I always draw NiGHTS with eyelashes, to show that it's a girl...

Think about this: Most SEGA girls wear pants, a dress, or a skirt in EVERY game they're in (I can only think of a couple exceptions), while hardly ANY of the non-human SEGA boys wear pants ever...

Thus, as NiGHTS has worn pants in every game so far, NiGHTS is a girl. While, Reala hasn't worn pants in ANY games, he's a boy.

At least, that's what my theory is on NiGHTS' gender...

It was a conscious design call on Sonic Team's part back in the development of the first NiGHTS to make him/her completely androgenous as you'll be playing BOTH male and female counterparts. In short, NiGHTS is neither and it is both. It is simply that part of our dreams that wants to be more than a nightmare, something better and brighter. The Red Ideya in a non-partial host. alright, to put it simply, NiGHTS effemanent look may come from the fact that he's supposed to be a jester, a clown of sorts, which shows his nature of not wanting to listen to his creator, now, about his torso, his vest may just be thicker or he may be wearing an undershirt, his odd shape may again be the whole clown thing, he's supposed to look funny, reala on the other hand is supposed to look like a nightmare, presumably at one time NiGHTS did too. but again with the clown thing...
