shit happens dude, my friend has a boat on lake michigan, he had a new searay 38 that he boughtg, brand new!! and his port engine was fucking up.and btw and i have a boat and jetski pn lake michigan (winthrop harbor kenosha area. and i have a 2001 kawasaki 1100 stx di and its fun, it sits in the water and i nevr had any water in the bilge.
Hello, I have a kawasaki ultra 250x 2007 and I have a problem. I can not go faster than 20 miles a hour and 5000 rpm. The engine runs very well. It could be what? Thank you!
@stopyourbitchin Thank you, but the battle is pretty much over I just have this video up here to try and educate my youtube friends that kawasaki warranty system is full of crooks
@10txram It was never ran in salt water I live on lake Michigan I always ran it in freshwater 100% of the time and trailered it home and flushed the system with the garden hose
you probably never flushed it out i flush my jetskis out after every ride and never had a problem the water damage is probably from saltwater eating away at your engine any person with a jetski should tell yu tht i hav a kawaski ultra 250x nd a stx 12f
@eagleeyez006 What do you know? why even waste time with your "probably" comments... I flushed it every time I rode and it was never ran in salt water I live on Lake Michigan and always rode there, Everyone needs to face it Kawasaki's Ultra 250's and 260's have major engine flaws (mainly the piston rings) that will cause huge engine troubles/total failures, I grantee you have the gas-in-oil issues that every 250 Ive ever seen has and either dont know it or wont admit it
you have to change engine oil frequently the boost is forcing the fuel back to crank case ( needs to be changed at max 20 hrs ),,,,,,,boat is fast and reliable and sorry sea doo guys faster and better in chop
@marthazuritaposadas I think the problem is in the supercharger. I had a friend with the same damage, but it was caused by the belt coming off the supercharger. The warrenty didn't cover it, but thats because he raced it "25". I currently have a 160 same engine, but no supercharger. I lost #2 piston at 80hrs. ojr[ewiov,[i[ ,[c[[ cg rgepo,;l ,krogfijpor4joigrtvi!!! Pisted me off too!!!!
Im Genuine and not an idiot.I have allways wanted a jetski, and the lusting has bever died(Im now 38).Every year i look on ebay, then get discouraged by machines that have had major engine work done with so little hours .From what ive seen as well its all makes!A builder i knew had one for sale and I said i would be interested-he actually put me off the purchase because he knew me,he said the thing was a bloody nightmare from day 1! Please can some one tell me the truth! Can they be reliable?
@BogusBoy2121 ship your boat to me I will make it fast and reliable. My 95 highly modified retired race 750 zxi. is faster than my 98 GP 760 yamaha and my 2000 GP 800 by so much much you wouldn't believe my words. I am old school but am looking for blown 4 strokes to buy. So you guys complaining and wanting out get ahold of me i may be interested in your problem ski.
Kawasaki need to look at this clip and learn! i am on the market to buy a ski this week and this clip helps me steer away from Kawasaki! thanks for posting this UltraXryder
@UltraXryder i've had a polaris jet-ski for maybe 9 years or so now(polaris doesn't even make water vehicles anymore) and the only problem i've had was a broken driveshaft b/c my idiot self kept it floored after a nice sized jump. :D. got a new one and it's been great ever since. just had to weld the old one and now i have an extra! :D. i hate kawasaki...
feel for you man DONT LET THE BASTARDS GRIND YOU DOWN if you keep hassling them they will sort things for you just to make you go away .....i own a yamaha gp800r and its bomb proof so mayb look at the yams for your next ski ;-))
Well, going on four months now... current bill is $3,200 all parts and labor. Sent the head to Kawasaki HQ and they said it had pits likely from rust in the engine. They are insisting that I caused "water damage" to the engine but my dealer said there was no evidence of that. It is a 2007 Ultra 250X and only has 40 hours on it. It was never abused and garaged both winters. Was there too much moisture in my garage??? Kawasaki HQ did manage to replace my damaged head with a free used one sa
As a mechanic, i have found that the break in procedure is crap, run it in fast and hard, always be sure to warm it up properly tho.
