Graham, thanks for your videos of this year, good work. I was delighted when I heard Chineese Moon blasting out on the Southsea along side some new music supplied by Jan Kees, brings back fond memories of the Jonas Gavioli.
Verbeeck organs are not made in London any more, however, a Firm of Organ distibutors named Chiappa are still in exsistance in London and still recondition these instruments. The first organ in this video would have been built up in London about 70 + years ago, but the bigger Verbeeck later in the video is new in comparison having been built in the 1980's. Verbeeck Organs are still made and is big business for the owners. They are now made entirely in Belgium.
NO this is not the 61 key Verbeeck that was in Peter Griffiths workshop. This organ used to belong to Tom Tilbury near Dartford Kent...
Must admit Graham, I didnt think it sounded too bad... don't forget that the London firm of Verbeeck used a different keyframe action which slows it down
when i said it needed work, i was refering to an air problem it's got during Forte passages. It is not so noticable on the track i have used, but if i upload the other track i have which is Lambeth Walk, you can hear the organ gasping for air. I am sure it is just a bellows problem, apart from that, you are right, it played ok
Is this the 61 key Verbeeck that one that Peter Griffiths had in his work shop? I'm going to post some my GDSF 2009 organ videos up today or tomorrow. I've got some video of your Leach that I did on saturday when at GDSF this year. Ben
The Southsea organ is NOT a Gavioli. Its a verbeeck organ. Nor was it ever 110key in size.
