I like to think he's crying not because he's gonna get caught by the Metro cleaners, but because he what he has had to resort to. A father shouldn't have to seek shelter in a public subway restroom with his only son. To me, he's crying because he feels he's failed as a father not even securing safety for his son, he can't believe he's stooped this low and wishes things would go back even to the below-average conditions with his wife and apartment.
