@mbank123 get on woodlores website and either put your name on the waiting list for the custom, or wait till october for the next shipment of the 25th anv knives being made for them by another knife maker
@mbank123 and the website is actually raymears.com, if you havent checked yet, the waiting list for the custom woodlore is a little over 10 years right now haha
very impressive, bt please do not cut with a knife of that quality onto a stone surface. However well a knife is made and heat treated it is not harder marble, this will soon blunted a knife or evern chip and roll the edge.
well yea, like i said, a good knife is determined by whos hand its in, a moron can be using this knife and it would be a piece of shit but a true crafts man can have a rusted old butter knife and it could be a perfect tool.
The steel used is relatively cheap and combined with the fact that everyone has the same knife.. I would of rather spent £300 on a custom made knife using a superior steel..
Like many things nowadays you pay for the name...
I could make you a better knife for half that price and it would also be to your specification and unique..
That said I still wanted one of these and am a little jealous!!!!
the hotel guy is Bear Gryles, ray mears is on the up and up. i dont like the idea of TV survivalist but he had a reputable survival school way before his TV show.

way overpriced... if Mears had been special forces of summin then... but he brought up in Dorset or somewhere lame. Knife is way overpriced and you can sharpen similar and cheaper like that. Rat 7, Flaknifen etc. Give it a year and you'll have nothing left of that blade
Ok you may not know alot about knives. I do. I make them. The knife in this video is extremely well made from O1 High Carbon Tool Steel and is strong. Can be sharpened to a very fine edge, and has a full tang. It takes ALOT of work to make one of these. It is NOT a factory blade that can be produced in the thousands. The Rat-7 is a well made factory knife. I personally would not say "no" to it unless it was a choice between the Rat-7 and an Alan Wood made knife. Then the Rat-7 would loose out.
Again....this is my personal choice. This knife in the video will outlast alot of factory made knives. sweetypie000 says: "Give it a year and you'll have nothing left of that blade" As long as you dont let it rust. This knife will last you a lifetime. When you retire from work in your senior years. This knife will still be by your side.
It cost as much as it does because of the labor involved in making it.
you gotta admit though, alot of it has to do with the name, im getting a custom made nessmuk style knife from O1 and its not costing me 400$. a good knife will cost you some so its worth it if you can afford it. but in the end what matters is whos hand that knife is in, the the knife it self.
your a fucking mongo hahaha

And to think at the begining of this video he had a wife three children and a home....
There was a young man of Devizes who had knives of different sizes, One was quite small and of no use at all, the other was huge and won prizes!

It does not cut wood very well. The grind angle is too large.

You can check it out on the Bayley knife site or searh youtube. There's a vid about it. $710 dollars American. Not me! Nup. Uh uh. Nosirrebob.
scarz1951 3 years ago
The knife doesn't cost $1500 American. It cost $370 to $410 American depending on exchange rate. WAY TOO MUCH.
The Bear Grylls knife costs $720 American. Bloody damned ridiculous!!!

There are far superior steels out there...
These blades were mass produced and not individually made by Alan wood like people think... Trust me I know
