Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman doing Foreign Man while impersonating Elvis. And the guy from The Artist is going to win Oscar this year. This performance is one of the greatest of all time.
"Man on the Moon" was not a good representation of the actual person, or situations. They tried to make it so obvious, that the magic of detail was lost. AK knew his art. Check it out for yourself, you will see. It's almost like re-painting a Picasso for a modern day audience.
Jim Carrey and Andy Kaufman were both comic Genius' this sceen show both are true! This really happened and it was priceless!!! Flip the script on them, now a days he wud of been booed off stage before the good part!! Elvis is in the building!!!
Wonderfully impressive movie. Jim Carrey was brilliant as Andy Kaufman. When it comes to put Carrey's best films (in acting department) my vote authomatically goes to Man On The Moon and The Truman Show. He deserved the Oscar or at least being nominated for this award. Courtney Love was great too - very underrated as an actress.
what's the song they play before he starts to imitate elvis? It's a symphonic... and it's used in many other movies and tv shows as a "discovery theme or something" please help
what's the song they play before he starts to imitate elvis? It's a symphonic... and it's used in many other movies and tv shows as a "discovery theme or something" please help
@Jledez it's the first few minutes of Also Sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss. It's famous because it was used in 2001 when the apes find the monolith.
Truly only the best can Preform This. He is an amazing Impersonation of andy and i hope nobody forgets his briliance. He was a great impressionist and one of the most amazing comedians of all time. Thumbs up if you agree:) THANK YOU VERY MUCH Lol
Jesus... the thing about Kaufman is he doesn't just fuck with convention - he completely fucks with everyone around him too. It's a weird see-saw of emotional states and confusion that just leaves you totally unsure of where you stand. It seems he is aware of the tipping point of awkwardness to some virtuoso degree. I think this may be some of the most progressive stuff I have ever seen.
@KayPerestrello THAAAAAAAAAANK YOU! I hate when people put him down because all his roles are the same, or he's not a serious actor, and Obviously they don't look at his movies enough because he has PLENTY of amazing roles and he does a fantasic job at all of them.
i don't know why people bashed the majestic? i thought carrey's got the gif for drama. althought the idea of him as a serious actor took time to get used to, he proved to us he's got what it take.
Jim Carrey did a good job with this character, but it came off kind of scary. When Andy did it, it seemed cute because of his natural boyish charm. But when Carry did it he seemed like he was trying to hard to imitate Andy.
I personally think that Edward Norton would have done a better job in this role.
Wolf, because everyone concentrates on his roles in Ace Ventura, The Mask, Liar Liar, Me Myself and Irene, and so on. They judge him primarily based on those instead of realizing how much potential he actually has. Take Man on the Moon or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, for instance. He's very talented.
I agree. He is underrated by the people who rate shit. But we know he is brilliant. And maybe he was just unlucky because in 1999 there were a lot of great movies and actors in it. So maybe he is not underrated... was he nominated in any of the more serious movies?
I mean he's not as recognized as he should be for being as well-rounded of an actor as he is. He's known for his goofy roles. Yes, he won a Best Actor Golden Globe for this movie. I think he should've gotten one for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or The Truman Show, but he didn't.
@QuiteHotBros That doesn't burst my bubble, that makes me happy! I didn't know that, thank you. I stand corrected. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of my favorite movies, I was shocked he didn't get one for that movie.. But The Truman Show, that was well deserved.
@KayPerestrello An audiences admiration is a greater accolade than some fuckin trophy or statuette .Oscars or whatever are all political and reliant on studio influence and commercial success.Pure populist bullshit.
@KayPerestrello Great Performances are not recognised because the criteria is bullshit.its not just based on merit alone.its based on publicity and to a lesser degree acting ability.if the academy awards endorse unknown films or performances people wouldnt feel they are as relevant.they award films that people like so ,they can remain relevant .
@WayTooDazedConfus3d Definitely. And I actually stand corrected about the Truman Show, he did get an award. But my point still stands that he's unrecognized as one of the better all around actors there are out there.
