Nagisa is very different from him so they kind of complete each other, but I just always adored Kyou because she seemed like Tomoya's equal. He would just plop down beside her, out of all the other girls, and talk comfortably with her. "So they make good friends," you might say, but being physical with her also seemed more natural for him. Or am I reading too much into it? Anyway, I like how each pairing brings out something different in Tomoya! <3

you need to know the structure of clannad and you should consider why there are orbs on clannad.

the reason is that orbs mean happiness and wishes, so each path where happens orbs must exist too, or nagisa cannot get enough orbs and nagisa goes to death.

even if you look at entire story, ryou and tomoya never happens as AutoTima says because ryou does not get an orb, so ryou's path never exists actually.

kyou's path happens an orb in conclusion, so kyou's story that tomoya breaks up with ryou and goes out with kyou is true ending.

you need to accept it, man.

the reason why kappei's path was not created too is because kappei has dead on his after where exists on nagisa's after story, according to interview for Maeda on CLANNAD VISUAL FAN BOOK.

the path that he marries nagisa is nagisa's path, and this is kyou's path that exists on different places because of orbs. as you know, nagisa has dead once and needs orbs to destroy illusion world and get alive, so each parallel path that happen orbs also needs to exist.

honestly in the end i think nagisa was the best meant for tomoya... i just cant bear to imagine how nagisa wouldive ended up without tomoya... so lonely... well comparing tomoyo and kyou... i cant choose. they are both amazing girls. but personally i found the tomoyo ova more touching in terms of portayment. as someone said before, they seemed to have dumbed down the scene. but ah well, clannad is epic anyway. Kyou and tomoyo may be better girls than nagisa. But... NAGISA ALL THE WAYYYYYYYY

Maybe you were just overly connected to the game & was weeping and taking forever to choose a choice and the ova just made the choice without being emotionally connected to it. You had to choose what to say and you thought about what Kyou said and sorta like took it in, so it just seemed that much longer. Maybe it DID have longer dialouges. (I never played far, but anyways) You see where i'm getting at? I wasn't trying to be mean either i was just saying.

@coorokun555 Wrong, by this point of the game you're already on the climax of her route and the choices are over. The scene is actually longer because she doesn't cut him off. She loses the will and just lets him embrace her while she just keeps crying. To begin with this happens during a school day so there's a few scenes before it and he doesn't just randomly finds her. The day after he gets confused because she does a total 180 and pretends she's fine and it never happened.

no, nagisa can marry with tomoya on only nagisa's world because clannad has many endings and orbs of happiness. you will know it if you play the original novel.

in this time, tomoya was about to break up with ryou because he was getting to love kyou. then, he hugged because he did not wanna see kyou's hurting and crying anymore.

from this tomoya's action, kyou felt his kindness and love, but she did not wanna make ryou sad at the same time.

so, kyou told him "I'm Kyou Fujibayashi, not Ryou" to pay his attention back to ryou. tomoya decided to break up with ryou finally, though.

I'm kinda disappointed with the 30 minute OVA..it cut off the great parts of Kyou's arc on the VN...oh, well, at least it's delivered to the people...they know Kyou's arc at the very least.

I somewhat understand you but tomoyo arc is also made within 30 minutes. I mean. it's anime rule that OVA can have only 30 minutes that is the length of one episode but they described both arcs so well. and as you say, people should play the game if they wanna know more detail.

as you see tomoya's face on 2:56, he couldn't because he was so shocked when kyou told him "bye bye" on crying though he understood her feeling. he was kinda regret that he should have done it earlier. this scene really shows how he loves kyou so strongly.

Tomoya decides to go with Kyou because he has just loved her from the first time.

Ryou also knew it and Kyou's feeling that she loved tomoya strongly. However, Ryou told Kyou that she wanted to go out with him because Ryou knew Kyou's kind character and that Kyou would help Ryou absolutely.

In other words, Ryou used Kyou for that Ryou would be a couple with Tomoya but she just failed because she could not imagine how strongly Tomoya loved Kyou.

well, on the raining scene, Tomoya hugged Kyou and Kyou realized his true feeling that he loved her.

So, she just wanted him pay his attention back to Ryou because Kyou thought Tomoya was gonna break up with Ryou soon, which would make Ryou be sad.

It's one of the best scenes that shows Kyou's kindness to her sister.

xen0n48...This is a Kyou arc, as it says. This is from the visual novel where Kyou pushes away Tomoya so Ryou can have him as a boyfriend. She tries not to snap in the process but failed. They did the Kotomi arc in the first season, Tomoyo in the last episode of 1st season and the Nagisa arc throughout...Puhi.

I've never seen this anime before, but I think I understood a few things from seeing this.

When she pushed him away, she seemed to be saying, "Just walk away and leave me alone to suffer so I can hate you in peace."

When he embraced her and hugged her tightly, despite the silence, I could...feel his voice in his actions. It spoke very clearly, "I won't let you hurt yourself like this."
