  • I can't get my staffy to do this. He won't hold on to anything. If I take a toy while he has it and attempt to lift him up...he'll let go once his front paws leave the floor. Any suggestions?

  • Jaw lock is a myth just determination my pit loves this. (btw this pit looks like it could be mines sister so hmu ( I refer to all related pit-staff bla bla as pits)

  • Shear determination that's all great dog check mine out on my channel

  • it is a myth A staffs jaw is no different to any other dog. the tricvk is they can lift up their nose whilst they bit thus letting them breath and bite at the same time. its all due to breeding. plus they are strong and determined dogs.

  • biiiiiig myth

  • So these dogs can lock their jaws I see... I thought it was a myth!!!

  • @Mrepifany Not locked just a strong willed breed. Remember its not the size of the dog in the fight its the size of the fight in the dog.

  • There is no such thing as lock jaw !!! the dogs jaws lock no more then any other dog!! they just have strong jaws due to it being a strong dog !!!! it is just an urban myth.

  • Lock jaw is a Myth! Locking of the jaw is a defect caused by tendonitis ;)

  • i have one of them, they do not lock onto stuff LOL.

  • its a myth my boi, its juss that they have really strong jaws, added with their strong drive not to let go of something unless it wants to

  • NO dog of ANY breed as locking jaws ( unless it happens to have something like tetnus or something) they just have a strong instincts to hold on, and powerfull jaws, and are very game, but they are still able to let go whenever they like

  • You are correct.

  • yea its just an expression meaning it can lock on and hold at great strength unlike other breeds that may not be able 2

  • yh they do come rfrom bulldog breeds which were bred to hang on to the bull, and were tenacious, and the terriers which were also tenacious, and i would imagine if any dog had somthing it wanted, it is gonna be hard to try and prise there jaws aprt singlehandedly, cuz the muscles in a dogs jaw is strong than the muscles of a human hand. there a vid of yorkies doing protection training and the yorkies were fdoing the bite and hold thing

  • My bullterrier loved to hang from a branch like this, making horrible noises. I got the impression that once she got hold of that piece of wood she could not let go of it. From a distance, it looked scary - as if I had hanged my dog on purpose - and I was even accused of being cruel. Perhaps I was by letting my dog play in this way?... She was a dear!

  • @jola0312 How is it cruel to let your dog play ? Greyhounds want to run, blood hounds want to track, bull terriers want to hang onto things, its how they play, its not cruel, anyone who says it is cruel is a judgemental fool.

  • i would love to get bit by one of them guys

  • its a myth. I read some study by some boffin at Manchester Universty the other day. he said that they basically have VERY powerful grips and refuse to let go. but they do NOT have any kind of "lock" in their jaws.

just damn strong jaws, tis all! :)

  • My bully does the same but with more noise lol

Great video by the way,5 stars!

  • They have strong jaws and neck and a very big mouth so they can breath while biting, thats why they can hold a bite for so long time

  • your thinking of a bulldog right?cause THESE dogs (fighting dogs) dont have a bulldogs nose

  • yer i agree 2 myth:}

  • agree

  • No such thing as a locking jaw. Urban myth. :)
