If a video is not ALREADY available in HQ, you can NOT make it HQ using the URL trick.

If a video is not ALREADY available in HD, you can NOT make it HD using the URL trick.

If a video IS already available in HD (by clicking the button) you CAN use the URL trick. Same for HQ.

i have the same problem but i think i can figure it out....

it means your connection is not fast enough so change back your settings and you will be able to watch HQ vids but not upload them (but you wouldnt be able to upload hq vids anyway cos of your connection) please subscribe to my account :D hope i helped.

If you'd like to have visitors view crystal clear videos in YouTube, just add this to the end of your URL: &fmt=18 This will default visitors to the high quality format. ALSO, for YouTube embedded videos you can add &ap=%2526fmt%3D18 to the embed code just before the &hl= in both embed URLs. This will default to high quality viewing.

here's a tip then if you have filters in wmm (never used it) try some gaussian blur on vhs imports, it smooths out the vhs 'look' - but only use a tiny bit, like 1% - i used to do that in Vegas - 720 btw is fine to get youtube HD

Well, I'm capturing from VHS using Windows Movie Maker and uploading it on youtube. But I think you're right since it doesnt give me the 1080 pixel option, it goes high as like 720. Thanks for your help again.

It's got to be a setting on your computer. Try adjusting the size of your screen to 1280 x 1024, for example. You may also have an older version of Flash player too.

the HD link? Upload a video with the an image resolution of 1280X720. This is a 16:9 HD format, so if you shot standard def, even if it's 16:9, it won't work.

I've noticed that when I set my playback to always play in HQ, it will sometimes default back to normal quality. It doesn't seem to want to "stick". I've also been having trouble the last couple of days with High Quality to even show up on my videos, even though my settings haven't changed when editing. Anyone else experiencing this?

I've found a post in the Help forums about the HQ bug- if it is a bug, but others are having the same problem. I've probably uploaded 30+ test videos since this started (2/2/09 for me) and still have not gotten the HQ link to show up. If I find the solution, I'll update you.

I use the same render settinsg and only about 30% of my videos get the HQ setting after youtube encodes - Youtube have a problem, that is the truth, there is no way to guarantee HQ, and it's a complete time waster for people trying to deliver decent original content consistantly. Sure, i can upload HD, but some users might not be able to stream it & of course the upload takes ages

I only use Windows Movie Maker..

After you have selected save movie to my computer..the 2nd screen will appear giving you 3 options..

1) Best Quality for playback on my computer.

2)Best to fit file size (which is usually selected anyway)

3)other settings..

Ok.. use the #2 which should be selected anyway and max out the file size using the up arrows..(to the left of the MB & KB option)

This will make your video High Quality when u upload.
