  • So, what has comfort to do if a claim about the reality is true or false? Ofc nothing, comfort has NOTHING to do with truth and fact is, there is no evidence WHATSOEVER for ANY of the 5000 modern religions.

"Get fucking real, will you?" George Carlin

  • Although I consider myself a theist, your vid seems reasonable and quite honest i have to admit a vid one seldom comes across on YT. You may reject theism in favor of its nemesis but how far will it take you? Let's substitute theism = 1 and atheism = 0. Which worldview is more likely to appeal to people? I mean people look for some sense (i.e. 1, e.g. a positive faith). Saying that God didn't create all this and there's no divine plan for us is a downright negative take on human life, isn't it?

  • @pawsoned not negative, but REALISTIC and LOGICAL. The universe owes you NOTHING. We are born, we live, we die. The goal is to make your life count for something so that you may live on in the MEMORIES and WORKS of others. Simple, isn't it?

  • @dkthg it's such a logical viewpoint: life's an odd incident, birth is an unplanned spermatic coincidence, and all the suffering and death is just a superfluous epiphenomenon. Life is a pure chance, so we must live it to the fullest. Oh, yeah, that makes perfect sense. Now I can be an atheist and enjoy life knowing that there is nothing afterwards and when I'm fed up with it there's nothing preventing me from cutting short this misery. Phew, what a release!

btw is it really realistic and simple?

  • @pawsoned YES, yes it is. You only get ONE life; cherish it! Look at Jimmy Hendrix, Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King. These 3 men died young but made such an impact on peoples lives that we still talk about them DECADES later! If I can make a positive impact for at least ONE person in my life (hopefully more than that) then i would die a happy man.

  • @dkt I like your examples, they were good ppl, but it seems to me that atheism may result in the long term nefarious outcome. I mean look at Dawkins and his condescending epithets towards ppl who disagree with him, YT atheist community and their hate-mongering anti-xian vids, or even infamous atheists from history. Are they really honest folks who don't bear any grudge and act decently? Can we consider them paragons of virtue? Apart from destroying xian worldview what is constructive in atheism?

  • @2eelShmeal To quote The Who :"We won't get fooled again." Have a good one! =p

  • @2eelShmeal Trolls are persistent bastards aren't they? LOL!

  • @2eShmeal You sir are a living proof how honest and constructive is a dialogue with anti-theists. No debate whatsoever, only ad hominems and other insults.

    1) I wrote a similar comment on this vid, how is that a trespass?

    2) I write comments and ask genuine questions. I'm not another redneck whose only aim is to pwn somebody, if you don't like my comments and consider them trolling, then ignore them and stop feeding the trolls i.e STFU. Why do you have to insult me? Did I insult you in any way?

  • @pawsoned This is war now PUNK. You keep rating down my vids so expect to see the same. You fucked with the wrong dude. Conversation over.

  • atheism offers self reliance and inner strength something religious fanatics do not have that's why they need god to give it to them....pussies

  • I like the points you make but i slightly disagree on #3 "The sense of community".

I know an ex drugee/alcoholic who has managned to stay clean because she has "found Jesus". I never debate her on religion and let her know my views because, as an Atheist, i can offer no better alternative (we do not have communities thankfully as these would compromise our stance) and tbh it is working for her as "the fear of god" is the best deterrent. It doesn't matter that what she believes in is incorrect.

  • Athiesm is not something... dislike, *clicks the go back one page button*

  • Belief has nothing to do with what it has to offer. Either you belive something or you don't! ...unless you're willing to fool yourself.

  • I like how jack assumes that his theology is giving him something, but the reality is that it hasn't given him anything. He assumes that he will exist after this life ends and that is the hope he claims his theology has provided for him, but it hasn't. In fact I bet he has never even thought about what that would mean to begin with. Anyone who has thought about what it would be like to exist for ever quickly finds out it would become hellish after some point.

  • sound like rush limbaugh

  • Here's what it offers to me.

There is no divine will and mandate that dictates your destiny.

