  • Whaaaaaaa? Aren't you supposed to cover the entire cake with 1 piece of rolled-out fondant so you don't have seams along the edges?

  • *fondant

  • thumbs up if you ahte ''expertville'' with a passion!

  • @Erulastielworrior why did you watch them then?

  • this is by far the most useless youtube channel EVER.

  • imagine eating a slice of that cake. its so tall lol

  • I see what you're going for, but using just ONE piece, not 5, of fondant would have been easier and much more appealing.

  • Better*

  • I can Make berree cakes than that and im 12 foo's ohh btw ima Make and show my cakes not on this channel SuperEdwardCullen13 noo ima Make a new 1 and they Will be better than this and SuperEdwardCullen is just for me to comment on vídeos and look (:

  • Behold: The crap cake.

  • expert village get the worst people to do the job there supposed to :L

  • Its supposed to be smooth.... Hense the whole reason for fondant.

  • yeaaaa.... just one piece of fondant rolled out to the proper size and smoothing is all that's needed....but hey different strokes for different folks..

  • it looks like crap do you know how to make a cake youre sopposed to cover the cake with fondant all at once not cover the cake one edge by edge

  • O.O

  • AM Just Laughing My Ass Off Reading The Comments, damn!! LOLZ

  • I think it's quite rude to offend someone who's ideas and suggestions can help out many people who are just beginning. She is quite brave to be doing this live. Plus, if you took a second to see the beautiful finishing product, you might change your opinions.

  • What the fuck is wrong with her? I know nothing about fondant and cakes yet even I know that's fucking ignorant and stupid! Also ugly as fuck, this should be called "shitty village" not expert. Leave the expert's doing TO the experts.

  • the fondant will stretch if you need it to?

MY GOD KAREN, YOU WOULDN'T IT TO IF YOU DIDNT CUT THE BITCH UP BEFORE YOU PUT IT ON THE CAKE!!!

    im sorry

this video makes me so goddamn angry i can't imagining being a cake decorator and watching this X_X

dear karen, WATCH THE FUCKING FOOD NETWORK SOMETIME, K? dammit!

  • @PassionToTheSky HAHAHAHA lol!

  • horrible

  • " hi im karen from expert village" SHUTUPPP !!!!!

  • expertvillage my ass. What the heck happened to the experts?

  • three words; WHAT THE FUCK :s

  • Absolutely awful. I'd be embarrassed.

  • is this a joke

  • she is horrible and taught horribly

  • Those of you who are watching this to learn how to do it...please don't do it this way. If you do you'll end up with buttercream squishing out between the edges of the pieces of fondant. The best way to cover any shape ...round, square, heart, etc... is by rolling out one thin sheet of fondant, rolling it onto your rolling pin and then rolling it out onto your cake, smoothing as you go. Squares are harder to do than rounds but you just need to practice.

  • if all of u know how to work it better than this....then u shuldnt be watching it in the first place...!!!!

  • Village, true. Expert, NOT!

  • this is definitely a cake that should be presented on CAKEWRECKS(dot)COM ! :D (and I mean for the real wrecks.. not those amazing sunday sweets)

  • I wouldnt cover my cake in bits, loads on youtube that do the fondant in one piece.. other than that the cake looks nice. but to messy for a birthday gift .

  • what a fuck????????????????????? bullshit

  • HI! IM KAREN FROM EXPERT VILLLAGE! give me a break...

  • Whoever taught this lady to cover cake with fondant that way, should be shot. In the face.

  • Ouch! so as a beginner this is a how NOT to do it and go with the oens showing the whole piece covering the entire cake? Unfortunately these are shown on round cakes I haven't found one for a square or oblong cake yet.

  • @conwayinkzn there is one for square cakes

  • Gift decorations &Party Holiday decorations supplier

see our website yuyao wanji gift packaging co., ltd.

  • hI! im karen with expert village! and im going to show u how to not make a cake!

  • I find these videos so useless! you would think that the start of the video would be the beginning of the process. In addition to that, when I try to find the beginning of the process...it's as if the video doesn't exist. If these people are supposedly "experts" why are they providing a half-assed tutorial about their trade???

  • Are you kidding me...ive never seen someone cover a cake like this! Im embarassed for her, so sad. Im a professional cake decorator, if my cakes looked like this, I would never make any money....this video needs to be taken off the site.

  • @JustCakinIt

I'm a professional too and I totally agree with you. If I sold cakes like this to my clients I'd never get a call back. This is the problem with people learning cake decorating on the internet.

  • Thats not how u put fondant on, that looks totally unprofessional, im 12 and i cold make a cake look better then that.

  • fail

  • ThenYouStand is right. who takes there time to do that not me!

  • that cake fails!

