  • Thank you for posting this. I hope to learn Russian in the future, but right now even something as simple as Medvedev is a little difficult to articulate without some help. :)

  • Kalinka Kalinka Kalinka Kaya

    Sadu yagoda malinka malinka maya

    Love that song

  • this is absolutely hilarious. i love it! i think my favorite part is when her cat appears.

  • @MyDoominateR - And yet you feel compelled to come here and comment. Maybe the necessity of this video goes beyond simple communications, delving into the psychology of inadequacy.

  • Thank you but I just got back from fishing.

  • still doesn't change the fact that he's a douchebag

  • Да мы можем :)

  • Why not say, "President Bear?"

  • Cool. Now I think I can try to pronounce his name (hopefully). Thank you very much!

  • I think it's perfectly acceptable to pronounce his name as "Med-ve-dev" or "Med-veah-dev"

People get confused and and say stuff like "medvevedev",

English people sometime struggle to pronounce names like his because it's not something we say everyday, like how Japanese people sometimes struggle to speak English, because we pronounce things very differently.

  • Да, мы можем!

  • Yes Weekend!

  • Hillary Clinton could use this lesson LOL

  • She is gorgeous.

  • Great! I passed this on to all my American friends! Greetings from Serbia!

  • That's a BEAUTIFUL CAT!

  • Who cares about Medvedev? Just Obama, Shakashvili, NATO, Europe, India, China, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Alaskans and Palin, Japan, North Korea, Iran, Ukraine, Serbia, EU, UN, G8, etc etc etc. Mostly cause Russia's respected and feared. Oh how could I possibly forget, Russians themselves!!! :)))

  • Thank you.

  • Poor cat. Obama no.

  • Heh, I already knew how to pronounce his name, but I still enjoyed the video!

Nice music and, of course, sticker at the end!

  • no sticker

  • Thank you - that was very helpful!

  • Obama pronounced it wrong in his most recent video titled "Obama Touts Global Alliances"

  • haha That cat is sooo cutte! Good job on this video :)

  • I liked her accent. WTF is wrong with people today ? I thought it was funny and cute for her to play with the kitty while she was trying to teach us how to pronounce it. Be nice.

  • oh, even Kosha voted for Obama :P

  • heh Luba brainwashed silly americans with that vid so they vote for Obama lol

  • +1

    Hehehehe great vid =)

    "Even kosha remembers, hehe

  • хорошое видео

  • Do all Ukrainians speak Russian? How cognate is the Ukrainian language to Russian? Are the Belorussians Russians? Does Belarus mean "beautiful Russia." What do you think of Nikita Khrushchev? I read his memoirs and I think he was a decent man. Where can I find articles you have written? Are there English translations? I am in Virginia which borders your state.

  • Yes, almost all Ukrainians speak Russian, the Russian language have been an official language of Ukrain for centuries. There is a differencе between these languages (in spelling, grammar, pronounciation) but anyway people can understand each other. No, Belorussians are not Russians, they are another nation, but they have much more in common with Russians than Ukrainians. Word "Belarus" can be devided in two parts - "Belaya Rus'" that translates as "White Russia".

  • Where did u find "differencе in grammar"?

  • Etnecserc

belarus doesnt mean beautiful russia (or at least in russian) all ukrainians can speak russian and the ukrainian language is simular but different to russian

  • bela=white

  • Thanks so much for making this video, it actually helped me make a case in my PoliSci class.

  • cool med vee ah div..

    big bear man..

    Uncle Jon MacNugget fires LLOL

  • In the last two weeks the political/social events in Georgia really forced me to learn how to pronounce Mr. President Medvedev. Otherwise I would look like Hillary Clinton :-)

So I landed on your video with the friendly cat named Kosha, and you made it so simple with your delightful presentation. I laughed about the "BIG bear" because Medvedev is not that big (he is not a weight-lifter)!

  • You should learn english pronunciation

  • Thank you for your wonderful suggestion. I work on it every day.

  • I wonder why Russians are for Obama though? "He criticized Russia's presidential election by stating that the vote was not fully free and fair, due to the absence of free media and a crackdown on political parties and the opposition.