As it is working hard high combustion pressures forces the piston rings hard against the cylinder bore, thus making a better seal by removing the small minute imperfections in the bore and ring surfaces, giving better compression and ring sealing, and less blow by of the piston rings.
@the1eel It was not hydrolocked, the tech to tore my engine down confirmed that by pointing out that there is absolutely no evidence of water ever being in this engine.... it was a casting flaw in the c-rod and or c-rod bearing failure
i recently had a connecting rod snap in my RX-X, the end of the rod that stayed connected to the crank ate my bottom end case like pacman so i know how you feel,
things like this dont happen to just kawasaki owners. I had a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Laramie ($40k truck) In march of 2007 (still under the 5 year warantee) My oil pump shorted out with no warning and i immediately lost all oil to the heads of my engine. The cams were bouncing around under the valve covers and Dodge turns around and tells me it was engine sludge. All of my oil changes were not only up to date, but done by a Dodge dealer. Goes to show ya!
There are so many things that could have contributed to this anything from a Monday production to error by owner but one thing is for sure it's broke. Good luck !
@UltraXryder I work for a Kawasaki dealer, I can tell you that your not the only person having problems with the ultra. They are just headaches, if you have an extended warranty or existing warranty, bring it to your local dealer and see if they can fix it under warranty. You may have to fight with Kawi a little bit then if all goes well in that battle, get it fixed and sell it then get a Yamaha SHO or VXR, they are by far the best PWC's on the market.
@Polybun People like you make me laugh your fact less ramble and childish name calling make you feel like you won the dispute here
Answer me this you buy a brand new 11,200$ Kawasaki Jetski and 5 months later the engine blows up and Kawasaki refuses to cover the 6,000$ damages under warranty and their only argument is simply "we dont see a manufactures defect"
And you are now stuck with a 6,000$ repair bill
How about this you pay my repair bill and Ill "pony up"
For one its not a bike, secondly the rings do suck its well known in many countries, thirdly my BOAT maintenance was by the books by a professional....When you dont have the facts and you make a comment like that you just come off as stupid
@phatrides222000 Hey, phatrides, you need to go to school to learn how to spell so you don't look stupid when you post comments on youtube. hay fatrids u ned 2 go 2 skool 2 lern how to spel so u dont look like a dumbshit.
you went over the RPM it was designed to operate at i can see that the piston broke 1st then the con-rod was slammed into the block. lucky they have not got you for defamation
@sabertooth241 Nope you are wrong, and there are many others out there that experienced problems like mine with rod or rod bearing issues, Mine being the most catastrophic because when mine chose to let go it was around 65mph
My 2007 Ultra 250 is also having engine problems and is at the dealer now. Low compression and a problem with the #3 Cylinder. Valves seem ok but needs new rings and possibly pistons or more. It will cost $300 just to tear it apart and diagnose.
Sorry to here about your kawasaki .Typical dealers responce they would have been nice to you when you bought it but when things go wrong they will come out with all the excuses under the sun rather than pay out .The dealer is not paynig for the repairs Kawasaki should . As for all the nagative comments what goes around comes around .
there are models that kawa makes that are reliable and this one seems to be faulty or maybe just your particularily. but yamaha honor their warranties for sure. that's why i always stay yamaha. kawa made some great reliable bikes for sure like the kdx , ninjas,kx's etcc.
I feel your pain. If you have record of having your machine in for this complaint Id say you have a good case. Id hire a attorny and take those A holes to court . Sounds like you have some bad machanics and a dealer that doesnt want to take responsibility. As for those other Kawasaki people down there cursing you. Screw them. I own both a Kawasaki and a polaris. Dont care which brand I run as long as they run and the familys having fun....