  • yeahh why would u put it on in pieces? im sorry but that looks terrible. i would never buy a cake that looked like that.

  • -iwould so not eat that . iwould rather just starve than eat that . looks so unprofessional . wow . waste of my 3min +& 4sec .

  • it would look better if you put the fondant all over then cut, that's how professionals do it

  • the cake...looks like crapola!

  • i also don't wanna b rude but maybe one large piece would work better because the cake looks a lil messy and like the fondant might fall off

  • What the heck!!..that was painful to watch...well at least she tried!! :o

  • doesnt look so good lol

    check out my cakes :)

  • spreading pallets?

  • uhh lady yew is wasten time!!hahaha FUNN-DANT????WTF??

  • mmmmm im not sure how much that looks like a box

  • uh... yeah thats how you do it... if you want your cake to look like THAT! lol

  • Only a few changes could make this so much better. After putting on the crumbcoat you need to chill the cake for about 30 mins and then do basically what she's done but with much thicker fondant (about 5-7 mm) .

  • my friend said the SAME thing as u guyz. I was like, its ok, u need 2 do patchez cuz itz easier dat way. then i read the comment box. lol

  • like looks like dog shit

  • everything expertvillage does sucks... i mean have u seen the doll they try 2 make...if some1 made me a cake as horrible as they do i would hate the person...

  • i can't see anything

    its al to white!

  • wtf......im not trying to be rude, and there's no wrong way to do it, but an easier way would be to roll out one large piece and put it over the whole cake. Not making patches..

  • @ThenYouStand the reason for not putting a huge sheet of fondant over is because the cubic shape would make the excess fondant fold over, and it would take really intense professional skill to get around that problem.

  • @PopTVTeacher You just use the spatula thing like you use on the round cakes. I've made a square fondant cake with just one sheet of fondant and it didn't roll over...And I'm not a professional. Oh well, to each his own. :)

  • @ThenYouStand I agree but without the (WTF). LOL! that is how I do it. One whole thing and that's that. But I think why they choose that method is that it's easier to handle on the cake cause sometimes especially according to weather, it's a bit difficult to lift and place over a large cake by your self :-)

  • @ThenYouStand

Yes...there are wrong ways to do it...and this is one of them.

  • theres a much easier, better looking way to do this...

  • Very nice video. I had not thought of cutting squares of fondant. I usually use one whole piece. I would think the squares would give a much sharper edge than I have been able to get with a whole piece. I will try this method next time. By the way, some people have such a boring and sad life. Ignore them.

  • Those comments were pretty rude, I think if you have a thought you should share them carefully and thoughtfully. Whomever produced this video please don't allow these comments to affect you, I am sure you are contributing to their unemployment cheques:)

  • oh!!~

    wanna kick your hand .

    waste time !!~

  • that looks like crap! Watch the cake decorating shows on TV and see how its supposed to be done. I'm no expert but my cakes look better than that!

  • this is what your not suppose to do. good job experts!

  • she just made this cKE WAY HARD TO DO YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO USE ONE BIG FONDANT AND COVER THE WHOOLE THING SHE MADE MORE COMPLICATED PEOPLE DONT HAVE THE TIME TO MAKE 5 SQURAE FONDANTS

  • i am i person who always want to make it perfect (idk the name) and she bothers me so much plus

    5. all their cake look like a turd....

i just want to strangle them "shut up and do it right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • have you noticed:

    1. they all say fondant in an annoying way

    2. they arent experts

    3. they make it even hard then ever

and 4. all their bios are the same!!!!!!!!!!

OMG YOU DARE CALL YOURSELF AN EXPERT!!!!!!!????!!!!!!!

  • You're supposed to use one big piece of fondant to cover the whole cake so you dont have seams, and the cake is supposed to be chilled. You can see her cake kinda wiggling underneath the fondant. :P

  • why is she covering the cake sides one by one? i dont get it...dont ppl usually just put ONE BIG drape of the fondant on the cake and then cut off the access? i mean expert village really sucks at cakes, they need REAL experts

  • Why do they call it expert village? She has made this as hard as humanly possible, and is not an expert. Anyone following this would give up on ever trying fondant again.

  • that looks like crap.

  • tottaly agree LOL

she could of just used more fondant and covered the whole cake

  • i totally agree

  • how do you make the top?

  • You should use one LARGE piece of fondant to cover the entire cake so you don't have seams...

  • "spreading pallets" ? ...

  • lol. it's actually called a smoother

  • i think that howdiniguru is better than expert village liv hansen is so so much better.

  • like,WAY better

  • when ever i try to put the frondant on the cake it jusy rips any tips?

  • this is so wrong!

  • For something so needlessly complicated, it sure looks like crap.

