  • Obama's healtcare program will expand the privet HMO & Insurance industry which is going broke because of bad investments in the Stock Market. We will be forced to buy and carry insurance if we want medical treatment. A medical panel will determine who will get medical treatment based of cost effectiveness. Heil hitler! Obama's program is just another Wall Street bailout. Obama is a Wall Street prostitute that will say anything to get some head. Google Video: OTC PM Report September 10, 2009

  • Kudos to Vicky for speaking out too on her busted ankle with no insurance!

  • the basic idea of turning the current health care system into a democratic system is good, but what is wrong is keeping the insurance companies involved, In Europe the health system is a priority, Governments must guarantee money for it because if u are sick u MUST have the right to be cured whatever ur bank account is

  • the trouble is, Ms. Adrian, is that you would have no co-pay in canada because you would never even have gotten the tests to show whether you had cancer or not, unless you got put on the waiting list and waited 1-2 years. You need to show how and why your claim was denied totally as you claim. Oh of course since HICFA mandates patient ptrivacy no one can contest your words, right?. show us the tests , the orders, thr consults showing the need for surgery and then the letters denying, then talk

  • @THEMASTEROFYOU2000

You have no idea what your talking about. I know people in Canada. There's no long waiting lists for issues like the one she had.

I have Canadian friends that either laugh or shake their heads when I talk about the health care here. Its a joke. But us as Americans are to stupid to realize that there is something better. Instead we listen to talking heads that tell us what to think.

  • Well, I do know, and have family there. There is what most people have no realised yet in America, public healthcare , our V.A. system. now just sit back and think, Listen to the comments made about that, and also, canada has a remaining full fledged private health care system, now at twice the cost before they changed, most who can use that, or if needed come to America for important treatments. take away the motive for improvement , imporvement dies. Our system needs fixed, but not taken over

  • I agree completely. Another thing I find great joy in is that..lets just say ms. adrian did have "free" single payer healthcare like in the "rest of the industrialized world"...the amount of money that she would pay in taxes over her lifetime would be a million times greater than the amount of any doctors bill...yes we sometimes get shafted with medical bills...its our body...we must pay to stay alive..it isn't a God-given right to stay alive...it is a privilege..I could go on forever...

  • This kind of crap would NEVER happen in Canada, Germany, England, France, Japan, etc.

Wake up americans! Government-run health care WORKS!

  • Oh, many of us are quite wide awake. Not enough, but we're getting there. The politicians, though, seem to be perpetually comatose (or just paid off). >:-(

  • Get a plan that covers more stuff!

  • lol, yea lets out law the on tv insurances that say " for only a dollar you get 20,000 dollars worth of coverage", which you do, after you pay the premium for 20 years, paying them 45k, then when ya die yer family gets 20k, theres the problems, for every Nurse caring for patients there are 9 people counting money, another problem.basic stuff, get real about it, stop "mandating" our lives

  • iPablosu:

I second that. I gladly pay for school and health care with my taxes.

  • BCBS dropped me 2 weeks after VULVA Cancer ! OBGYN gave me Vioxx for it I had to BEG for OPERATION ! I was Sprayed 7 yrs with MALATHION West Tenn 2001

  • Dear America:

Take the Australian, German, British, Canadian, French, Japanese, South Korean, swedish health care system, or the healthcare system of ANY Western nation, and copy and paste it to your system. It is so simple. Get back to me if you have further difficulties.

    Signed,

    Tech support.

  • Yea, we have maleware called lobbiest.

  • This poses a problem. Try isolating the lobbyists from your centres of government. This should make your system run faster and more efficiently, and will mean that dangerous programs will not threaten your system.

  • The maleware has infected our system so deep with false information its impossible to remove all at one. We gonna have to reformate it, it would cost to much to clean out the programs one by one. Detected by Norton Anti-Lobbiest 2009 Edition.

  • Since a reformat is a difficult procedure, you might want to try removing any affected congressmen and senators, at the next automatic reboot in November 2010. You might even find that prepatory loosening of the seats of said congressmen and senators may even help with removing the lobbyists.

  • Thank Mr Tech support guy from India.

  • I'm still laughing after reading this back-and-forth between you two. Anti-lobbyist tech support. Too funny! Perhaps by now there's a patch that will also take care of the nasty insurance company problem we have here as well.

  • America..its simple....tell your government to pay for your health!

  • Glenda Lewis, let the woman talk! She's literally right there!

  • come to sweden where health care and education its for FREE!!