There is no fate but what we make.

And your life's purpose is whatever you decide it will be.

To me that is more uplifting than the cosmic dictarship that is preached by superstition.

  • @Lathox Here! Here!

    Precisely the way I feel.

  • what does religion have to offer? a bunch more question needing to be answered?

  • Atheism offers way more than any religion. You value your life 1000x more than any person who believes in an afterlife or reincarnation. Atheists tend to care a lot more about equality for all while christians continually seek out groups to discriminate against.

  • @spinnersmetal Like atheist Hitler really thought Jews were equal.

  • @DarrelfromZeeland Hitler was a roman catholic. The Nazis wore uniforms that said "God With Us". Hitler made tons of deals with the church. The church did absolutely nothing about stopping the Holocaust and everybody knows they are glad it happened. YOU think that if hitler repents for his sins he will go to heaven, but a good jewish child that he burned alive will go to hell. Some morals you have there.

  • Atheism doesn't have to offer anything.

The question should be, what does religion offer?

  • I disagree of his point. I'm happy with my religion.

  • ccolliger: "dude... your(sic) a complete moron"

Thank you for that sage and persuasive rebuttal.

A little advice to avoid sweet irony in the future: If you want to insult a persons intelligence, you might want to familiarize yourself with the difference between the possessive 'your' and the contraction 'you're'. This should make it clearer, to anyone reading your comments in the future, that it is the person you are addressing that is the moron in the situation.

  • HAHAHA.... Excellent!

I wonder how people make this mistake...

The guy probably has no education since he has faith...

  • Comment removed

  • eequal..

Again, I agree with U & for the same reasons. Atheism is simply a lack of belief, or not accepting the Xian god as real bcuz of no evidence. But if I were to play his game & answer the question, I'd have to give one short answer, "truth!" That's bcuz what drives my Atheism is the search for truth. That's why I'm an Agnostic Atheist. If I got evidence tomorrow that god exists, I'd be a believer, but if it was the Xian god, I could never submit. I see the Xian god as inherently evil too.

  • maybe if you realize there is no 'life' after life, you'll start living this one a little better. Peace.

  • cool video, but the way you are speaking is so boring, just a friendly opinion.

    peace

  • Honestly what is the point of life if we believe there is no after life ?? what is the whole point of going through the struggles of life with nothing for us when we die ???

  • i think a better question is: what's the point of enduring "the struggles of" this life if there is some wonderful, magical existance waiting for you after you die?

for me, the acceptance of this being (possibly) all there is to existence makes me want to do my best and be my best in every instance.

take care of every moment and you take care of all time.

all of your time that is.

    peace.

  • Yep, these people don't contemplate what enternity means. The first billion years would be okay but what about the next 1 zillion years? How boring does that sound, hanging out with a diety who invented death and wants credit for conquering death? LOL. IT's pathetic.

  • It's not like shopping for a car or heading down to k-mart to find a shirt. It's a question or a pursuit to the truth. Think it of a police investigation where you searching for the facts of what happen. Like a real police you take the facts as they come and don't turn away just because you don't like those facts.

  • xxsik4shotxx:

That is Pascal's Wager. Please look up criticisms of Pascal's Wager to understand how it doesn't hold water.

  • if you don't believe in flying spaghetti monster when you die you will go to hell. convert to pastafarianism and let your soul be saved by all powerful flying spaghetti monster before it's too late! ! ! *insert an irrelevant verse from an irrelevant book here*

  • RAMEN!

  • "What are u going to say to him when u are face to face with him at heavens gates ?"

Probably something along the lines of, "You are not worthy of worship, you childish piece of shit."

Even if the god of the bible/tanakh is real, what reason is there to worship him, other than worshiping him out of fear? If a god has to force people to worship him through fear, he is not worthy of worship.

  • 1. he is not "forcing" anyone to worship him..... hence why ur not..

    2. you should worship him because of the little fact that he created the earth the sun and lets not forget yourself... and every other living thing in life....