He gets coaching from Zbigniew Brzezinski, a man not known for any kind feelings toward Russia. His principal Russia guy is Michael McFaul, one of the most vocal Putin critics in Washington. And he gets his lectures on democracy promotion from George Soros."

  • Wutru, Russians are for Obama just because they are tired of Bush's fuck ups.

  • We are all part of Indo-European Language family anyway! English from Germanic branch, and Russian from Slavic branch.

The Indo-European Family is thought to have originated in the forests north of the Black Sea (in what is now Ukraine) during the Neoloithic period (about 7000BC). These people bagan to migrate between 3500BC and 2500BC, spreading west to Europe, south to the Mediterranian, north to Scandinavia, and east to India.

Thanks to Ukraine we are family in language!

    lol

  • Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ...

Americans REALLY need a teacher like her. Stupids.

  • to dswynne; the reason this video was posted was so that Americans could pronounce the name correctly and wouldn't appear stupid like hillary clinton

  • I know. I'm just saying that's mispronouncing name should not be an indication of intelligence. I'm sure that there is some African, Asian or Latino person who would have a hard time pronouncing Medvedev's name, due to the syntax (the consonants tend to not be strung together, or are followed with a vowel). "Medvedev" sounds more consonant friendly than "Putin". That's all I'm saying.

  • Sorry, I mean't to give a thumbs up. I think the reason people are so quick to assume Americans are dumb is because, our leader is President Bush. But he'll be leaving office soon, just a few more months.

  • Well, the Bush Administration is one big "comedy of errors", where there is no punchline, and nobody is laughing...

  • Comment removed

  • It is a shame Obama could not be at the bottom of his class like Bush and McCain. That would really help him identify with low information American voters.

  • dswynne, surprise even Africans and Asians pronounce his name right. Americans have problem with other languages plus they don't give a shit about learning anything, they prefer to stay uneducated which means "stupid".

  • Tell thenkful tu all the world that they truing to understand weird acts of Americans and dont beet their face for ofensive words.

But in Brazilia they started bitting up American turists. It means, you have to agree that US is not the onlu country in the world with humans- everyone needs respet:)

  • The problem is only 1/3rd of the American population actually pays attention to anything outside of the US. They just don't, either because they don't know or don't care. That's why many of them are surprised whenever non-Americans criticize American foreign policy. It's like "Huh? What? When was this?" It's just genuine ignorance, that's all.

  • i understand about "genuin":)..its kinda sounds "sweet". but to be ignorant !!!??? is it ok to be like that? is it a norm? and when someone in the same genuin way start offending foreigners or talking bullshit- is it a norm? im a foreighner. and ... i have no words to deskribe the "picture" of americans..i mean the rest 2/3 of them....shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't make value judgments on the American psyche, since I want to remain as objective in my observations as possible. Little known fact: only a third of Americans wanted independence back in 1776, so this "two-thirds of apathy" business is, unfortunately, "the norm". It's like, "Ehhh...whatever..." Sadly, the ONLY time the citizenry perks up about anything is when their personal liberties are threatened by the government (like the 1960s). Otherwise, "Ehhhh...whatever."

  • The war of independence was for the most part unjustified. That's why, if what you say is true, 2/3rds pf Americans where apathetic or uncommitted to independence. Unfortunately, from what I can tell, the American perspective of of its independence tries to paint old king George as a tyrant for trying to recover the costs of administering for the colonials. The taxes he imposed where reasonable, and besides the colonials not being represented in parliament, the colonials had no case for war.

  • Every country has had a bad history but not many country are evil today!

  • that propaganda when they say Russia have skinheads.

Even thoug a Russian was stabbed in uk 3-weeks ago by football hooligans, One week later when the UK fans went to Russia to watch the final of Manchest vs Chelsea, there were no fight at all. But... there was a a huge riot which happened in LOndon, the chelsea fan caused a huge riot which made the whole police force of london get involved.

    Today Russia=peace

  • Классно, весело и обаятельно:) Kosha for president!!!:D

  • nice video.also add hes isnt a jew khazar boy! hes a orthodox christian!

  • Thank you for posting this.

