  • I would love to go to that show...

  • Judge you? I would never! Hey, did you happen to attend & film this weekend's Hollywood Show? I wanted to meet Bruce Dern!!!!

  • Was Bruce Dern there? I heard they were attempting a "Laverne & Shirley" reunion alongside the "Twilight Zone" reunion but didn't hear about the rest.

And, no, I wasn't able to go. Were you able to make it?

  • how the feck did I miss this????? YouTube is seriously keeping people from me.

Yes, I WAS judging you. But my judgement is in your favor and I award you $1.99. Now go start a beauty pageant or something.

  • Only if you pomise to bring the bouquet of onions.

    ;-)

  • Looks like you had a lot of fun...

Henry Winkler! I loves that guy!

  • Definitely. And I'd gladly go again - Fonz or no Fonz.

  • Hey Curt, a belated THANKS for the fantastic videos you filmed and edited. Your voiceovers are perfect and your vlog on the event truly captured the essence of the fun and funny times we had at this all-you-can-eat celebrity buffet. Can't wait to work with you again soon!

P.S.: Kathy Najimy crack corn, and I still don't care.

  • Hey, even SHE doesn't care anymore. Or at the very least, I'm sure she's hired someone else to do it for her by now.

I'm glad you're happy with them, Chris. It was a blast for me to throw all that together; a welcomed change from my routine here on this channel.

    Until the next one...

    :-)

  • Hey it's the Fonz! Yep I saw him and wow Mrs Cunningham was looking a lot better, and seemed to be gracefully aging a ot better than many of the others that had the bodies of 20 years old but if I'm being honest (and a little mean) not the faces. MEOW!

  • 20 year old faces can't realistically last another 50 years. It's just a shame so many people in that industry cave in to the unrealistic expectation that they should.

There was one woman there (no idea who she was - possibly someone associated with the Bond films??) who looked like her face was made out of putty.

Plastic surgery = not always an improvement!

  • I thought I recognized Tanya Roberts. She must be 97% plastic to have survived this long looking like she did back in the early '80s. Can you have your face freeze-dried?

  • HA! Good question. Joan Rivers would know the answer to that one, I think.

Roberts looked really good. Up close it didn't appear a nip-n-tuck job, though.

  • i can't quite articulate just how great i think this video is. you're actually telling a story and i love the sentiment. thanks for sharing!

  • Wow, thanks!

I guess there was a little bit of story telling here; didn't really think about it until now.

    :-)

  • I don't think that's how the character's name was spelled, and I don't remember the actor's name, but he was part of the original Star Trek series.

  • HA! Hey, my gaydar is spotty at best anymore, so don't feel too bad. Besides, thanks to a lot of straight guys adopting the "metrosexual" stuff, it's thrown a monkey wrench into the mix for a lot of us.

Fortunately, rainbow stickers on car bumpers are still just ours.

    For now at least.

    ;-)

  • lol this is a free for all! Well, it certainly looks that way! Conventions are fun, I attend MegaCon every year in Orlando.... it's sort of a combination Comics/gaming/movie star convention. I saw Chekov there as well (he just beams all over the place lol). And I met Noel Neil, who was Lois Lane on the old Superman tv show (she's like, er, really old), the entire cast of LOST IN SPACE, and blah blah. Lotsa stars. Seen so many now I rarely get starstruck. But it's still fun. Great video! :)

  • They ARE fun events - or CAN be at least. I'm still convinced based on the last two I've attended that it hinges on unpredictable factors like who you go with, who is there and what their mood or attitude is in regards to being approached, etc..

Noel Neil... she must be in her 80s by now, right? Wow. And I think if I met Bill Mummy, instead of focusing on the Lost In Space stuff, I'd probably chat him up about the song "Fish Heads"

    :-)

  • Hi Curt,

That looked like lots of fun. I used to go to similar events at the Beverly Garland Hotel.

Snyder from One Day at a Time, right? I saw him in a production of The Pajama Game once back in the 80s. It was so funny, because he had star billing but played a very small role. He got tons of applause when he came on stage. It was so silly.

