i love the interesting caricture development that takes place between members of the group, especially between tin woodsman and scarecrow. when this was on when i was a kid i was too young to appreciate it much... but now i wish i could see the real thing.

Glinda does not have green hair in the original novel. And Elphaba or the Wicked Witch as I should say, is not purple.

Look: this was an 80s anime that was based on the ORIGINAL Book, and being Japanese they changed a few things because they felt it was different and new and more suited to their viewers.

Besides, they look more magical with these colours.

I just get tired of comments on Oz that seem too focused on MGM (or worse, Maguire) and don't seem to be aware of a wider interpretation.

Just like all of you, I wish the rights owners WOULD release the entire series on DVD. I believe the owners are Warner Brothers. People who have seen tell me that the HACK JOB of the movies are awful, and the full versions are better.

@RoyalKidofOz I saw the feature-length versions before I even knew there was a series, and I was impressed by the adaptation of "Wizard." It's still one of the most faithful versions out there.

Another reason is that the episodes I got the video from are in Hebrew. I think someone else has put the series in Spanish online. Go look for "Mago De Oz."

I have the four 90 minutes movies, the original japanese series in a box set which includes 10 dvds and the spanish cinar version

I bought the 4-disc dvd set but it was heavily butchered. The whole series is over 1000 minutes long and the dvd is only 400.

It's good enough to reminisce over but it leaves a lot of holes in the story line. Scenes jump about and some parts drag on because of the missing action sequences which was a big disappointment.

Hey RoyalKidOfOz, I don't suppose you could at least upload the intro sequence to this show (and the end credits sequence if you have it) pretty please? I seem to recall really liking the theme tune back in the day but have failed to find a single MP3 or video on the whole of the Net to take me back to those days once more. Seeing as you appear to have access to original footage, I don't supposed it'd hurt to ask you? Heh. =]

Which version? The video I used here is from the Hebrew dub, which is already on YouTube. I also have the English movies, but that's it.

once again, those are edited version of the 4 seasons chopped into 4 90min moves. the enitre series was very long and as of right now is only available in other countries.

i love this video. saw the link on the oz club. i miss the show. it was always my favorite version of oz other than mgm's. i wish they had the entire series available in the us. there's so much more. :(
