The Beatles are so over rated as a band and as a talent as well, unfortunately Led Zeppelin will never receive the recognition they deserve as a band and as for the Beatles they were just a Bubble Gum Band including everything from fad songs to the Yellow Submarine wow Led Zeppelin is by far the greatest band in the history of Rock N Roll so who cares about the Beatles

@free2bekirk thanks for sharing YOUR opinion. Both bands you talk about have been revered in Rock-n-Roll for both of their influences on music. The Beatles were/are great; as were Led Zeppelin. Both bands had members in them influenced by other musicians (early RnR and Blues guitarists especially) and they in turn have been influential to many musicians today. Led Zeppelin is/was a great band and I'm thankful they created. But the Beatles are not over-rated.

Is it strange for a gay man to dedicate this song to a straight woman? Such a beautiful ballad. Someone said that George Harrison told Robert Plant the only problem with Zep's music was that they didn't have any ballads, so Zep did Thank You. Can anyone confirm that story? Not sure if I believe it or not. Don't think Robert cared one way or the other of what George thought of Zep's music.

@cleverlouanne Yes, I know the story as well - it's what prompted The Rain Song, with Page paying tribute to Harrison's Bealtes classic Something with the half-step drop in the opening guitar part. What struck me was that Harrison was wrong; Zep had indeed written a ballad, this masterful classic we have here.

Of course, that conversation was way back in high school, and ole boy probably thought he was stating a fact. @seejay1001 I don't know where you are getting your facts but the Beatles were never inspiration to any of Zep's songs. As a matter of fact Page says it on the How the West Was Won video. This song was written for Maureen Plant, Roberts wife.These Lyrics were penned by Plant alone, it took alot of ribbing to get Plant to pen a love ballad. He said he would like to write this for his wife. Zep was never inspired by the Beatles, they were Delta Blues boys. Look at the interview on HTWWW video.