3 im pretty sure after not only doing that but dieing on a cross for our sins so that humans can also go to heaven... he deserves just a little bit of praise dont ya think?

  • I didn't ask him to die on the cross. I didn't ask him to create me. You assume these things are a favor to me.

If god is all knowing, he created me, knowing in advance that I would reject him and go to hell to suffer eternally. Therefore, god created me only to suffer for eternity. Why would I worship him?

  • of course u didnt ask him to die on the cross or create u..... he did it because he loves u... just like everyone else .... Yes god does have a plan for you but he cant force it upon you because he gave humans the ability of free will in hoping that you will make the right choice in choosing your fate.... i dont ask u to worship him... just give him a chance plz.. I PROMISE you your life will be much more filling... maybe say a short 10 sec prayer at night thanking god for all he does for us...

  • wrong, you have a choice you are only saying what you feel right now you don't know if you will change your mind in the future. Heaven accepts people from all religions, even athiest as long as you live a moral life. Only you can choose your own destiny

  • What if I never end up choosing faith? Wouldn't god know this? If I never choose to worship god, I will go to hell. God already knows if I will or not.

So let's say I never accept god my entire life, then he created me knowing in advance that I'd reject him for my entire life, therefore, he only created me to reject him and suffer eternally afterward. He knew this would happen, but he created me this way anyway.

Why would I worship him? These are the actions of a cruel and hostile being.

  • but why do you reject God? is it because you suffer? is it because you hate life in general? I know that life is really fucked up and I don't fully understand it at all but I just get that feeling there is some type of being and force that is there, that is in control. God gave us the power to choose, its all up to you

  • THey don't reject God. They reject the notion that God is knowable. They reject that you know who and what created the universe. They reject that any God is known by man. You believe in God without proof or evidence and believe a snake talked to a woman in a garden along with a host of other retarded myths and fairytales and you think they are rejected God? THey reject you're beliefs that are unverifiable and straight up childish. Grow up and accept that you don't know anything.

  • First of all those "fairy tales" you call are not historical stories that Catholics believe in, they are symbolic stories created to teach you. Second yea I don't know anything, that is why its called faith you retard and yea I can't prove to you physically God does exist, if you believe in that kind of world its ok its your life but don't trash talk my religion k?

  • Raz

Its my opinion, & it used to be my "belief" too. All my life I've spoken my mind. I won't stop now.

The interesting thing about all those "stories" is that there is no consensus on how to interpret them. Regardless, I have very good reasons for not taking them as God's inspired words.

Let me clue U in, idiot. Faith is believing in something in spite of no evidence. In other words, "faith=hope."

If U need a security blanket, so be it, but its no longer what I want.

    No crutch 4 me.

  • Raz:You say they are stories created to teach?Consider what alot of those stories are "teaching"..hate and intolerance.Any god who commands that his children which he claims to love so much be KILLED for things such as adultery, working on the sabbath,or not believing, doesn't sound worthy of worship to me.Christians believe in god because the bible says so.Any other book claiming to be the truth without ANY facts to back up it's content would be disregarded, why is the bible exempt?

  • It doesn't matter why I reject god. It also doesn't matter if I change my mind in the future because apostasy is the one unforgivable sin according to the bible.

The fact of the matter is, god is going to have me suffer eternally as punishment for being the way HE created me.

  • Raz..

That's an interesting claim you're making bcuz the majority of Xians would disagree with you. So I have to ask, out of all the thousands of different Xian denominations thee are, which one is correct & why??

Also, if hell exists, then its would be logical to conclude that hell exists. Hell & Orig. Sin are two concepts that I absolutely don't believe in & I have many reasons which have spanned about 6 years of research.

Anyway, I see no evidence for your claim either.

  • if you dont mind me asking but what are Xians?

  • Raz..

    Where have you been??

    Xians is short for Christians.

500 char. is often not enough. Gotta squeeze every bit I can into a post.

  • Oh yeah? What happens when YOU die and you're faced with the flying spaghetti monster!? Huh!? He SHALL SMITE YOU WITH HIS NOODLE APPENDAGE, INFIDEL!

