Okay, so most of you are having the Unable to identify ipsw error...

To fix this, you have to download the 4.0 firmware (located in the description).

Then when you browse for the ipsw choose the 4.0 software.

Ok this is ubercool. To jb 4.0.2 just one more tip here. My problem was that redsn0w won't recognize the 4.0.2 ipsw. No problem though. Just restore the 4.0.2 ipsw to you ipod/iphone, then in redsn0w select the 4.0 firmware. After it's done, you'll have a jailbroken 4.0.2. One word : smooth! Tnx!

and a 2g ipod will have volume buttons on the side, and i BELIEVE the all the 3G models are "MC****" models.