  • wrong or correct instructions, this is more or less the only way you prepare "cakes" in america: you just use icing sugar to cover the whole "work of art" and the filling. The result is a wonderful effect at first sight but a "fake cake" indeed. Using fresh products, fruit, fresh cream or whipped cream would cause your White House to collapse. In Europe we have a different way to prepare cakes and things like that. We tend to avoid butter creams, icings, we love syrups to tender sponge etc

  • These instructions could not be more wrong.

  • I feel like if I were to bake a cake and it looked like this one a homeless person wouldn't want one slice of this crap and then she kinda presented the cake like see how good it looks. If anyone tries this method and feel like they didn't quite get it right then they are absolutely correct cuz its fucced up

  • expert village sucks with cakes. watch howdiniguru. liv hansen is so much better, i tell ya.

  • I've never made a cake like this before, but I would drape a huge bit of that stuff over the whole thing. Probably work better

  • Yeah, and then after that, cut off the excess.

  • That is EXACTLY what I was going to say!

  • I ve seen alot of cakes covered in fondant and the point of covering a cake with fondant is to gove a seamless covering to a cake. this looks a MESS!! If a beginner is trying to "fondant" a cake just roll it out into one large piece, drape it, and smooth then you wont have to worry about the "Raggedy Ann" sides this cake has.

  • I would never recommend covering a fondant cake this way. The draping method will look MUCH more polished! Bad video. Bad technique. Beginner cake decorators, stay away!

  • I know, this cake is very messy. I hope all the newbie cake decorators dont watch this video and think that this is the proper way to put fondant on a box shaped caked! Looks terrible! No offense! I would have used one big piece to go over the whole thing and just smooth it out. Bad vid.

  • expert village doesnt know what an expert is alot of their videos have "false" information

  • what are you using to cover the cake?

i'm looking for this kind of cream... fondant? is it? i don't know i live in spain and i don't find iit :S

    please answee rmee!

  • Fondant is a sugary dough that is used to cover cakes but there are quite a few definitions for it. You don't have to buy fondant. You can make them yourself! It's really easy and it taste much better than store bought.

  • maybe it would've been better if u just rolled out one big piece of fondant and just blanket it all over the cake then just cut off all the excess at the base later..by that you wouldn't even have the trouble of measuring and cutting so many pieces together just to cover it evenly.

  • y didnt u just put a big peice of fondant over the whole thing..it would look so much better than with the edges of the fondant on the corners

  • im pretty sure she used this technique to make it look like a "GIFT BOX"

just watch the whole bunch of videos before complaining

  • great vid, but the sound of rubbing the mat is like nails on a chalk board

  • how do u not eat the fondant??

    it is amazing!!!

where can i find it though?

  • You can make it at home very easily with marshmallow and powdered sugar. Just do a search on Google for homemade marshmallow fondant recipes and you'll see.

  • WHERE CAN I FIND THE FONDANT

  • shes not even Done yet and people are Complaining! have a cup of patience With a dash of STFU

  • Sorry, I'm not an expert on cake decorating or anything, but one of the wonders of fondant is the flawless porcelain-like finish... those edges just ruin that.

  • ei guys..i know the cakes looks shit but only for now...check the finish cake she did with this technique...youll surely gonna like it!

  • No, it's still rubbish, don't give up the day job!!!

  • plsz tell me ur trying 2 make it look like a block of tofu. cuz thts wat it looks like 2 me.

  • that looks like SHIT

  • is that for real i hope she dont do that for a living she aint rich

  • That looks terrible. I would be embarrassed to serve a cake like that.

  • wtf

    this is stupid;

just make a gaint fondant and put it on.

    WTF

  • Should have rolled one giant sheet of fondant and placed it over the cake. Then smoothed it out. You wouldnt have to worry about those ugly edges.

  • Tottaly agree

  • oh my god! wear gloves! this is disgusting!

  • lol that looks horrible

  • I'v been watcing expert village videos for about 2days now and iv come to realize they are all inexperienced people ._. all of the videos are kinda bleh.

  • fundont?

    I thought it was fondant?

  • hahahaha that looks really crapppy

  • i dont like this video

  • Was this decorated in the dark?? Absolute rubbish.

  • You can say that again!

  • hi..cool cake ..

  • I think noone posting videos on expert village has claimed to be an expert, has he? One glance and you understand that this is a platform for people to present their own skills acquired through hobbies or even their jobs, but nothing they´d claim to be the one best expert in. They just share what they love doing. I think the idea is great, and if you don´t get the purpose of it all at first glance then I´d suggest some further critical media studies to become a more qualified media consumer.

  • That looks terrible.