    RAMEN.

  • @xxsik4shotxx and if allahs real your going to burn so right there pascals wagers fails because there arnt only two possibilitys it isnt either the bibles right or its wrong because there many other gods and many have the hell nonsense thrown in there

  • @xxsik4shotxx "Another thing if u dont believe in god while u are a mortal and when u die and there is indeed a god"

It'll be worse for you than any Atheist:-

    1) That is the wrong reason to believe in god who would know that you were not a true believer but just hedging your bets. At least god would know the Atheist is not a hypocrite.

    2) You may indeed come face to face with god but not the one you worshipped. Again your case will be worse than that of the Atheist who didn't falsely worship.

  • @xxsik4shotxx i would ask why he tried so hard to hide himself

  • God is not something u look for he is in ur heart ... he is in each and every person around u... he speaks to us through others and through prayer and sometimes even through dreams.. he welcomes everyone and forgives all .... What do u got to lose ? Nothing ? give him a fighting chance and u will be amazed of what life is like when you accepted god in it !!! believe me !!! please

  • Atheists FTW!!

  • 0:21

    HAIL FSM!

  • Religion is the main reason for war.

  • twombonu, you aren't worth debating because you resort to name calling and repeat the same shit over and over like a child. If you can't speak even remotely intelligibly, why would anyone waste their time with you? Everything you say is completely retarded and I do not debate the retarded. Rather, I feel sorry for you because it's obvious "logic" has left you, never to return! You have religion to thank for that. You are completely brainless and bickering with you is pointless.

    Good day sir...

  • Hello sir, now are you an atheist, or a christian? Because this is an argument between the two.

just wondering so that I can start a logical and intelligent conversation with you.

  • Religions (in general) simply hinder this understanding. Scientific advancements are perfectly fine until it conflicts with "faith". At that point something strange happens... NO amount of evidence is satisfactory, even the most basic apparencies.

  • Actually, I'm neither. I believe that evolution itself is either a minded entity or a technological creation by a minded entity, but whether anyone has figured it out yet is emphatically NO! Science hasn't advanced enough to answer ALL questions, but it has been used, through perseverance, to unlock MANY interesting and beautiful secrets. Science holds truths for anyone open minded enough to understand it because it explains reality on a deeper level than our senses can perceive.

  • Just wanted to make you saw I responded. Never can tell about youtube....

  • I know only two ways for your evolution:

    1) in the chair of torture having your teeth drilled into with no anesthetic. I can guarantee that you will pray for help or deliverance.

    2) you come with me to the temple, to feel the power of the Nutjerus. I can guarantee that your skepticism will melt like snow in the sunshine

    So, which will it be?

  • Sigh... I give up. You are just too brainwashed for debate.

  • You give up because you are ignorant and afraid. For my part, i am through wasting time talking to space cadets.

  • twombonu, a naturalistic view of life is the only logical method of viewing life. We see no evidence of supernatural events. Can you provide evidence for even a single supernatural event? Of course not, because they don't happen and they never have. It's always been as it is now, natural. Everything that happens in nature CAN be explained and science is simply trying to explain it to us, nothing more.

  • Stop torturing yourself! In ancient Egypt, people like you were defined as "non initiates". Today thay are defined as atheists. If and when your time comes, you will know what initiation is all about.

  • twombonu, what is wrong with you? Everything you say is completely retarded. Oops, are you mentally retarded? Poor thing!

    "..torturing myself".. What?

Who cares about Egypt? Seriously, what are you talking about?

Please, if you are too dumb to retort with intelligence, why do it? I love debating Christians, but not retarded ones, though I have found that most SOUND retarded.

All I was saying was supernatural events do not happen and if you disagree, name ONE account AND the evidence for it!

  • You are so pitifully ignorant, it is pathetic! First of all, i am not even a Christian, I am a Shensu. Now, get yourself an education and find out about the priesthood of ancient Egypt. You are the dumb one. Read your classics, you sound like the cayman from that old European folk tale.