Let us know when the video you shot is edited and up for viewing.

  • Chris just got the last of the files from me so hopefully he'll start posting soon. My guess is he'll do write-ups about some of the event on his site first then post the videos to the YouTube channel and embed them.

And it figures they would hype his involvement in the production, although I agree it's silly if the performer in question has a somewhat small role.

  • that looked like fun curt.nice video

  • Thanks!

  • Oh Curt...This was so awesome. And yes, right at 1:43 I was judging you...Heehee and wishing I was also there.

    (((Hugs)))

  • Judging is perfectly okay, actually.

    :-D

  • ROCK!!! What a cool event, Curt!! I worked film festivals and absolutely LOVED it especially because we get to see the celebs up close and personal. :) What do you use for your voiceovers & narratives? So clear. Anyway, I recognized several and can't recall names or shows! *cries*

  • Thanks!

The VO stuff is just me talking into my camera then converting it into an MP3 with Adobe Audition (formerly known as "Cool Edit") so I can drop it into the audio track in post.

Yeah, the cool thing about this is that seeing them and meeting some helps bring all of it down to earth in a weird but satisfying way. I might have to attend a few more of these before I fully understand why that is.

    :-)

  • My theory is that celebs are seemingly unreachable or untouchable with these glamorous and behind-the-scenes-mysterious lives so when we get to see and talk to them out of character, in our environment and they become more "real". I hear you, Curt.

On that note, Danny Trejo is an amazing person IRL. Met him at the Phoenix Film Festival and he is a very cool, kind-hearted family man. With soft skin, by the way. He seems so rough but I kissed his cheek and... nope! LOL!

  • *judge*

  • lulz

  • Don't know Shneider? Who don't know Pat Harrington? He's one of the TV comedy greats going back to the original Steve Allen Tonight Show.

Now, I'm not even going to mention which of the former celebs that you dismiss was a friend of mine back in High School, but I was glad to see her looking well (and it wasn't former Laker Girl Jennilee Harrison).

Well, I enjoyed this very much. Let me know when the next one is and I'll go with you guys.

  • Harrington DOES go waaay back, I forgot that!

And, okay, you can't be talking about Kathy Najimi because I didn't actually show her, so... Susan Olsen??

Although in my defense, I didn't dismiss her. I was merely having a surreal moment where it was hard to wrap my head around seeing them all in person at one location like that.

Anyway, please tell me that by the time you both were in high school she wasn't still getting teased by that mofo Buddy Hinton!

  • Well just think - that coulda been Christian Bale and you would most certainty been on the business end of a hissy fit!

  • Now THAT would have been a viral video making opportunity!

  • OMG Fonzie and Mrs C and the Brady's! Wow i want to go to that NOW! See any Mash people? Oh this had to be fun!I hope you got some photos with a few! Fun Fun Time!!

  • No MASH cast members from what I could see but there was an entire corner of the room where Chris and I didn't even bother to wander towards. A lot of his time was spent going from one person to the next trying to coordinate when we could do his interviews with them.

But a MASH cast reunion at one of these things would be an EXCELLENT idea.

Ps. they were charging people to pose for pics with them, so I didn't bother. I'm too cheap for that stuff.

    :-)

  • The only one of those names I recognize (and faces) was Marcia Wallace. Except didn't I see Henry Winkler? naw, I probably just imagined it.

So what was this event called, again? "B list celebs grow crows feet"?

  • Yep, that was Winkler. He was constantly surrounded so Chris didn't even bother trying to get an interview with him. Donny Most was nice enough to chat him up for a while though.

Very naughty event name you came up with there.

    *pretends to slap your hand*

    ;-)

  • How could you be in the same room with Peter Brady and not grab his butt... total fail!

  • You're precious!

  • you would say iowa :'(

  • I said it with love, though.

    :-)

  • ok. alls forgiven :-D

  • wait those weren't tubers...they were famous??? I never heard of any of them. Are you sure the one at 3:10 wasn't just the pretty coat check lady???

  • LOL - Jenilee Harrison is definitely pretty but no, she was not the coat check lady.

