The training is fussy and not exactly concentrating on certain things, thinking that this is only the 7th time the dog is training. Argh!
I am rewarding with mostly click & treat here. We are in training for competition, so of course we are being fussy on doing things right! Fun is the top priority, but after that precision is slightly more important than speed right now - although Tripp is usually very fast! He is doing great for a puppy!! And as you can see he absolutely loves agility!