I own a Kawasaki Dealership and I think you must have pissed the dealer off in the first place. Kawasaki is hands down the best machine you can own whether it be a Jet Ski, Motorcycle, ATV or Utility. Just check the resale values - typically 50% higher than a Honda or Yamaha equivalant. I can tell you one thing man - what happened to you happens at some point to all brands, types, makes, models, cars, tractors, trucks, boats, etc. Engines are never 100% problem free - EVER - Even if they're new
I have several kawasaki products from 1974 to 2003, street, and dirt(f11,f6,kx,zr,kxt, snowmobiles) I have never had any of these sort of problems-if this was a brand new machine and had gas in the oil they should have done the lower end gaskets or replaced the motor. I bought new with honda ans the local shop and the shop I bought it from never questioned me they just fixed what was problem.
@spjuvR I took it to the dealer with that complaint and they said it was unfounded and normal for there to be a slight smell of gasoline in the motor oil, So even tho I suspected that was false I took their word for it because after all they are licensed marine motor techs, Come on here with all the name calling and you dont even have the facts to base anything on
Because kawa wouldnt do anything for me when I took it in and complained about the gas in oil problem so what else was I to do I tried to get it fixed and they wanted nothing to do with it because it would be a big high dollar repair
I had the same problem with the gas in motoroil problem here in germany. Every 8-10 hours oilchange. That spits me on. I called Kawasaki Germany and a offical Dealer. First they know nothing. But after 2 weeks of wating a very good answer is coming in from Kawasaki France-Belgium.
Kawasaki Germany did everything to fix this.
The offical dealer worked a bypass in and checked the engine specifications - and see that...no gas is in my oil now.
I can't believe that kawi won't cover this. I'm a mechanic at a Yamaha dealer who works on boats. If I worked on this one it would have been covered. Recently I repeatedly tested a supercharged boat which finally lead me to a bad one-way clutch connected to the supercharger. Yama covered everything. It even paid the dealer for work time. If I were you I would save EVERYTHING. Save as big a sample of the oil from the engine. Every bit of metal, no matter how small. Start being a pain to kawi.
I keep throwing a "OILP" code on my 250x and also I have horrible gas in oil problem , and also have horror able blow by my catch can is always full after a wot pass. TOns of 2007 owners have GIO problems.
don't know much about PWC's and jetski's, but kawai usually builds a solid engine. I have a Kawai 250 bike and I beat the living shit out of it, still going, need minor maintanence, but never had anyy problems with it.
I work at a kawasaki dealership and the 2007 ultra does not have a ton of recalls there are only 3 one is a water block off up front and the second is just check a fuel line to the fuel rail... i believe the third is just new sparkplugs... im not at work right now or i would check to make sure that is all... i have and ultra 250 and 260 and have had no problems with them.... my guess is you havent done the recomended maintenance for them... kawasaki hasnt had a problem with 80% your full of shit
@kawiforlife You forgot the throttle trigger recall, and I had some ECU key issue too and the 80% number I am speaking of is the amount of these 250's that are plagued with the gas in oil prob that SHOULD be recalled but Kawa is a garbage company that would rather screw the people that own these pos ski's, I also had an exhaust water box prob, and my intercooler had a bad water leak that flooded the hull and nearly sunk my ski! So ya I am full of shit
I know A LOT about boats and pwc's,I've been riding on my Kawasaki's since I could remember, yesterday my new '08 Ultra Lx went 57 mph.I love to go tubing behind it but I just bought a brand new Sea-doo 230 Challenger(ski boat) and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! ,but how old was the jet ski, did you still have it under warranty?OR you might've not let the gas fumes get out causing an explosion
Its true i got the same problem they damn make me pay too in my country they fucking give me only 6month warranty and i finished my 1st month and 1st and 4th piston broke! and 6 of my friends sold them we all bought seadoo we are happy that they do take good care of us and they make us feel we are important and support us the way as i bought a Ferrari. screw Kawasaki it suxxxxxxxxxx

