This is a pretty cool gig. The "King Kong" jams later on are especially bitchen thanks to Ponty's sit-in with the band. One bad thing is that the sound balance at this gig is in disfavor of Zappa's guitar. As his rhythm playing was fairly economical already, too often I can't hear a thing he's playing, unless he plays lead.
Bless you, man. Having been a part of this band and not EVER seeing this footage before, I gotta give you big time respect for posting this. Frank is still the only real genius that I've ever known.
Husband accidentally used my YouTube account to post after I showed him the video of the show. He's Eddie (Howard Kaylan). But, Casuallyyours is his spousal unit, not him.
Please let Mr. Kaylan know that someone in beautiful New Jersey digs the work that he did with Mr. Zappa. Great singing! I was born in '68 so I missed all the live fun, but I finally discovered it in the 80's.
Kudos to you and your husband from Norway as well!! I dug some of the Turtles' stuff, but most of all his time with FZ was way out great and really enjoyable to this day. And I have fond memories from about 1980 when I saw Flo And Eddie on Swedish TV - they did a HILARIOUS parody on Pink Floyd's The Wall thing. Wish I could see that again, I laughed so hard I cried in the end!! Lots of love to the both of you!!
Hi from oz,mrs. K! How is the great Howie? Bet he and Mark, Ainslie and all had a ball up there on stage with Frank! Would have LOVED to see the mothers but I don't know if they ever toured australia.
Hey, Diddywahdaddy....that 'Wall' thing was hysterical! I'll tell him you mentioned it. Was that the show with the new U2 on it? And Turnbs, I'll pass your ms along as well. I know HK saw Aynsley a couple of years ago on a plane coming back from the Far East. Aynsley was part of the Phlo and Eddie band after Frank got hurt at the Rainbow Room.
Also, mr.greengenes had posted some awesome footage of the mothers, one of the best was "groupie routine" but unfortunately his account doesn't seem to exist anymore.
Couldn't agree more! Frank was probably THE most underrated and under recognized genius the music industry has ever seen. Because he insisted on doing what HE wanted to do rather than what the industry dictated, many simply dissmissed him. Thank God for many of us that he DID do what he wanted! The world will NEVER see that sort of brilliance again. Rest in peace, Frank.
wow at :12, frank looks EXACTLY like dweezil! or dweezil looks like frank, or....

They really need to bring Flo and Eddie along for the 'Zappa Plays Zappa' tours.

Wish we could see today what Frank Zappa, Mark Volman, Howard Kaylan,
Ian Underwood, Geoege Duke, Ansely Dunbar(Powerful Drummer), Jeff Simmons did back in the 70s. Original stuff.

You know, Zappa's voice really did deepen after he got pushed off stage. Even though he smoked, his voice is a lot higher here.

He have been one of the most great composer of 20th century, and is more popular than all those rock'n'roll cocaïnomen.
He had changed the music history, and didn't need drugs to do it.

Appreciate that. Is HK still performing at all, or any of the mothers for that matter, since Frank's sad passing?
