@johorean88 They are competitors, IranKhodro is bigger than SAIPA. IranKhodro is government owned while SAIPA is private. Also IranKhoro mostly makes passenger cars while SAIPA has less passenger models and mostly makes large diesel cargo vehicles.

A certain level of criticism of government is healthy and should always be there otherwise the government is going to become dictatorial and corrupt. At the other end there are Iranians who are still supporters of Shah and oppose an Islamic governments just like there Iraqis who still support Saddam to this day but they are in minority. I hope with Iran's help Iraq is going to become technologically advanced too. Cheers!

This is Iran's 3rd National Car, the first was Paykan. Then there was the Samand and now the Runna. Mashallah!!! You have to read the article in Forbes magazine that talks about the Iranian Empire replacing the void of the Ottoman Empire in modern times.

@ali34140 The Islamic Republic doesn't classify the Peykan as a National Car, because it was introduced during the Shah's time and it's design and engine was from the British. They don't classify it as an Iranian car because they hate the British and the Shah.

In reality the Samand is just the Peugeot 405. It's engine, chasis, suspension, body. etc. are all the same.

The Runna is just the 206 SD. It also shares the same engine, chasis, and other parts.

Islamic Republic can't do anything!!!