    ;-)

  • one of these days *sighs* I'll meet you all eventually.

  • WOW, some of those celebs required some thinking on my part. And then the, "Oh yeah, that's right. I remember" would kick in.

  • No doubt! There was a whole row of familiar faces that I did that with, but since I wasn't into either the James Bond or Friday the 13th movies, some of the faces I was never able to place.

  • wow thats pretty neat, I'd totally do it too, just like ya said!

  • It was a fun time. I'm glad I went. Might even go again.

  • OMG - that is so cool!! You are so lucky to get to see all those celebs in real life. I knew almost all of them - including the Schneider reference. I had no idea stuff like this was going on (naive - I know) but definitely worth exploring going to one of these. Made me feel younger just watching!!

  • Danny, I can relate. Seeing the "Bradys" age along with the rest of us (and gracefully at that, from what I can tell) was a nice way of being reminded that getting older is a good thing.

  • I recognized a lot of people!! woot I am old!!! :)

Thanks for taking me there, I love those events

  • LOL, you're not old. So shut up, old lady!

    ;-P

Hey, welcome back from your trip. Hope the time away for you two was just what you wanted.

    :-)

  • it was awesome!!!! I got to meet more family and we had a great time, we ate like there was no tomorrow!!! lol

I have some footage and some pictures, as usual, we got caught on the good times and the cameras took second place :)

  • As it should be - for non-Tubers especially the cameras can often halt the good times.

That's terrific that you got to meet more in-laws. YAY!

    :-)

  • I think there is a common misconception that all actors who appeared in popular series television are financially set for life. These people, bless them, are making a living by signing 8X10s for ten dollars a pop. However, they really have achieved immortality! And how could you not get a buzz by just being in the same room with them?

  • EXACTLY!

There's also the aspect of not looking as young as they did when they were on whatever show(s) made them recognizable, so I've heard people at these things blurt out really rude remarks like, "you look so much older now." Honestly, ya gotta wonder what's wrong with some people sometimes. Ugh. But these actors/performers know that going in and have built up a very tough outer layer to contend with it.

  • I love the title of this vid, great work!

  • Thanks.

    :-)

  • Did Cindy fess up to who REALLY stole her Kitty CarryAll doll? I never believed Tiger did it - he was framed...

  • She didn't reveal that, no. Tiger was also not there to defend himself.

Frankly, I think it was one of the Partridges!

  • Was disappointed I didnt recognize more of them. Maybe the whole Brady thing threw it off, didnt watch that.

  • Ah too funny.

Actually, you and Susan Olsen look a lot alike now IMO. You two even have the same (or similar) hair style... and once upon a time even the same first name.

    LOL

Ps. She's also very fond of cats - sure you two aren't secretly related?

    ;-)

  • Wow, i even recognised a couple of people there! ;)

    Are these a regular event?

  • Yep, they host it ever 3 months, or every 6 months, I forget which. I can only guess how much work goes into the planning of this thing.

  • OMFG you're such a fan boy! ;)

  • LOL - yeah, but I'm sorta relieved that it wasn't nearly to the extent that I would have been several years ago. Seeing enough of these people in person brings it all back down to earth in a healthy way, I think.

  • aww i saw Henry Winkler. got to meet him once...they don't come any nicer than that man!

  • We didn't talk to him at all, although he was in the car ahead of us as we tried to exit the parking lot. Turns out the pay station was closed so Winkler waved to us to go to the other exit. So I said, "well if the Fonz tells us to move, WE MOVE."

Then at the other exit, Chris couldn't find the time-stamp thing to give the attendant and I joked that the Fonz was gonna beat us up if we kept him waiting behind us.

    ;-P

  • see..the Fonz waved ya on...told you he was nice! and just glad he did not have to beat you up!

  • What great fun!! Thanks, Ang

  • :-)

  • curt i would have been there if i could. what a wonderful time it must have been. thanks for the links too, i'm checking them out!

    p.s. was rhoda there?

  • HA! No, Valerie Harper wasn't there, but that would be an interesting to meet her.

Not sure what the heck I'd say to the lady...