  • Dude, it doesn't matter which religion you base your beliefs, no matter how ancient, it's all bullshit. They all require "faith" and faith is unreliable because people will believe ANYTHING! To believe in something without evidence of it being truth is simply illogical and ridiculous and those with faith should be mocked into extinction.

  • Thank you, thank you for sharing your words of enlightenment. I'm sure having read the ancient and undeniable wisdom of Egyptian priesthood, we will all walk away from this experience better members of society and better servants of the one true god.

  • Oh Shensu... Well why didn't you say so. That makes all the difference in the world. Of all the ridiculous religions on the market, you have found the one and only source of knowledge and truth we are all searching for. Wearing robes to temple and presenting dead animal innards to a statue on an alter is the only obvious method of relaying our love and obedience to god.

  • Great morals you've got! Belittling a faith you know nothing about! I wish I could take you to the temple, but you are obviously a space cadet, so who gives a (...) what you think? I sure don't. Am Hotep.

  • Just because someone believes something doesn't mean I should respect it. You would agree regarding any other subject besides religion. If someone said to you "I can fly around like a bird by flapping my arms", you wouldn't believe it. You'd have to see it for yourself. Even if 1000 people said it was true, you'd still want visual proof. Atheists are simply those who will not take anyone's word for such claims without evidence, usually in the form of science because it is the most reliable.

  • You call atheism a faith (for the sake of arguing, let's pretend you're right) and you are belittling atheism. To you an atheistic mentality is ridiculous and you felt the need to post a comment expressing your disdain for that "belief".

  • Are you a total moron or did you go to school at night to learn to become one? If you knew anything about life, you would know that proof means nothing to space cadets like you.

  • This means absolutely nothing.

  • You my friend are the moron, faith is a word many idiots use like you, the definition of faith is "belief that is not based on proof", you f***ing moron it's you that is bloody minded and will not accept proof, You are a child, (you must be to say something that stupid) and you claim to know about life. HA! bollocks.

  • I know about life, fool! You really think that proof would convince a space cadet like you? The tinfoil phonograph certainly did not convince the space cadets of 1877.

  • That is what my beliefs are based on, fool!, do you really think there is a doctrine in atheism, do you really think it requires a leap of faith, evidence is the one thing I will accept, not that a faith cadet like yourself would ever be convince by such a thing as evidence. LOL!

  • ""belief that is not based on proof"

Where did you get that definition?

  • Nice video. Thanks.

  • Can you put Stereo vids...

  • Sorry. My newer ones are in stereo.

  • No matter how smart you are, your view of the World is limited by your personal evaluation. I have no indication that atheists are above that limitation.Science zombies are no better than Christian fanatics.

  • I don`t see where the zombies tie in with the atheists.

  • I dont see where zombies dont tie in with everything.

  • My shotgun can show you where zombie don't tie in with everything.

  • I wouldn't say it was limited, i would say a religious persons world view was being held back by pointless beliefs, people need to grow up.

Science is there to answer questions and is always developing it is not a limitation as it is infinate

  • " religious persons world view was being held back by pointless beliefs"

What are some of the "pointless beliefs"?

  • 1. Prayer

    2. worship

    3. This is not our only life

    4. Every religion.

    do you need dmore?

  • Atheists think they're so smart. They have no understanding of life.

  • Christians think they're so smart. They think they know everything about life, when they don't

  • Wow, that's some reasoning. I love a well-argumented statement.

  • Atheism is a belief, nothing more.

  • Yeah, sure. And bald is a hair colour, and not collecting stamps is a hobby.

I'm off for my training now: not swimming.

  • Atheism is the belief of the non initiates, nothing more. They knew that in ancient Egypt already.

  • Atheism by definition is a lack of belief not a belief

  • Atheism is nothing more than another belief system: the belief that you should not believe.

  • Thats retarded and you know it

having a lack of belief is not a belief

Atheism is not a belief that you should not believe it is just you not believing

Thats like calling me a none drum player because i don't play drums

Atheism is not a belief it is a lack of.