  • Believe me. If it wasn't for your snows in winter, I'd consider it.

  • but in the south there's not much snow in the winter... so do it ;)

  • America should not worry about its (nonexistent) healthcare system, with huge powerful companies, nothing will get done. What America should work on is educating their people in order to prevent them from ending up in the hospital in the first place.

  • I count my blessings and am grateful with what my govt and people in my country believe. That the issue of healthcare is not a bargaining chip, that it is a moral responsibility of the elected govt to carry on its duties to ensure that its people receives utmost care without first looking at your insurance coverage or your wallet, but to save your life most importantly.

  • I'm from singapore and i feel for you guys when i heard about the kinds of medical system that you all receive in US. Its really saddening. Its a bit shocking to hear that there are quite a few on your side who still believe that they have the 'BEST Healthcare System' in the world.

  • The Insurance Industry is nothing but a parasite. They are holding treatment to sick people ransom. They take people in life threatening situations and blackmail them as much as possible. Getting people to sell everything they own and handing it over to them to live. It is sick. Why anyone rich or poor would think this practice isn't anything but the most corrupt sociopaths behavior is a true mystery. Who are these people among us and why are they in control?

  • i'm in the same boat. i'm 62 years old, semi-retired/self-employed, & haven't been able to get/afford health insurance for several years BECAUSE i need to see a doctor, due to hypertension & other "pre-existing conditions" of being 62.

until for-profit ins. cos. are removed from this discussion, NOTHING WILL CHANGE. i will not pay those criminals one more dime. you'll have to, and you're gonna, kill me first.

  • Big insurance is not going down without a very serious fight. Do you realize how much money is involved? I'm for single payer, 100%, but I'm thinking if anyone gets close to winning the fight against them, bad, bad things will happen to them. It's an enormous, dangerous undertaking. Up for it?

  • The bottom line is American doctors are not going to work for free after all no one becomes a doctor to help people they become a doctor to make lots of money.

  • Some might, but there are many doctors who want to help people. I have a doctor who bends over backwards to help his patients, even working for free to help people. Don't be so cynical, man.

  • Well I wish there were more like your doctor in fact more people in every walk of life with that helping mentality.

  • I truly believe there are more people like this than you might think. They just don't make the headlines. Where I live there is a network where uninsured and underinsured people can go and get referred to one of these doctors who volunteer their time and expertise to help. So my doctor is one of many. I know of a similar system in another part of the state. There are many generous doctors and nurses around, and they are changing minds like Wendell Potter's for one.

  • Mandate my bumhole! I'm not paying private industry one red cent!

  • some nice "change" this is.

fuck you obama, from somebody who voted for you.

  • We need to keep the pressure on. Obama is just one person, these representatives and senators need to know it's the people that are demanding this, not just Obama. Don't give up so quickly, write your representative every month and demand health care for all.

  • I wouldn't live in the States if you fucking paid me. That is one fucked up country. Thank God they won't be the worlds biggest superpower after 2025.

  • I am doubtful that universal health care (REAL universal health care like what they have in Canada) will ever happen in the United States. It's a great idea but I don't think it will ever happen. Our politicians are just way too greedy (even Obama). They've all got their hands in the pockets of insurance companies. There is NO WAY many of them will voluntary quit receiving those "campaign contributions" from them. It's our political climate that prevents it. It's just too damn greedy.

  • i hate obama

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • single-payer is not a charity. Americans are already paying taxes taxes taxes, that is where the money should go, no political campaigns, war, bailout, etc. Obama is not for America, sorry but I regret any support I gave him. Obama has let the american people down.

  • I agree Obama needs to be more aggressive, but c'mon he's but one man up against a very large and very powerful industry. We have to help him. Please visit medicareforall . org and join the million letters campaign. If we demand it, we will get it. We can't give up this easily or quickly.

  • I have always been positive, but honestly Americans need to get themselves out of that trained mentallity of: "trust the expert." Look at "Alan Greenspan" or better said "Alan Green-SPAM" and the results of his advice... His last name looks fabricated just like a hollywood star Green:Money Span:Spread, increase, etc. It sounds silly but...

  • lol! I'm not sure what this has to do with health care for all, but it gave me a laugh :)

  • Also, after looking at how innocent women, kids, and men are being killed everyday in Iraq and Afghanistan, including patriotic young soldiers: this may sound a bit radical: War is all about money: how much it would have "Co$t" to help incorporate to society any WW2 holocoust survivers. 6M know killed. This people were traumatized by war, nazi treatment, malnurished, etc. Here it comes: Maybe (still an asswhole) Hittler killed only half. The rest just could not be afforded: Who writes history?

