@operalament действительно, Образцова, как пишет Вишневская, подписала письмо руководству Большого театра (как и многие другие) с требованием убрать Вишневскую из-за ее несоответствия нормам и идеалам советского искусства. сама Образцова утверждает обратное. Между прочим, сейчас у Вишевской в Москве есть своя оперная школа, а у Образцовой только конкурс в Питере. театра у Образцовой, как она сама хотела, нет. и, на мой взгляд, это последствия той давней истории

Sounds to me more like she is the older one here. She certainly does NOT sound like a young girl pleading with her father.

Her voice is fantastic, a bit swoopy and she seems to lose her breath at the end, but otherwise very beautiful. Just not this aria. IMHO.

Wow, this is excellent. I was not expecting this performance to be so good, knowing that Obratsova is one of the most hot-blooded dramatic mezzo sopranos ever.

I think this aria is just for mezzo sopranos and not sopranos. Look at the effort Caballe makes when taking the first octava on her video, the same at 0.25 in Obraztsova's video. Obraztsova does it very smooth.
