@PetetheJazzMan agreed. I think there is sometimes a translation difference in between the way UK comedy, and american comedy tends to be delivered. As such, some americans are fanatics for british humor, and others are put off by it. This reminds me of british humor being delivered in a more american style. I could, possibly, be talking entirely from my ass here, though.
@BalsamicWeevil I've been trying to figure it out for ages and having no luck. Searched on musipedia by melodic contour (of both the lead violin and the lower part) and by pitch, lots of matches but none were right :(
@batlin Yeah I tried some free software called Tunatic, it was able to identify recent hits and some of the more common classical stuff when I tested it on youtube but no luck with this unfortunately

Tim Key is way, way too similar to David Brent.
The deliberately lame pauses in his speech, the awkward style, the put-on sincerity.
It's just the old formula: 'Say something deliberately lame, but put it across in a sincere to generate awkwardness and pity, this is therefore funny'. This is the formula for The Office, which did it first, and did it much better.
Well, no. If you have ever watched This is Spinal Tap you will know that film did it first (Ricky Gervais has also admitted this in the past). If you ask me, Tim Key isnt that similar to Brent. Did you ask me? Oh.
@uraniumgrenade nahh david brent is cringeworthy, this guy has a not bothered attitude about it, so that makes him different enough for me. it didn't even cross my mind
anybody know what the music is in the background? cheers!
Tim Key is amazing, how anyone can dislike this is beyond me. At first i didn't think much of it, but then as i thought about it, suddenly it became so funny!
Im amazed at how many people read into "poetry" like this and make themselves believe that there is something witty or genius pushing out of what he says.
I'm a little disappointed. Not sure what I was expecting other than great things from this Fringe winner....
Well, I realised that it was put together for a comedy purpose and more than likely a "spoof". Its still not reaaally to my taste. From what I had read previously, I was expecting something amazing.
I am always prepared to keep watching and things sometimes develop and a taste for his style might develop.
I used to hate Mushrooms as a kid and now I can't get enough of them.
I love Tim Key. I like the way in which this poem is about something so stupid as a TV programme! Also, I love the way in which he shows so much contempt for his subject matter. Genius.
there seems to be very little Tim Key on the web, beyond the screenwipe and a few grainy stand up clips, really need to find more, perhaps of his radio series, but can't seem to track any down!

He's on 'Mark Watson makes the world Substantially better' - comedy show on BBC Radio 4 It's on the iplayer at the moment. It's good stuff. worth a listen.
