@TheLovemeorgo Yeah, except there's a massive difference between men's and women's tennis simply because the men use every muscle they have to get maximum speed and spin on the ball, where as the women use much less lower body/core and hit flatter. (Obviously that's a generalization.) Ergo, size/stamina/strength matters less in the women's game, and it's easier for a younger/smaller woman or girl to do against older opponents than it is for a boy.

With all due respect this kid is not the 'real deal.' His technique is dismal. He hits most his shots off the back foot, mishits/slaps a huge amount, and he is playing on an acrylic surface - a medium paced court. He should have far more time to prepare for his shots - especially with his footwork which is the 'real deal.'

As for not knowing what I am talking about... I played tennis up until the age of 15. Played in a British academy and was under 16 top 5 in the country...

kids I used to play with when they were 10/11 are now this guys age and top 3 in the country. Let me put it into perspective. Kids at 14 years old who are going to make it somewhere, should be able to give the under 18s a run for their money. When I was 14 I could take sets of the ex UK number 1.

Sure, in your defence you may think about 'racket head speed' and again, sure, you may think he hits in a similar way to Raphael Nadal, but name any other player in the top 100 who hits like this...

the fact is, they don't. Nadal's power is generated in his legs. This kid hits leaning backwards and uses his legs to maybe 50% of their total capacity. He also isn't built to have that playing style.

As for where I've had my coaching. I had maybe 10 coaches up until age 13. Then for 1 year had a team of four guys, of whom two had awsome credentials - one had coached the ex European junior boy under 18 number 1, the other coached Radek Štěpánek in Czech. So go figure.

for christ sake, you need to learn to take constructive criticism. The kid is very good. I'm not saying he isn't. I'm saying that he has technical flaws which WILL hinder him in the future. It's how coaching works. I've had highly qualified coaches, who have coached pro players so I have subsequently learnt a lot myself. I stopped playing because I didn't like the sport any more. Plus I knew I wouldn't ever be top 100 material. A good coach doesn't have to be a good player. Quit sounding moronic
