  • this IS the OLD texas world speedway?

  • From what I saw on this video TWS seems a little wider than I recall it being rendered in the old Papyrus NASCAR Racing Legends sim. Just how wide are those turns? Looks like we could go three abreast through there.

It's a shame that NASCAR dropped the venue, but I think that one reason was that it wasn't being kept in shape by its owners at the time. There were safety concerns (Talladega comes to mind), and maybe the fan base was fading like SoCal's is now.

  • I'd rather see NASCAR race here than TMS. This is a great race track that just needs some TLC. Looks like it is getting some.

  • If Florida can have Homestead and Daytona, then why can't Texas Have Motor AND World??

  • @Hectorson3

Don't Alabama has Talladega! I agree, it would be awesome to have two tracks here in Texas.

  • @HiVultage01 Agreed!

  • I have a question...since Biffle hit 218 over a year ago now...IF they decided to scrap Texas Motor Speedway, and return to Texas World, would this be a restrictor plate track, or something along the lines of Michigan? I say dump Fort Worth and Eddie Gossage, and go back to College Station.

  • Probably no 'plate track as it's basicaly a copy of Michigan but a little higher banked.

  • How bumpy is it now since the grinding, Greg Biffle said at that track it was the fastest he ever gone in a stock car, said still a little bumpy. At his speed it would be more noticeable

  • The bumps are still prevalent at lower speeds, like what we were doing in the video, but I'm sure that they are less noticeable at higher speeds. It is definitely improved from before the grinding/sealing process. The biggest problem now are some of the cracks in the surface. Some of them are huge.

  • A lot has been done since 1-19-2009. 2nd Grinding extending the asphalt reconditioned areas - LOTS of crack filling. It has been used by and is ready for professional teams to use. With that said, it is a work in process, but, where else can NASCAR or a lot of race teams go and run on a 22 degree banked 2 mile oval in private?

  • You're right. I forgot to mention the crack filling and 2nd grinding.

It certainly is better. This next off-season should be pretty busy for TWS.