I wouldn't mind more lessons from Lyubov Yarovaya. Smart, fun, and beautiful.

    Да мы можем

    Indeed.

  • We are working on more! Thank you. :))

  • Hehe... would have been better if you were sitting next to Hillary and could yell the correct pronunciation at her when she butchered his name. I dont think that was a big issue but then saying 'Medved... whatever' was disrespectfull and not very diplomatic - like the manner of Bush.

  • people all over the world is asking for MORE lessons from Lyubov Yarovaya. Even kosha loves her lessons

  • great video! hillary clinton needs to watch this!

  • She inspired the video ;)

  • I agree with a previous commentator . Ukranian woman are the prettiest on earth ( No small thing , by the way )

  • thank you. i hope i can say his name now. i am portuguese, by the way.

  • It's easy for a portuguese speaking person to pronounce that name anyway.

  • Very cool, thx!

  • You are welcome :)

  • Hilarious, noodz please.

  • I don't think so!

  • ok, not good english at all... but!

you can understand, what's meant... and maybe even should learn the name of Putin's puppet, as it could free itself from the master's strings

  • I am a very kind person:)

  • strange and stupid video:)))

  • How kind of you!

  • holy shit

  • Why play Hava Nagila? Russians and Jews have nothing in common.

  • This is Kalinka-Malinka and it is considered a Russian folk standard. And I am not sure why you say the Russians and Jews have nothing in common. I would present WWII and Nazi Germany as a starting point.

  • shalom :)

  • Peace :))

  • how do you prnounce mevedev? P U T I N!

  • Very possible.

  • Heh, nice lesson :)

  • That is the most beautiful women I have ever looked at...

  • I travel alot, and I can say without a doubt that ukrainian women are the prettiest -)

  • I can't yet but I am working on that although I am not sure what that has to do with the pronunciation of Medvedev.

  • I'm positive it has nothing to do with it. Thanks for helping us with the pronunciation :)

  • that was for Elvin...

  • BRAVO!!! (applause)

  • Thanks for the lesson, Lyuba. Good job!

  • I was searching for a place where I could learn how to pronounce Medvedev, and I found this! Amazing, thank you so much! :) You should really have some "learn russian" videos here, I want to learn russian, and you seems to be a good teacher. ;) Anyway, thanks for the video, and what a great answear to Elvin! /Jessica

  • Well done, Ms. Yarovaya. As for misanthropic comments about your English, you have just enough Russian influence in your diction to charm half the American male population under the age of 80. My solution for tongue-tied 'Anglos': Dmitry.

  • Thank you! I am trying very hard to do just that. In fact, I think I can help you out. The W in "why" should be capitalized. The word "you" is spelled y-o-u. The word English is always capitalized. Only one puctuation mark is used at the end of a sentence and in this case, it should have been a question mark. How am I doing so far Elvin?

  • There I go again! "punctuation" :))

  • Oh, Elvin, I have more help for you. The contraction "don't" should have an apostrophe between the N and the T.

  • You tell him girly!

  • I'm impressed! You can teach both English and Russian! (Although I must admit that teaching correct English writing to the average American YouTube poster is not too hard... or is it? ;-) ).

  • ignorant US a-hole. i really would like to see you speak russian. do you know any other language than english? in europe it is common that people know at least 2 foreign languages. i'm not a russian, but i had a chance to personally observe the inteligence of you americans. most of you had no idea, where or what Europe is...

  • Haha!.... Good point. You got it right! I'm russian myself. Been to Europe, speak 2 foreign languages.

  • I don't know why people have such aa hard time pronouncing this. You made it seem very simple to me.

  • Love it!!

  • Absolutely agree.

  • Luba it was good. Medvedev will be president anyway (like it or not), and it's already a time for americans to remember this name. Russian guy from Canada and Obama supporter. Why it is so difficult to say for americans? I don't get it.

    Sergey Goodin.

  • Thanks Sergey! Like him or not, Medvedev will be President of a sovereign nation and deserves the simple respect of pronouncing his name correctly.

  • love it!!!

  • I love this video!!!

  • This is wonderful...Obama people are the BEST! Can we send this to Hillary?
