I actually think the added verse takes a lot away from the song. "you've got to be taught to love all mankind' implies you would not normally love all mankind. The entire idea behind the rest of the song is that you have to be taught prejudices, fear, etc because people will accept others without being taught this. So if you have to be taught to love too are people naturally apathetic? I know thats likely not what was intended but the instructor needs to put more effort into interpreting lyrics.

To celebrate the release of my new album, Rockin' In Rhythm: A Tribute To Duke Ellington, Telarc International is giving away a complimentary two-night stay at the Carlyle Hotel, two tickets to my performance, dinner for two and a travel voucher!
Man! I'm so glad you caught this on video! It really was a highlight of the festival. I'll try to post a link with the photos I posted on the Friends of Frank DeMiero Facebook page.

Love the little Sondheim moment -- "Children will listen" -- at the very end. So sweet: thanks for sneakiness!

I was looking for something a bit different and here it is...simply charming.

However, no one mentioned the additional verse added to the song to turn a negative into a positive. I think the words are perfect. Bravo!

John is one of the great jazz teachers who wants to encourage the younger generation - this is an excellent example. Thanks for the video!
