Fuckin unbelievable. Its such a shame that an artist like this doesnt get the recongnition he deserves. He is the real deal. Pure emotion and talent that is undeniable.
The last time I saw William live, after every 2-3 songs he walked off the stage and shook hands and thanked every person in the crowd he could get to and thanked them for coming to see him play. I think he personally thanked every single person in that bar that night. He is absolutely brilliant and one of the best entertainers out there.
@thurmanmusic - thanks for the reply. Yeah we Hung with Will in Newcastle, England, so know he's a good bloke. It'd be great to see him on these shores again sometime. Pass on best wishes to him from the Newcastle lads he drank with. Thank you.
Yes, Will is a really cool cat. Humble as hell for the amount of success he's having. He was hanging out in the studio while my band, The Mayflies, were cutting our last record. (Will's cousin owns the studio that we, and Will, record at). He was super supportive of what we were doing, and totally self effacing. I love this guy, he rules. We're lucky here in Iowa, to have him around.
no se! como sea que cante o sea su estilo, no hay pedo! el vato toco bien perro la neta se la rifo chido... y no mames, vi esa madre en la Tele y yo bien marihuano y weeee!! se la saco el vato
Kind of gutted and happy for Will. See, few years back we supported him at Highbury Garage with Ten Grand. The room stood still when Will came on. That voice - just pinned people to the wall. Then on the Monday he came to Newcastle with Ten Grand, and stayed over at another friends and we drank lots and he (Will) fell down some stairs in a night club. Followed him for years and hate the idea of losing him to the masses but he deserves it. Come back Will, we need you.
an interesting story ... thanks. I know what you mean about losing someone to the masses, but we can't keep hold of people, and maybe the masses are not ready for him yet ;)
this "later" performance really made me stand and take notice too, a bit like that first Seasick Steve appearance but this was better .. this is a voice you cannot ignore, so imagine the live impact was a hundred times stronger.
@dg2274 Will is a friend of mine, we will never lose him to the masses. He is a down home and real as it gets. Will is the real deal. If you hung out with him, you know what I mean. I wish him all the luck in the world. I'm glad he's doing so well.
A nicer man you will never meet. Super sweet, awesome voice, poet beyond compare....ahhhh! William. Perfection. I've seen him seven times, at least, and sing his praises to everyone who will listen. I just wish I could see him in Dublin, because, well, I just want to be in Dublin! Also, incredibly cool that he made it on Jools Holland's show.
By pure chance, a week or so after introducing a friend in the states to his music (irony!), said friend happened to walk into a bar for a break from driving and William was singing! It was such a coincidence that my friend had to go up to William and explain the serendipity ... he also told me what a wonderful guy William is.
@Sammynobrain I met and got a chance to down a drink with him when he came through my town in the American Midwest. Everything you say is true. @Sammynobrain
@exlynxjock Yes, he is awesomeness personified, ain't he?! Getting excited, cuz he's coming back to St. Louis July 28, and come hell or high water, I WILL be there!
Good advice. In Hindsight probably shouldn't have said "fucking" to keep from looking like the usual internet basher. I was just really disappointed that that he didn't play something that matched his tone. I like his voice alot but would personally like to hear him play something a little more.. well good. Take some inspiration from The good, the bad and the queen - Kingdom of doom. Even Bob Dylan had catchier music to go with his poems.
@Nextmullen listen to someone else if you don't like his style. This writing is incredible, and if you can't see that you need to go listen to some one else.
couple of months ago. I saw it too, late at during a sleepless night: instant fan. Amazing voice, amazing songs. This guy is going to be huge, if not he oughtta be.
I had the honor of seeing him play tiny bars and at a college a couple of years ago. It was usually just him and his guitar or banjo. He was really upset when someone took his stool because his grandpa made it. That's the kind of guy he is. He's as nice as the day is long and he deserves to make it big.

The Voice is fantastic, great poet... but his music fucking sucks. Variation and some chord progressions are definitely needed.