Your pissing in the wind there matey..I own a Z750 for 4 years now and all i did is change the oil and oil filter periodicly. And offcourse the chain and sprocket...Runs like a champ..The battery never went down in 4 years not even winter.Never used any choke ..Amazing bikes.
Simple defect my ass! Face it, you ragged it from new and now you got a grudge, Abuse anything (even slightly) from new and you'll pay the price. !!FACT!!
No you could not be more wrong, I broke it in by the books and it was never abused there is nothing factual about your comment at all, It was all based on assumptions, How can you tell me "FACT" that i didnt break it in properly or that I abused it when you never were with me when I rode my ski?
i got a 1990 550sx stock never bin apart still running like a champ. i happen to love kawi's 2 stroke engines there some of the most reliable in the business.
@easts8er Yes I understand not all of their products are crap, but this model had alot of problems and numerous recalls in the first few months after it was released, but the main point of my video is they do not protect their costumers with warranty coverage
Looks like an over rev situation. Nobody warranties abuse.
People think that because something has a warranty, they have the right to beat the shit out of the equipment and go crying bullshit when something goes wrong.
Fess up! You beat it and are now pissed at Kawasaki since they won't save your ass.
@KaosracingCanada hey they are jet skis ok they get beat up, u think it is a over rev, so what are you saying that kawaskis do not have rev limiters just like every other jet ski i remember my old xp had a rev limiter, when something like this happens it better be under warranty, now maybe if he tricked the motor out then of course not, but stock come on,
you idiots know nothing,.. sure it might been a defect,. but a "simple defect" wouldnt cause that much damage unless you were an idiot,.. second,. I own 3 kawasakis and they have paid for themselves more than 1nce. stop posting this bogus shit on youtube,. go complain to your mommy that your toy broke,.
A connecting rod snapped at full speed around 7900 RPS's, and that can easily cause this much damage, also I wouldn't consider a rod snapping a simple defect, and I am not saying all of Kawa's products are bad I am saying that they sometimes will have problems and when they do Kawa refuses warranty coverage
Also how would you feel shelling out 6k for a new engine on a 5 month old ski that was STILL UNDER WARRANTY!!!!????....If you or Kawa would pay my repair costs of 6k ill remove the video
Probably should have gotten a beginner jet ski cuz obviously your just learning!!!!!!!!!!! lololololololololololololololololol you broke it cuz u suck at driving!
Sigh.... idiots like you that know nothing about my situation and just assume everything make me laugh, For one this is not the first PWC Ive owned and secondly it was a defect in the connecting rod and/or rod bearing
this model had 5 recalls in the first 4 months it was released a couple other MAJOR problems that should have been recalled but were to much for Kawa to handle so they just sat back and let the owners of these garbage skis deal with
i liked the Kawasaki because it had 250 hp, and i was thinking of buying one. but it looks like that 4cyl cant handle the horsepower. now i have moved on and im looking at the Yamaha & sea doo. thanks for the heads up UltraXryder you have probably saved me a lot of money.
yeah man, i had a brand new 07 kx 250f shred a crank bearing and split the cases and kawasaki covered it, but the dealer didn't like my gandfather so he put it in the back corner until we called kawi and kawi called them, but my mom and dad had prior experince with kawi and knew some people there. but i don't blame you at all for being mad. i would have suggested maybe putting some new rings in it though.
I was just about to buy a used 07 ultra but after viewing this I know why the person was selling them for so low...Ill be looking for something else now Thanks for posting this!!
Engine just blew on my 08 zx6r. My engine looks almost identical to yours. Kawa wont cover any of it. They said it was from over revving the engine. The engine only has 400 miles on it. Im gonna get a lawyer and sue the shit outta them. I still owe 10,000 on this thing and its totaled.
Every week it more and more people come on here and say they have had a identical incident with Kawasaki... Kawasaki seems to enjoy denying warranty coverage
Good luck with your law suit and please come back here and let me know how it ends up!
I am glad you understand where I am comming form...I am not trying to say all Kawasaki is shit, I am just trying to warn people that they dont back their products with their warranty when something happens
hey bro. sorry to here about your ride. i had a similar problem with my integra with a b18b1 engine. eventually it jus blew up. but i just gotta ask. what is the name of the soung played in the video? its freakin awesome
i just got a 2003 Kawasaki 360 2WD for wheeler and it burned 2 L of oil i only went 7 kmh on it i took it to school and back it turns out the rings fell off and the piston fuck its self over .ther rebuilding it for free its been over 2 week thoug :(
So it seems Kawasaki came seem to get their piston rings right as I had major gas in oil problems because the piston rings on my ski refused to seal which allowed gasoline to get into the crank case which is what led my total engine failure
hopefully u do know that engines have a break in period, and if not done, you can ruin the engine by taking it to high revs do to heat + short metallic space= metal expanding and boom.... just saying..... at any rate, that sux bro, that's y i stick to buying used xD