  • thats one sloppy cake

  • no on expert village is an actual expert.

    haha

  • AGREED

  • where can I get some good fondant? I've found some, but its crappy, and crumbly. I'm considered the Pastry Chef in the family and I've always done cupcakes, or cookies. I want to do a cake this year, but I want some fondant on it. Any help?

(I LOVE THIS AUDIO PREVIEW THING :])

  • look at me video's fondant making and how to cover a cake with fondant

  • oh i forgot, when i said that it looks like if it were hard i was asking before she covered it with the fondant because she touched it and looked like if it were frozen or something

  • can anyone tell me why does the cake looks like if it were hard? does it need to be placed in a freezer or something? i want to learn to do this but that step if the one that has been bothering me for a while because i can't find an answer anywhere

    p.s.

sorry for my bad English =S

  • It is a good idea to put it in the fridge at least to firm up, doesn't have to be frozen tho.

  • ???

  • wtf

she should have just covered the entire cake at one time, why make it more time consuming lol

  • Expert Village my ass.. They always give bad advice on these "Expert" Village videos...

  • lol exactly wot i woz thinkin!

  • Lol,it's the most beautiful...thing...I've ever seen in my whole life! XD XD XD

  • im sorry but it looks really unprofessional...

the lines are so noticable... i know i couldnt do better heck i burn the cake lol but i mean definetly not how i would want my cake done

    hollyy

  • haha nevermind... i guess your supposed to see those lines

sorry my bad didnt read the title

  • I know why not just make it easier for her self and make it look better and cover it all lol

  • omfg this is probably the worst way to do it its soo ugly! just wrap the whole frekin fondant around it

  • it's acutally REALLY easy to cover the whole cake in one go. And it looks WAY better.

  • its called a fondant smoother... not a paddle...lmfao

  • this wasnt cool...

I didnt find that cake appealing in any way at all.

  • you suck!!

  • I don't understand the concept behind decorating a box and calling it a cake unless your going to give it to someone as a gag gift. I beleive it would have been more interesting to demonstrate how to cut our a large peice of foam and icing it with real cake icing.

  • this is the worst its not even parallel if someone served me this cake i would knock it of the table.

  • watch the rest of the videos.. or you can see the last one she did. i personally think the cake is tacky buuuut it does come out even and smooth... just a tip

  • EXPERT VILLAGE sucksss ..they are taking over utube..n theres no way to block their videos from showing in search results...this video is so unprofessional

  • expert village's so called experts, never know what they are doing.

  • i'm currently learning how to decorate a cake and to me, this is the wrong approach to doing it...how can she be an expert? when ive done better jobs with it all being laid over in one go...dumb ass bitch...thick as fuck

  • Tinkerboo - never condone this as an efficient way for a beginner to decimate (sorry, decorate)a cake. A beginner easily absorbs the correct way of doing things if shown - not being corrupted by this. If she's an Expert, then I'd hate to see someone who wasn't. can't bear to watch it any more.

  • This is the worse way to cover a cake with fondant. I suggest the author of this video go back to school for some refresher classes. This cake isnt worthy of a BBQ cake. Please dont do any more videos until you've refreshed your fondant class. This is a poor demonstartion!

  • wow she really has no clue

  • WOW THAT WAS REALLY BAD IM SOO SORRY TRY SOMETHING ELSE MAYBE? YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR REALLY DOING. EXPERT VILLAGE? HA DONT LIE TO ME. I CAN SEE IT YOUR EYES YOU DONT KNOW WTF YOU ARE DOING!lol

  • 1. she calls that blending into the sides?

    2. she cut it an inch too small instead of an inch too big. She has no idea wtf shes doing.

  • why noot cover the whole thing??!?!!?!?!

  • hay u dont no how to poot icing on a cack u

roit out really big then pooy it on a cake and

then cut the ege on it so dont mack videos if u dont no how to proply mach it k.m

  • okay thats not how to put fondant on a cake

  • this is appalling! badly planned. Hilarious when she gets to the bit she has to stretch! words pigs and ears spring to mind. in england we've been using fondant for years and this example is atrocious. You'd think that if you had decided to go worldwide - you'd know how to do it professionally. Hope to hell the person who bought the cake doesnt see how mauled and molested it was on its journey to becoming a gift box. doesnt matter if the end result looks good - we know whats underneath!!

  • dont comment in the "ugly" of the cake YET! it is not finished, watch the next videos and you will know why she left those rough ends, it is covered with fondandt lazo, and other things, this is just the "background" layer.

  • .......... you people are so lazy!! 1 minute vids?! people cant learn in 1 minutes fken satrt being unlazy and make long vids!

  • I am 23,999 viewer!!!wow!

  • What the fuck was that? That was a VERY lazy attempt at covering a cake. Why not cover the WHOLE THING??! It would save you the effort you retard.
