  • This was actually helpful. Thanks. I had a little problem. I couldn't see the PID column in Task Manager. So, in addition, if you've got the same problem go to View->Select Columns->Check PID

  • mhmm... when i went to task manager it saids that the System is using the PID and can't end process. Any help?

  • Worked great. Very grateful. Anyone know how to change the port Skype uses?

  • OMG!! You save my life!!! Thank you!!! In case anyone don't understand what he said in the video, I type here to explain. Your wamp is using port 80, if your other program like antivirus or online movie player are also using port 80, then your wamp will fail and not working. So you need to end task the program that is using port 80!!!

  • @gage2007 My case is QVOD player is using port 80. Haha.

  • @gage2007

Dear gage2007 thanks for the help in explaining the details here. I hope viewers will find it very helpful.

  • @gage2007 thanks bro for the better explanation... but the india guy is great...... thanks u guys

  • Hi! Thank you for your video, I can see it helped many people. Hoewver my 80 port is used by Process with ID 4, which - I can see from Task Manager - corresponds tu "System" process, which could not be stopped. What can I do in that case? Thank in advance.

PS. I worked with Wamp on another computer and never had any problembs.

  • the lamest explanation in the history ; learn english dude...

  • Hi, I have just downloaded wamp and have set up my local and placed some html files in it. Now that i have set my router and have bought a static ip, my local host would not open in my pc and when i use 192.168.2.2(local ip) the local still does not come. Local was coming when i typed localhost or local ip. Please let me know how i can fix the empty page and open my local once again? Thanks a lot

  • Thanks a bunch, man. It worked :)

  • Skype was the culprit. Thanks for your advice. Was panicking there for a while.

  • I don't have a PID in the Processes, just in the Services? The number doesn't even show up in mine? My PID is 4 but there is no 4 there??

  • @gymrat29 Are u saying that u can't find PID in the task manager window? If so, you have to click on the view and select columns sections then check the show PID box and it will show your PID column there.

    Regards

  • @gymrat29 Check is your IIS server is using that port and if so then go to "windows features on or off" and uncheck all the checkbox of "Ineternet Information Service". Restart your wamp...!!!

  • hey i still not get it wat u said... tell me what i have to do

  • @adodomoni Your wamp is using port 80, if your other program like antivirus or online movie player are also using port 80, then your wamp will fail and not working. So you need to end task the program that is using port 80!!! This video guiding you how to check which program is using port 80, and how to remove the program.

  • thanks that helped me figure out what was using the port - skype was the culprit. had to kill the skype process, restart wamp, restart skype and it worked! thanks again

  • In most of the cases skype is the main culprit...

  • what if your PID number for port 80 is 4 (system)? i recently added a microsoft IIS program, but i can't figure out how to deactive it and restore my WampServer to localhost

  • Hi Macantas

I did installed the IIS prgm 4rm Microsoft when installed XAMPP and Then i went to control panel-->Add/remove programs -->uninstalled IIS prgm. Everything is working fine on my side now as all my services were fine before installing IIS(XAMPP was the reason to install IIS) and now working fine after unistalling IIS

The Best thing u can do is go to Control panel-->Add or remove programs-->Add/Remove windows component-->uncheck the box for IIS

    Hope that helped.

  • Very helpful. There is one thing I would add however. When I did ctrl / alt / del the window it did not show the PID cloumn. I had to go to "view," "select column," and check the PID box. This got me the PID column and then I could find the Port 80. Thanks for your help.

  • Yes CountryTechie

I did the same 1st time, when I couldn't find the PID...Forgot to mention that ...

    Thanks for ur time mate