  • Fuck it! What you believe or don't believe is your business. I don't give a shiet!

  • The argument wasn't whether you gave a shit or not i'm just explaining what atheism was because evidently you have no clue.

  • Are we the ones praying over kids to cure their diabetes, or the ones going to a doctor to treat it?

  • OFFERINGS OF AN ATHEIST 1.Logic and reason 2.What we know to be true. 3.Relief from all mysticisms and superstitions 4.Value of your only life not some posthumous life there is no proof of. 5.Time, you would have wasted on religion 6.Evolution, religion is holding us back as a species 7.Freedom from narcissism. 8.Freedom from delusion 9.Freedom from fear of going to hell 10.Freedom from being a part of the horrid history of religion
  • Great explanation. But why do we as atheists constantly have to define and explain our position to certain Theists?

Are they that stupid? -- or is it that they like to constantly goad atheists by deliberately distorting our position?

  • This is now featured on Think Atheist

  • That's not true! Atheism also offers free waffles to. You come for the rational conclusions to irrational claims, but you stay for the waffles.

  • Either that is really funny or I am really stoned. I reckon both.

    XD

  • Best comment ever.

  • I meet that a person does not have to believe in a God or that we live on after our bodies die to enjoy life and be a good person.

I do not believe we out live our bodies and I am ok with that. I have always liked the thought that the atoms we are made of have been around since the big bang or before.

    Thanks

  • It is frustrating when people do not see that life can be fulfilling without believing in a god and that we live on after death. The only thing worse is that most claim that religion has a moral monopoly on goodness. I try to live my life so those religious people can see that I as an Atheist prove them wrong. I tend to get a lot of people saying that I am just an exception to the Atheist rule. I even get "You are a Christian but just do no know it yet!". I sure hope that is not the case

  • I agree, maybe except for this one:

"It is frustrating when people do not see that life can be fulfilling without believing in a god and ''that we live on after death''"

Did you mean that you believe in an afterlife?

  • It's too bad English doesn't have a reliable equivalent to mathematical parentheses. He meant "life can be fulfilling without believing in (a god and that we live on after death)." his not believing either of those things.

  • Some time ago that reply.

Yeah, I probably thought he ment he believed in an afterlife though he probably really ment it the way you said.

  • "If I take bucket of legos and I throw them in the air and they land down creating a perfect copy of the eifel-tower, isnt that way more marvelous than if someone would have build it by hand?"

F&^k no. Humans would never ACHIEVE anything if this happened. It is vastly more marvelous knowing that humans, with their understanding of metalurgy, mathematics, community, and mechanics built this wonderful structure.

  • the idea of no god makes me appreciate life more than the idea of intelligent designer. lets put it this way: If I take bucket of legos and I throw them in the air and they land down creating a perfect copy of the eifel-tower, isnt that way more marvelous than if someone would have build it by hand?

  • Although Christians have a cohesive network, support system and sense of community, there is also a sense of coercion that goes along with that package. People tend to indulge in gossip, cast judgments and create division even within their own system.

They compare each other in regards to who is behaving as a better Christian.

After all, they have to give the appearance that god is working effectively in their lives.

  • 2:48 Cheerios made me laugh, so true.

  • atheist is someone who was never brainwashed by religion

many of us are brainwashed so yes they are more likely to be religious then none-religious

if we dont makeup our mind someone will its call religion :|

  • You mean, I'm not allowed to be an atheist because I was brainwashed at one time? Sorry, I don't buy that; people can change.

  • Well said. I never heard such sound reasoning expressed in such a matter of fact way.

  • Good video!

  • Atheism offers what a lack of belief in fairies offers, a bit more intellectual integrity.

  • fuckin exactly...

the source of the authority of religion is a book... of poetry essentially...... moral espousing poetry....

  • Well it's a better offer, right? Belief is a choice. It's like buying a condo. Which amenities are the most attractive, this sort of thing.