  • Oh my goodness was that Henry Winkler?? And all those Brady's!!

That would of been cool to been there lol

  • This was the first event where I saw so many CASTS gathered. The event's been a regular thing for years but it's under new ownership now and seems to be way better produced.

  • Henry Winkler looks like my father...

Looks like you had a great time. I'm having a tough time keeping my head out of a dark place to just keep moving just lately.

  • Ah man, I'm sorry to hear it!

    :-(

  • it's one foot in front of the other towards the light, otherwise...I never doubt my survival, but occasionally I indulge in bottles of whine.

Do these folks wear name tags "John Smith, I was Beaver's fat friend"? I'm not sure I'd recognize them today...

  • oh and the conceit of my comment "Henry Winkler looks like my father..." hahaha! he's about the same age as me...no one ever thinks they age, just everyone else does!

  • I would SO go to something like that if I had the chance!

  • Actually, I'd be curious to go to the Australian equivalent to see how many people I'd recognize or remember. As someone from the UK pointed out in his comment, not all of these people were ever well known beyond U.S. borders.

  • Marsha!! Marsha!! Marsha!!!

Wow!! Tanja Roberts is looking HOT!!!!

this event would have been a blast!

  • She really does look great, yeah. She was actually lined up next to several other "Bond girls" from films-gone-by. She and Maud Adams looked the best, IMO.

  • HMMM .. Ok I gotta confess,, see your thinking Bond.. I'm thinking 'Beastmaster' from like the early 80's. OH man.. thanks alot.. you just reminded me how ancient I am!! :(

  • or was it Breastmaster?... well, you get the picture

  • Now that looks like so much fun. The not so fun part is when I saw the Brady's look so OLD, which I guess applies to me too. lol

  • Yeah, these things are a reminder that it applies to all of us.

    :-)

A little jarring at times, but still fun.

  • HA! That looks like SO MUCH FUN! Buncha burnouts desperate for attention.....JUST LIKE ME!

  • LOL

There's a clip of someone interviewing David Carradine (Kung Fu) at one of the previous events. It's a riot to watch because Carradine actually does appear to be a little burned out. In fact, the interviewer seemed to be rudely interrupting him in the middle of a crossword puzzle.

    LULZ!

  • I have to admit that would be thrilled to go to an event like that. Thanks for sharing Curt!

  • It's a wonderful place to people watch. You'd get a total kick out of something like this, i just know it.

    :-)

  • 1:32 white t shirt - Is that you, Sarah Palin?!

This is where the campaign for California governor starts!

  • BWAHAHAHAH!

    Yes.

    Yes it does.

    ;-)

  • wow i would TOTALLY be there!!

  • It was a goofy yet very cool event.

    :-)

  • I of course remember Schneider!!! Some of the others I recognized but a lot of them I didn't. I didn't recognize any of the 4 women from 2:52 onward.

And if you'll get a job filming men's physicals at the doctor you'll have a perfect opportunity to turn your head and cough and nobody will be the wiser:)

  • LMAO!

Okay, it's not entirely out of the question that I'd man a camera for such a thing, then again I've never thought to go looking for the opportunity.

    Until now, that is...!

  • Oh, btw, the women from 2:52 onward are Susan Olsen (Brady Bunch) , Adrienne King (Friday the 13th), Jenilee Harrison and Tanya Roberts.

Now that I think of it, I have no idea why I didn't put their names at the bottom of the screen...?

  • Cool event but as I am English I only reconised The Fonz!:)

  • LOL, he was one of the most recognizable people there I think. Even more so with the other Happy Days cast there beside him.

  • Wow, so many people I watched religiously as a kid, I think I would have been so star struck to talk to henry winkler.

    Lucky you!

  • Honestly, if Chris hadn't asked me to come with and bring the camera, I wouldn't have gone because approaching any of them that way feels awkward to me. But I'm glad I went.

  • Excellent Curt! Truly excellent! Thank you!

  • Glad ya liked, Ron.

    :-)

  • Not judging you at all...thinking how LUCKY you were! I grew up on all those shows...HOW FUN!!!

