My partner was attacked with witnesses and the attackers car reg was taken. After telling the police they didn't bother interviewing any witnesses and didn't follow up on the car reg. This was a clear and easy conviction but they did fuck all. Now tell me how can this many police be justified at a demo when crimes against the public are ignored.

The "Blunket speech" was a very short soundbite about using a sledgehammer to crack a nut - no mention of Haw or SOCAP - and the "relevant info", by which you mean a few paragraphs of text on screen, was not at all referenced or backed up by any evidence. You can't just read something on a film somewhere and accept it as fact.

I watched from around 13 mins in and the film seems to me to be very poorly researched and based largely on a few people's opinions and very few (if any) facts.

Other than the countless criminal damage caused to private vehicles & property unrealated to EDO, the mass disruption to transport throughout Brighton and the waste of police resourses required to supervise these morons? dan101uk, No-one is pleased with the level of police turnout - both protesters and observers agreed it was a total overspending of police manhours.

You are right about the disruption caused to Brighton transport, but this video should hopefully highlight the fact that the procession was moving peacefully until it was met by a massive police blockade. It was this heavy-handed police response, which remained for hours, which meant the disruption to transport was so huge.

I was present at the Smash EDO demonstration pictured here, and didn't see any such damage take place. If you know of any official reports that point to such damage, please bring them to my attention. But if it's just hearsay you're relying on, this says more about people's prejudices against protestors than about the event itself.

I'm pretty sure the argus normally cover it, but my comment was mostly based on my experience of the Smash EDO morons that stomp down my road covered in red paint climbing over cars and blowing whistles. one of my neighbours went out to ask them to get off his car and they threw a plastic bottle at him and shouted some crap about baby killers. this is my main gripe with Smash EDO, this ridiculous baby killing nonsence and the amount of unrelated people that get victimised by "protestors"

Well it's not just my opinion. A very large proportion of the population now feel the same way I do. That's not healthy (for the police).

The fact is if I rang 999 I would get a service very much below what I deserve. The police have deliberately "forgotten" that policing is by consent and they are public servants. We pay their salaries. Then they give us a very shitty service. Alas they have no competition so they get away with it.

There are 140,000 cops out there, how can an intelligent person tar them all?If you go to a lot of protests, then of course there will be a bit of a them and us attitude, but they do and deal with more than just protests. Some fantastic, outstanding work has also been done.