  • Great video man. At first I thought Jack was just being dense, but I think Jack is struggling with his faith, and has throughout his life. Asking this question is just begging to have your argument drawn and quartered. lol

  • I'm not sure what his deal is. You may be right. So far he hasn't approved this response.

    : |

  • Atheists have the freedom to say they don't know the answers to all of lifes questions.

Atheists have the freedom to look for answers to solve the problems they encounter instead of being at the mercy of "god's plan"

  • Excellent video, Paul.

The fact that some theists even go down the "What does it offer?" road is telling to me. It's a 'portfolio' approach to belief/non-belief. I wouldn't dream of asking that question of theism. The answer has no relevance to what's real or not.

  • Indeed. I've never thought of my worldview as something that offered me anything. It is just the way it is. : )

  • i want elephants to be made of chocolate....can i imagine that as well as an after-life? Because it would be so nice.

  • Chocolate elephants are a comforting idea. I don't think we should criticize you for believing in chocolate elephants. If chocolate elephants are your sincere religious beliefs, we should all respect those beliefs, whether they deserve respect or not.

  • Only yesterday Jack said that atheists believe the Universe just "poofed" into existence. Ironic eh, coming from a Christian? :)

  • Oh, they are ever so much fun.

  • Excellent video! Great points as always!

  • I like the fact that "What does X offer?" is a betraying kind of question: if you're asking for someone else to outweigh the benefits you think you're receiving by believing in Y, you're admitting you don't believe in it as a matter of truth, fact, knowledge, kinship or personal interest... And the first three just happen to the things that merit any belief in the first place.

  • I think its funny how certain people saying atheists believe they come from monkeys don't realize that the alternative is dirt.

  • lol :P

  • Even if there were nothing but advantages to religion it does not make religion true.

I am more interested in truth. Fairy tales, no matter how appealing some try to spin them, are of no use to me.

  • "No religion!" Great way to sum it all up.

Everything that's supposedly good about religious belief comes with a heavy rock tied around it, and if you want those things you gotta drag those rocks along too. I don't think those things are worth the extra weight.

  • Heavy rocks are a great analogy! You had me at "no religion", though.

  • I think Jack is just a "Christian Troll", he always appears to have a smug attitude when delivering his "arguments" or statements.

There simply cannot be any possible way, with honest enquiry, to still be presenting videos like this. It must be attention seeking.

It is just not possible that Jack doesn't already know the answers to his questions in the video, unless he is just uploading videos and never watching or reading responses.

Your responses were great however, 5/5 :)

    Thanks.

  • I haven't been able to figure him out yet. I think you may be right. He hasn't approved this as a response yet, so we'll see.

  • when a person ask's "what atheism has to offer" they are sub consciously admitting that they have no real belief in their religion, for two reasons...

1)they would convert is offered something better.

2)in order to be apart of their religion or any, they openly claim the need some kind of welcoming present, like heaven or an all loving god, basically a delusion to believe in to make them feel better.

my advice- dont respond to these people, just isolate them.

  • Good observation. Recently a guy told me that he liked being Christian because the alternative is nothing and no meaning, came from a monkey etc. As if that is the ONLY other option or that meaning is not what you make it (just like what he is doing by having faith) or that it is all that bad being a monkey! LOL

  • I respond to that with the FACT that Linnaeus, a creationist, classified humans in the "great apes" family and we are still classified as such. You think evolution made an ape of you? Nope, Linnaeus did!

  • I agree completely. Jack is begging for an excuse to get out of his cult. ; )

I don't know that we should isolate these people, though. Jack may be beyond help, but there is no reason to throw ALL the fish back just because Jack is a bottom-feeder.

  • people need to see the light for themselves (excuse any biblical phrase that might suggest, lol)

If you help people out of a place, others can equally bring them back in.

they need to be isolated and make up their own minds, they will be stronger for it

  • Agreed. No one should be force-fed an ideology. I think most people would come to reasonable conclusions if left to themselves.

  • Only if they are intelligent though and have a questioning mind.

  • lol, your are the truth, eh?