  • Same here. And when you see them in person as an adult, you realize just how far back on the timeline it all is. A little scary but not in a totally bad way.

  • I thoroughly enjoy your professionalism, Curt..Your videos always make me smile. I remember all the stars I saw that you filmed..thats because Im an old fart.

  • Three cheers for old farts, then!

    :-)

    Thank you

  • What a cool event!

  • Yes. Hectic and loud and very cool.

  • Man, I was gonna attend that and I forgot about it. I saw it on another youtube video and I said oh i forgot.

  • So other clips of it are already live. HA! Too funny. I knew it would happen. Too many people had their tiny digital cameras going all over the place.

I think they have this thing every 3 months, so there's always another opportunity around the corner.

  • YEA.. Get your butt in there when something is going on.. you live like across the FKN street!! LOL!!

  • Awesome.

  • A fun and exhausting time.

    :-)

  • Looks like a fun event! But you are right...way too many Brady's in one place...LOL

  • They were shy one Marcia-Marcia-Marcia, and one Jan, but they made up for it with a Cousin Oliver (Robbie Rist does not look the same...I wouldn't have spotted him at all).

  • Yes, I remember Schneider.

Nice to see Carol from Newhart.

  • I'm glad my 70s sitcom references aren't completely self indulgent, Jim.

    :-)

  • How dare the intercom guy talk over you! :)

  • Of all the nerve, right?

  • vrrry vrrry coool!!!

  • Thankya!

  • I need a camera man the next convention i go to i get to excited when i meet childhood heros and kinda blank on hitting the record button.Great video too.

  • Thanks! I was there on a media pass thanks to Chris so I didn't get hassled about the camera, but there seemed to be random objection. Shelley Hack's assistant was barking at people who wanted to snap photos without first paying in cash. In fact, that assistant was a rude little snot.

  • Yeah some of the ppl can be asshats the last convention i went to they didn't to much care if you took video but i didn't take much because there were so many ppl you couldn't get any good shots.Though i almost took gary colemans picture there but he looked very sick and i felt bad about it and ended up not doing it.

  • Looks like a smorgasbord of fun flashbacks. The Fonz still working his magic on the ladies I see. Fun stuff camera man.

  • The entier room was a big flashback, yeah! But it was a relief to know that a lot of them are actually still working and not just sitting back remembering some old acting gig.

  • With all of those old sitcom actors/actresses in one place you must have jizzed your pants a time or two.

  • LULZ!!

Actually, not really. It was cool meeting Susan Olsen but I didn't feel all that star struck. Fortunately, YouTube has helped ween me off a lot of that celebrity following, though apparently not 100% if I attended this.

    :-)

  • I don't know = it looked like a lot of fun to me. Sort of pathetic but given what the big shots are doing to the B list actors, you really can't blame them, can you?

  • No, ya can't. It's a brutal industry and even when you're at the height of whatever celebrity you might be enjoying, there's not just the lack of a guarantee that it will last, you're actually guaranteed that it WON'T last. So who can fault someone like Shelley Hack for showing up to sign autographs and collect $10 or whatever for each one.

  • LOL I would totally be doing that if I lived there. I think the cameraman did pretty good and I bet it was a lot of fun to star gaze for a bit. ; )

  • Some of it was kinda surreal, but definitely fun. The last one I attended before this was 11 years ago, actually. In fact, I met my friend Chris at one of them. And apparently the event is under new ownership now, which makes sense because I could see a lot of improvements this time around.

  • Oh wow, the lady from Newheart is still kicking around. That's cool. Newheart was a pretty awesome show. I always imagined she'd be the 'cool grandmother' by now. I'm glad you got to go to this event. It seems right up your alley!

  • Yeah, I think she's in her mid 60s by now, but still kicking around.

    :-)

Incidentally, I wish they'd release the remaining two seasons of Bob Newhart on DVD already. I'm getting antsy!

  • At the time that "Newhart" (the one where he's in Vermont) was showing, I had no idea that Julia Duffy (Stephanie) was 39. I assumed she was in her 20's. I did like the ending though, with Bob waking up next to Suzanne Pleshette as if from the old The Bob Newhart Show. I just looked up Julia Duffy...she's 58. OMG I'm getting old. I DO NOT LIKE THIS.

