i've got this shit video card... I'm so pissed!! I can't run any game, a Touhou runs at 45 fps!!!! When I finish school exams, i'll make my new computer (videocard - for now - Asus GT440)
i agree with the others - this system is still half-decent. my netbook has a 900mhz celeron, 1gb of ram, and a 16gb SSD with video probably not much better than what you're using, and i've got ubuntu 9.04 on it (not the netbook remix). post a video of everything you're running on a computer weaker than my netbook and then i'll be impressed
@surikan1 uh... considering what else my netbook uses for hardware, the 16gb ssd would be considered amazing. 16gb is PLENTY of space for a computer that doesn't do downloading, doesn't store media, and doesn't play games.
since my last post i'm now running debian with LXDE and all i can say is the performance difference is amazing, and i'm only using about 2-3gb total of my ssd, and about 55mb of ram when fully booted
@chinwildc i try ubuntu 10.04 on my 733MHz intel pentium 3 packard bell designed for windows 98 dude it run super oh yeah its a crappy graphic card so i cant use desktop efects like compiz and watever
And ubuntu is the most stable and usable (in time) OS for this type of configuration... But he as a lot of problems with new Hardware, like 9800GT etc...
not really a "cheap" system.. tried with crunchbang 9.04 (openbox version of Ubuntu) on a P3 733 with 192 mb RAM.. just work! The Gimp starting in 40s.. great! for information, my dual-core laptop with aT7200 à 2ghz/2gb RAM load GImp in 45s... with Vista!
as i can see in your widget your system use too much cpu...you should set it better...your hardware configuration with linux on is usefull for others ten years!!!!lol
I have an ATI radeon HD2600 pro card but I can't enable desktop effects or compiz fuzion on ubuntu 9.04 (with ubuntu 8.10 i had compiz fuzion with the proprietary driver)
thats because you might have an old Ati or Nvidia graphic card which is supported by Ubuntu. Though my drivers for my shared graphics are not very good and could only get 2D working.
He i am running the vesa driver but you could check Openchrome drivers. For me 2D worked but i don`t thin that you gonna get 3D working. Google openchrome or check the VIA linux Portal to install Drivers
Just add a panel set the properties not to expand, autohide make it bigger about 70 pixels and set to transperent etc. Add the Application Launcher to the panel and you have something like a dock.
Yeah really..this is fine for an Ubuntu system. I`m on an old AMD 3500 single core 939..lol No need to upgrade HW yet. DDR1 still has the best timings. If anything, I`m gonna get a newer HDD. Maybe a solid state for the OS.
Thats not a bad system idiot my computer only has 512MB of RAM, 80GB Hard Drive, 2.66 GHZ Intel Pentium Processor, and 64MB of Intel Graphics Card now thats a cheap system
esta re bueno tu escriorio :) hoy encima sale la version final de ubuntu 9.04, aunque es de mi preferencia Kubuntu ^_^ como se llama esa dock de arriba??