Time to get a really good V-6 with direct shaft to impellar seen it done....put twin turbo on that beast....blow away anything ---SEA DOOS any of them...suckers put out 400HP
It wouldnt be too hard to do really, All you need to do is find a inboard V-6 and change out the pistions and a few other minor things so that it would be able to handle the boost
The only hard part would be fitting it in the hull you prob would need to do tons of fiberglass work
It's been done saw it about two years ago---Not the big problem it's Jet Pump that is what slows all JET SKIs down ---take a look at the business end of Fountain boat..thats why Geico flys not the turbines it's the CAT drives and the PROPS...
don't buy a fuckin volkswagen neither. my friend buyed one he drove it for a little more than one year car had 28 000 kilo on it and the tranny blew up they didnt cover it they said it was 'abuse' they fuckers he never abused is car. cost him over 4000$ for that shitty car , I always told him volkwagen was shit. he never listen me before that happend, now hes says its fuckin bullshit too loll DONT EVER BUY A VOLKSWAGEN !!!!!
i have 2 kawasaki X2's ,and they are 20 years old and the only maintenance they get is a pair of new sparkplugs and battery every 5 years, and a one minute run in the winter to lube the inside of the engine, and that's it, and they keep on going and going and going.........
it doesn't matter whatever you buy, a car, a jetski, a stereo set, because it's all the same shit. Back in the days they made quality that last a life time, but they discoverd that those products were to good, so people didn't have to buy everything new each 5 years, so those manufactures didn't make much money, because they didn't sell alot, so they stopped making quality and built crap these days, beause that way they see you every 5 year buying their crap instead of some quality in 20 years
yep I know evreything is like that. sucks indeed. check out the old Honda Accords CB7 (90 - 94) those car are indestructible they can do over 500 000 kilo without having a big repair . so sad they dont do the engines like before 95 all engine were good... stupid money thinking compagnies :(
The point I am trying to get across here is not that everything Kawasaki makes is poor because I am sure most of their products are well made but what I am trying to prove here is when something dose happen they do not stand behind it and leave the owner to pay for the repairs on my 6 month old ski
it looks like that they are affraid that it might be a design fault, and that they have to do a recall that could cost them alot of money. Anyway, here in holland we got something thats called the consumers union. Members can write them with their problems, and if they think your complaint is right, they will contact the one that you have trouble with, and in most casses it work, because no manufacturer or any business want negative publicity, so don't you have something the same were you live?
I am sure we here in the states have something like that Ill have to look into it, Also for your info this ski had 5 or 6 recalls on it all within the 6 months after it came out so I had to take it in 6 different times for recalls then the damn thing blew up on me
i'm kawasaki technician. sorry to see what happened. How many hours of use did you get from it before it blew up? Ad i'm not trying to be a dick like everyone else Did you baby it and not go up above 3 Grand the first bout 12 hours with it? Or hold it at a constant RPM? These are factors that will lessen engine life and greatly decide if it will blow up or not. From the look of the piston it was getting to much power without the needed time to break in
It had 53hrs on it when it blew, and I did the break in by the books/how my dealer advised me to which was the first 5hrs, but I actually did it for about 8hrs
I know all companies have their problems and stuff happens and thats not what I am upset about, I am upset about the fact that they refused to cover it under warranty!
im with you on this one ultraXryder my mate bought one of these POS and it blew on him it ingested water we didnt know how until i found the recall info early this morning.. if anyone knows anything about these ultra`s they know damn well they have problems and they will also know that there was a recall on this model because of a few separate issues.
Kawasaki is digging their own grave by not fixing it under warranty. I've owned two kawasaki's, but now I own a seadoo and went the whole season without turning a wrench.
I feel your pain, how do the rich become more rich...... by fucking hard working ppl like us, that's how. Kawasaki is no different to car and home insurance companies....who never want to pay out to the hard working middle class ppl.
I have Yam FX SHO....I don't know much in the way of Seadoo's but at least here in Australia, Yam backs them selves and pay out. I say go a Yammy.
But the Jetski had only 53hrs on it and was only a little more than 3 months old so it was well within the warranty coverage and they chose not to cover it under warranty
Oooo congrats Mr. Detective you found out I had minor bolt on mods on it....lol I never tired to cover that up
But by law the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (P.L. 93-637) it's a United States federal law that protects me in a case like this
Please study that law
It says that Kawasaki in this case must prove that the mods caused the problem but they did not they kept repeating "we dont see a manufacturers defect"
Sorry about your breakdown. I feel your pain, no matter what the circumstances! Just remember, being an asshole really doesn't help anyone. There is a saying "you catch more flies with honey". I've wrecked shit (not saying you did), told the dealer up front and they happily replaced it; I've experienced this many times. Good luck, and keep us updated, disregard the negative posts.