  • I spotted her in an outdoor shopping mall once and thought, "just how old WAS she when she was on that show?"

Well, I guess that answers it.

Have to say, though, she still looked good.

  • OMG The Bradys!!

OMG Marcia Wallace!! I so want to meet Mrs. Krabappel!! We hosted an online chat for her on Foolmoon years ago to promote a book, she was a blast!

  • Susan Olsen was the coolest, most laid back chick in the entire room.

Wallace was cool too - very sharp wit, as I'm sure you must have seen in that chat.

  • Schneider! LOL I was very young when ODAAT aired. I used to think those cigarettes tucked in his sleeve were bars of soap. Ahhh....innocence!

  • LOL, that's great!

I wonder now if they really were. Prop departments are full of inventive people, ya know.

  • Can I be your cymbals?!

    "be dum ching!"

  • YES! I like that idea.

And I won't even make you wear the same uniform that the stuffed mechanical monkey wore.

    8-)

  • But I already bought myself that outfit.

  • Perfect. YOU'RE HIRED!

    ;-)

  • Kewl. Now just hire me a chauffeur. I won't be able to drive with these percussion instruments permanently attached to my mitts.

  • I'm sending a clown car. Hope you don't mind sharing the back seat!

  • Excellent!!! No problem.

  • That's right Potzie was the dark haired guy. and having my music for WHAT kind of stuff? Whatever you want to use the music for is fine.

You're not going to start doing snuff films are ya?

  • Well so much for the OhSnuff channel!

*kicks can down street, hands in pocket...*

  • I saw da Fonz!! Amen to your last sentiment brother!! Now get the hell over and watch my latest video!! WHICH I DEDICATED TO YOU you good-for-nothing-non-watcher-of-my-damn-channel!! :P

  • LOL

Tony, I've been so unplugged from YouTube in the last several days. It's a wonder I remember how to hit the "post comment" button!

    *heading over there now*

  • WOW,

this must have been great for you Curt !

    omg the brady's

    lmao

    Ok I have to admit,

    I would have been there.

    Very cool footage !

    **Kisses**

  • I think it's like anything, you only have fun if you go with the right attitude AND the right people. Chris was the perfect person to be there with.

    (((Sonia)))

  • Way cool video!!!! I would have expected Snyder to have been really tall too (he sure did look that way on One Day At A Time). Ah, Jaclyn Smith was there too, she's still so very pretty. Great video, even the cough!! I've already run off to subscribe to your friends channel. :)

  • Thanks, Angie - Actually, Smith wasn't there. But that was Tanya Roberts towards the end. Same cop show in any case.

    ;-)

  • OMG, you're RIGHT!!! LOL.. Wow, how did I screw that up!

  • When they're all sitting around taking orders from Blake Carrington over a squack box, they all look alike.

    ;-P

  • Curt did any of the old TV celbs jump up and down in giddy excitement when they realised they were speaking the Curt (Yes THE Curt) Lord of the Dance and King of the YouTube Colab?

    Lucky devils!

  • ;-P

  • omg you saw Chekov! I'm jealous lol

  • HA! I only saw the back of his head very quickly as it passed through a crowd of Shelley Hack fans.

  • Schneider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I should've gone up to talk to the guy but I succumbed to the socially awkward feeling. Didn't wanna bother the guy.

  • Awesome! Was that Linda Hamilton?

  • No, I didn't see her there. At least I don't think I did - ?!

  • Never mind, it wasn't her. I think it was just someone who resembled her a little.

  • I should have put names in the corner or something - not sure why I didn't now that we're on the topic...

That could have been Susen Olsen (Brady Bunch) that looked like Linda Hamilton. Lydia Cornell sorta looks like her too, I guess.

  • It was the woman at 0:34 who I thought was her.

  • Oops, I mean 0:38

  • AH, okay. Nope, that's Jenilee Harrison.

Classy lady. Gave Chris a great interview.