  • I would love a single payer system however in order to get that everyone in this country needs to donate to that cause. When your congressman or senator calls or sends you an e-mail then you have to donate. When Mitch Stewart sent me an e-mail from Organizing For America asking for donations to help send Congress a message for health care reform you have to dig into your pockets and give. He asked me twice and I gave $50.00. It's my Chuck E Cheese money but oh well...

  • My grandson and I can go without next week-end but people like Adrian Campbell and her sister are too important.

  • what r u talking about,,,we r actually paying for health care in taxes already

  • And calling it HR 676 will not help either. I know it sounds like bull but in Disney's Lilo & Stich, Stich's scientific name was "experiment 626". 626, 676, sounds to me like "666." As stupid as it sounds, marketing always wins. Also by calling it like that they de-humanize it. HR 676 needs a friendlier name. Just a thought...

  • I agree, how about medicare for all.

  • Well lets just be honest with ourselves, The Dems can barely garner enough support within thier own party for a public option. The Republicans are up in arms. A single payer program would never make it throught the House or Senate.

  • Of course the switch is not possible, the public health system is rotten, destroyed, and handycapped - thanks to both Democrats and Republicans. The people did not want the bail-out and did not want the Iraq War. What happened?! What do you think is going to happen when you the people say "I want medicare for everyone"? Do you think they will listen? Lol.

  • You really think they will switch to a single-payer system so easily. We all want that and Obama too, but come on, be realistic, you are just saying to kill companies that make trillions and give government billions. Those fucking politics won't vote for that so easily, but if I truly see an effort I will put my name as a supporter :) Still,go Obama, you are trying to help in a way that those money eaters won't complain as much and therefore the reform actually has a chance.

  • so great we get to eat less shit..Help us God

  • can you imagine if lobbying and ripping ppl off was illegal? how much money would that save?

  • Well, in defense of lobbyists, you can't really make lobbying illegal without abolishing the First Amendment. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth to say that, but it's true. Anytime you write a letter to your Congressman you are lobbying. I think that limits should be set on how much money politicians can receive in "campaign contributions" from lobbyists, but you can't abolish lobbying altogether. It's a necessary evil.

  • We lobby for free! Unlike Republican lobbyists who accept MILLIONS in "BRIBE" money from the Insurance and Pharmaceutical industries!

  • I DID say that they should set limits on these "campaign contributions" (which are essentially just bribes), and Republicans aren't the only ones who cater to lobbyists. Max Baucus, a Democrat from Montana and a huge opponent of health care reform, accepted 4 million dollars in bribes - I mean campaign contributions - from insurance lobbyists. Both sides are guilty of doing this (granted, it is mostly Republicans).

  • It is necessary, but does not have to be evil. Simply randomly investigate and prosecute lobbyists to check if they are being paid to lobby. I admit I am not any kind of expert on lobbying, so excuse any assumptions. But wouldn't a system that prosecutes people who profit from lobbying work without stepping on rights? Does anyone know these people? Are any of them just activists citizens, or is access restricted to only those well funded?

  • I'm not a lobbyist expert either, but paying people to lobby isn't really something that could be banned. Again, lobbying is a constitutional right. Bribery, however, is illegal, and politicians should be impeached for accepting bribes from lobbyists. It is detrimental to the will of the people for politicians to be influenced by bribes from lobbyists. Max Baucus has been a lap dog for insurance companies in exchange for a 4 million dollar BRIBE. These bribes should indeed be punished.

  • Yes, that makes sense. Makes it difficult to "watchdog" without trampling over rights.

  • mancrushonhanksnow Campaign donations by corporations should be outlawed, period. We have got to ban the "corporate personhood" that has somehow usurped the power of WE THE PEOPLE in the past two hundred years.

  • As a liberal, I agree that corporate personhood is a load. Yes, campaign contributions (bribes) should be outlawed, but lobbying shouldn't be. You can't outlaw lobbying anymore than you can outlaw petitioning. Even paid lobbying is protected by the Constitution. However, these bribes do need to end. But I don't think they ever will. Congress isn't going to vote away their millions of dollars in bribes. They're crooked people.

  • mancrushonhanksnow I agree with you, lobbying (talking) is a different animal than corporate campaign contributions (bribing). If we could motivate a movement against "corporate personhood" the way the movement for Single Payer Universal Healthcare is picking up steam, WE THE PEOPLE would have one big engine that can!