Sounds just like my situation mine had 53hrs on it, However your repair costs are lower
Dont back down go after them!
UltraXryder 1 year ago
As a mechanic, i have found that the break in procedure is crap, run it in fast and hard, always be sure to warm it up properly tho.
As it is working hard high combustion pressures forces the piston rings hard against the cylinder bore, thus making a better seal by removing the small minute imperfections in the bore and ring surfaces, giving better compression and ring sealing, and less blow by of the piston rings.

HYDROLOCKED.
Kawasaki 250 motors are quite advanced. Unfortunately, some owners are of the other end of the scale.....
the1eel 1 year ago
@the1eel It was not hydrolocked, the tech to tore my engine down confirmed that by pointing out that there is absolutely no evidence of water ever being in this engine.... it was a casting flaw in the c-rod and or c-rod bearing failure

things like this dont happen to just kawasaki owners.

And you are now stuck with a 6,000$ repair bill
How about this you pay my repair bill and Ill "pony up"

My 2007 Ultra 250 is also having engine problems and is at the dealer now. Low compression and a problem with the #3 Cylinder. Valves seem ok but needs new rings and possibly pistons or more. It will cost $300 just to tear it apart and diagnose.

I bought new with honda ans the local shop and the shop I bought it from never questioned me they just fixed what was problem.

Very good service from Kawasaki, very good work!

I work at a kawasaki dealership and the 2007 ultra does not have a ton of recalls there are only 3 one is a water block off up front and the second is just check a fuel line to the fuel rail... i believe the third is just new sparkplugs... im not at work right now or i would check to make sure that is all... i have and ultra 250 and 260 and have had no problems with them.... my guess is you havent done the recomended maintenance for them... kawasaki hasnt had a problem with 80% your full of shit
kawiforlife 1 year ago
@kawiforlife You forgot the throttle trigger recall, and I had some ECU key issue too and the 80% number I am speaking of is the amount of these 250's that are plagued with the gas in oil prob that SHOULD be recalled but Kawa is a garbage company that would rather screw the people that own these pos ski's, I also had an exhaust water box prob, and my intercooler had a bad water leak that flooded the hull and nearly sunk my ski! JPNoko941 1 year ago

3DPeter 1 year ago
yeah the old kawa where good but newer technology sometimes really sucks
beluga420 1 year ago
it doesn't matter whatever you buy, a car, a jetski, a stereo set, because it's all the same shit. Back in the days they made quality that last a life time, but they discoverd that those products were to good, so people didn't have to buy everything new each 5 years, so those manufactures didn't make much money, because they didn't sell alot, so they stopped making quality and built crap these days, beause that way they see you every 5 year buying their crap instead of some quality in 20 years
3DPeter 1 year ago
yep I know evreything is like that. sucks indeed. check out the old Honda Accords CB7 (90 - 94) those car are indestructible they can do over 500 000 kilo without having a big repair . so sad they dont do the engines like before 95 all engine were good... stupid money thinking compagnies :(
beluga420 1 year ago
The point I am trying to get across here is not that everything Kawasaki makes is poor because I am sure most of their products are well made but what I am trying to prove here is when something dose happen they do not stand behind it and leave the owner to pay for the repairs on my 6 month old ski
UltraXryder 1 year ago
it looks like that they are affraid that it might be a design fault, and that they have to do a recall that could cost them alot of money. Anyway, here in holland we got something thats called the consumers union. Members can write them with their problems, and if they think your complaint is right, they will contact the one that you have trouble with, and in most casses it work, because no manufacturer or any business want negative publicity, so don't you have something the same were you live?
3DPeter 1 year ago

Hey UltraXryder.....
Happy sailing Bro

As Ive said I know lemons happen and stuff breaks
But the Jetski had only 53hrs on it and was only a little more than 3 months old so it was well within the warranty coverage and they chose not to cover it under warranty
Thats why I think the whole corp. is "garbage"

Maybe Kawasaki seen the video you posted 2 months before this one.
The one about the straight pipe you put on it, complete your comment about "all the other Mods" you did to it. :D
