A high speed motor + high speed gearset = bad trigger response. I'll bet if you put a high torque motor in there, the trigger response would be phenomenal; and ROF would increase as well.
Thank you for your details introduction with the film. You might like to know Modify has new Nano SMOOTH Modular Gear Set, 2pcs of 8mm ball bearing are inside for each Bevel gear and Spur gear. The mold and the shape of gear was improved, the new gear set will be more durable Thus, even you install the SMOOTH on your G&P 6mm gearbox, you still could have a 8mm ball bearing performance.
Did you have trouble with the gears moving on the bar the gears set in and thereforee making it lean to the right and hits your trigger...mine does that
@ASTKilo23 Hm, normally only Helical Gears are quiet. The Design of the normal Gears makes them noisy, no matter how they are shimmed. But the bad thing for Helicals is that you can only use them on Metal bushings, not on bearings
You might like to know Modify has released SMOOTH 8mm Ver.2/Ver.3, Torque 21.6:1, SMOOTH 8mm Ver.2/Ver.3, NanoTorque 22.2:1 and SMOOTH 8mm Ver.2/Ver.3, Speed 16.32:1 recently.
its hard to describe the sound helical gears when properly shimmed. ide say they have about the same amount of sound coming from them, but the helical gears will be a lower frequency sound.
assuming your talking about a stock a&k m249, ide suggust at least getting a new nozzle, cylinder head, hop up bucking, bearing spring guide, bearing piston head, and a higher speed motor. migh t also want to get a new piston seeing as the a&k piston arent that hot.
yea i have the a&k i'll replace the cylinder hear and piston head with aluminum ones for that extra pow thanks for the tips btw do regular v2 gears work for it?
the short stroke mod (removal of 4 teeth) gave me about the same rate of fire, but i sifinificantly reduced the fps because the spring wasnt being pulled back as far. with these gear, i get the increased rate of fire, a standard fps, and i dont have to shim the damn things.

lol those sound terrible...and your motor blows.

Is that motor the stock CA motor? I wonder how that setup would sound with an EG1000....

sounds like ur battery wasnt that charged up and ur motor hight sounded a bit high

@hockysk8r123 They have now made 8mm gear sets so ya it will

tacticalairsoft65 1 year ago
@tacticalairsoft65 i did have some trouble with that, yes. the trick is finding a compatible gearbox shell.
ASTKilo23 1 year ago
no gear nois???
ReinhardSchuster 1 year ago
@ReinhardSchuster because the gears are pre-shimmed, there is little to no gear noise.

Too...many...Tamiya plugs! My one....weakness!

Get some dean plugs and a high mah battery and your set.
nonamre 1 year ago
@ASTKilo23 but if i buy the set that is not 1 piece it will fit 8mm right?
bullmeatt 1 year ago
@bullmeatt no, it will not fit in a 8mm gearbox shell. modify does not make an 8mm version. the largest they make is a 7mm variant.
ASTKilo23 1 year ago
@ASTKilo23 the ones that arent 1 piece though will fit any bushings thats what i was asking
bullmeatt 1 year ago
@bullmeatt again, they will not fit. the bushings are attached to the assembly and are specially designedfor only this unit.
ASTKilo23 1 year ago
@ASTKilo23 oh i think i get it now , so all modify gearsets have special bushings

What about the version that doesnt specify the size of the bushings? Its on Evike if you want to know the one im talking about
crazyaznpower12 1 year ago
the set will say either 6mm or 7mm on the website. 7mm costs a bit more.
ASTKilo23 1 year ago
Do these gears fit 8mm ball bearings?
crazyaznpower12 1 year ago
I forgot, how are your gears holding up? Please keep us updated, your the only one I know of using these that have posted.
edna0121 2 years ago
Thanks for posting this. I seriously love the idea of not shimming, but noise reduction in the gear dept. is my goal. Thanks again for the info.
edna0121 2 years ago
awsome does it come in standard ratio??
giansantiago 2 years ago
these gears only come in tourque up and high speed.
ASTKilo23 2 years ago
oh ok so is it better than helical gears in terms of quietness?
giansantiago 2 years ago
its hard to describe the sound helical gears when properly shimmed. ide say they have about the same amount of sound coming from them, but the helical gears will be a lower frequency sound.
ASTKilo23 2 years ago
i see thanks and i wanna ask for some advice on upping the rof on my m249 like about 1000rpm? what do i need aside high speed gears??
giansantiago 2 years ago
assuming your talking about a stock a&k m249, ide suggust at least getting a new nozzle, cylinder head, hop up bucking, bearing spring guide, bearing piston head, and a higher speed motor. migh t also want to get a new piston seeing as the a&k piston arent that hot.

yea i have the a&k i'll replace the cylinder hear and piston head with aluminum ones for that extra pow thanks for the tips btw do regular v2 gears work for it?
giansantiago 2 years ago
v2 gears work fine.
ASTKilo23 2 years ago
awsome thanks btw whats the advantage on using piston head and spring guide with bearings?
giansantiago 2 years ago
it will conpress the spring a bit more than usual and it will prevent spring binding.
ASTKilo23 2 years ago
so is that the same rate of fire with or without the short stroke mod you had before?
crunchbar777 2 years ago
the short stroke mod (removal of 4 teeth) gave me about the same rate of fire, but i sifinificantly reduced the fps because the spring wasnt being pulled back as far. with these gear, i get the increased rate of fire, a standard fps, and i dont have to shim the damn things.
ASTKilo23 2 years ago
cool. now you do have one kick ass gun! not that it wasnt before.
crunchbar777 2 years ago
...and im still continuing to improve it...muhahaha
ASTKilo23 2 years ago
I should do the same for my CYMA AK74 just in case..all I need to do is find out the size.
Shinakumiatsu 2 years ago
a cyma ak47 should take the 6mm version, but ide get the high tourque version instead unless your looking for a high speed set up.
ASTKilo23 2 years ago
I'd have to get a new motor too then :)
Either way, it would be a rather useful upgrade.
Shinakumiatsu 2 years ago
I always wondered about those gears well now i know, i might have to pick up a set
