Well I bought an ASUS monitor a 27" model and the screen started to flicker and randomly shut down I read about it and this specific model had a problem with it. I Made an RMA and sent my monitor away... a week later I got a brand new one so ye works fine now
YEA HEARD A LOT OF BAD THINGS ABOUT ASUS TALKED TO A SALESMAN AT MICROCENTER WHEN ASKED WHAT BOARDS COME BACK THE MOST HE SAID ASUS BUT HE STATED THAT COULD BE BECAUSE THAT WHAT THEY SELL THE MOST OFF I HAD TO RMA A GIGABYTE BOARD THEY WERE FANTASTIC EVEN THOUGH I BENT THE SOCKET PINS IN PREPARING IT FOR SHIP EXSPLAINING TO THEM MY LEFT ARM WAS PARALYZED THEY REPLYED TO ME WITH WE UNDERSTAND AND A NEW SOCKET WOULD BE INSTALLED BOARD CAME BACK POSTED FINE IM USEING IT NOW
I had a P5N72-T Premium motherboard that started crashing randomly. I sent it in for RMA and they jammed a screwdriver in the corner and denied the claim because of physical damage. There is no possible way the damage could have been caused any other way. The damage was not there when I sent it out.
@PossessedWarrior That's the problem with Asus, they flood the market with products and I can't say they aren't well thought out products a lot of the time however they simply do not care about their customers otherwise we wouldn't get treated like we won't be loyal customers. Gigabyte has never done me wrong and none of their boards going all the way back to socket 754 have died.
@jabcreations Good to know as I purchased a Gigabyte board to replace it. Windows is having trouble with it but thats Windows. I can fix that. The board is fine so far.
I had a similar experience with Asus tech support and RMA. I sent a defective motherboard after numerous phone calls and emails. I received a replacement that was used and dirty, and was also defective. I will NEVER (got that Asus idiots?) EVER buy any Asu(ck)s product EVER!
never buy asus i always had problems with there boards back when 939 was being used i had tons of problems and now when with the phenom chips it is just horrible go with MSI all the way.
Haha was trying to find links to ASUS's online RMA tracker dealie for my laptop when this came up. They have the worst customer service in the world (just try navigating their website). That alone guarantees I'm never buying from them, or recommending them to anyone ever again.
I had to RMA a M3A32-MVP in the past and I had the board back and fixed in 10 days including round trip shipping. I have had decent luck with Asus; however, you must consider they sell to the masses. They truely sell a ton of boards compared to alot of other companies. Gigibyte, EVGA, and DFI are great. I have two Foxconn boards...A7GM-S and A79A-S and both run great for the price. My A79A overclocks very well.
I understand your frustration, but this happens with almost every company, some more frequently than others I'll admit. I usually build my PCs for longevity; the last board I bought was an ASUS A7V8x back in 2004, never had a problem with it and it runs like a dream in my basement now...unlike my current MSI p6n diamond i bought in 2008 (what attracted me to it was actually the onboard x-fi and tons of pci-e slots) the problems with this board are endless, its too much to even go into it :)
It wasn't that the board died, it was that Asus refused to stand by their product after doing two RMA's! I certainly understand industry fail ratings (IBM's Deskstar ("Death Star") hard drives had a 18% failure rating right out of the factory at one point).
ah, yes, i wasnt paying attention in your video. Hopefully i never have to RMA anything...I chose not to RMA the MSI board for 1) according to MSI forums, every p6n had most of the same problems I was having, it was a terrible board on the equally terrible nvidia680i chipset and MSI pretty much left it in the dust after 6 months; and 2) I built a really complicated water cooling loop around it and decided it would be too much of a pain in my butt to take everything apart all over again.
Many companies including HP, Lenovo, Dell, Sony, and HP all use used parts for RMA and replacement parts. No surprise cell phone companies many times send used phones as well for replacements. It's a business.
Simply do not buy any ASUS products, they are poor quality (specially the laptops) and the customer support is the worst I ever saw. (Unfortunately I have an ASUS laptop and I sent it to be repaired many times with the same issue, and I have friends with the same problem then from my experience the failure rate is 100%.)
saw your post on newegg to "youtube asus rma".....
I'm 20 and I've been building pc's since I was 6 with my dad. The top boards back in the day were Intel and ECS. Stabe, smooth awesomeness. Todays TOP Amd boards are Gigabyte and DFI. For Intel, stick with EVGA strictly just because they never let you down.
Good luck on further builds, sorry to hear you got sperm on your MB ew. Should have turned it on, see if it would come back to life and goo up, LOL JP JP JP JP JP
My mobo should support 4GB RAM according to web, and manual specs. It doesn't.
I have sent the mobo to the store, and they tested it and verified that the web specs are bull*it, and now they are offering me a refurbished mobo that support what was promissed by the specs.
However that replacement mobo is "one that was returned from the manufacturer after capacitor replacement".
Having a similar problem here in the UK, bought a £320.00 Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard, it was D.O.A had to return it to the reputable company in the UK
They said that the pins were bent, I know I didnt, but unless I singed a waiver removing the 3 year warrantee they would try and fix it, last I heard the £320.00 board is being sent back to ASUS C**P
My friend rma'd his striker extreme 8 times prior to them getting it right. One usb header is not powered on my p5n32-e (wtf) and when I hotplug any usb device the system takes it upon it self to reset(isolated the mobo aka "benched" to no avail.) Asus was really good (PII/III ish) now they are complete crap.
asus can rest assured i wont buy there crap for my future core i7 next im trying a evga mobo. (after my xfx warranty experience i wont be buying there products either)
Same thing happened to me. I had a P5B-plus board that was a year old. It went out on me and I rma'd it. They send me back a clearly used board with bent header pins and broken ram socket clips. Called em up and they said sounds like shipping damage. Uh no It wasn't, It left thier warehouse like that. I've been using Asus boards for years now, and I'm done with them. I'm looking at an Abit board now. I hope I have a better experience with them.
I thought Asus was one of the better brands out there, I guess I was wrong. I have a cheapy m2n motherboard :D btw whats a good brand to get other than Asus? I had a gigabyte and after using it for 5 years the capacitors rusted :/
I recently read about Creative attacking someone who was writing drivers for their hardware in Vista. Not that I like Vista (at all) but I'm not going to buy any more Creative products ever again because of this.
I'll have to agree I bought a ASUS P5N-SLI I think it was for INTEL 775 had the SLi slots great features.
We had to RMA it to ASUS to there UK site they asked for a cheque for £7 and to send the board in a plain box. We did all that after 2 weeks we e-mailed them they didn't have the board and the RMA number was not on there system. We lost a motherboard and thats all we got they wouldn't even send a new 1. And my SATA ASUS DVD-ROM had it for 5 months and it's failing to read CD's now.
I love my ASUS boards. I have never had a problem with any of their products. RAID is rather simple to configure as well. I run it on all of my systems.
Raid never worked on any of my nForce 4 motherboards. Just because claims it is on does not mean it's working, just ask anyone who powers on their computer and doesn't see anything on their screen! :-D
