I have this dvd, I like the fact that people were walking around and not texting, the cars in the parking lot have changed, but the magic is still there but the prices have skyrocketed I always like disneyland even as an adult because when I'm there I become a kid all over again even with my own.
I like the camera panning the huge parking lot full of the old gas guzzling sleds of yesteryear. As a kid I would walk close to the cars and twang the parking feelers that many automobile owners put on their cars.
ya know the first thing i noticed was the baskets xD
OMG THERE BACK THE BASKETS 8D
(fyi if no one knows disneyland had baskets that went through the matterhorn, disney got rid of them in the late 90s cause people were throwing things off of them)
wow, back then they would actually let you stay in for the guest stars and the after dark special occassion. nowadays they do this thing called "mickeys trick or treat" and charge you an extra 50 bucks if you wanna stay,... LOL
@WIZZINGSHIRE I agree. It's all about money and not family. They need to bring back the star studded specials that were written well and showcased the new developments in the parks and movies.
@lame2you u r so right.even though walt disney wasnt around for the disney channel,i cant stand it today.its nothing disney.its more nickelodean then DISNEY.they could at least have vault disney.good lawd!!
Louis Armstrong was awesome in this episode! Loves me some Satchmo! Last time I was at Disneyland, I rode the Mark Twain and stood where he performed.
Anytime anyone asks, "Where would you go if you had a time machine?" My answer would always be SoCal between '55 & '66, if only for the remote chance to meet Walt before he died. I will always regret that I never had a chance to meet him.
i wish that disney would put on dvd all there stuff like this and special shows and even the berry merr xmas etc shows from yesteryear and now that would b so cool to have
We first see the Monorail pulling into the Disneyland Hotel station, and the following shot of the Monorail passengers boarding has Skyway buckets in the background! That sho was from the Tomorrowland Station!
It's totally worth getting the annual pass I only pay 8.75 a month and at least go twice a month :D so I been to Disneyland at least 12 times this year alone haha
Believe it or not, there are people who arrive at the park at $12, pay full admission to get in, stay just 5 hours and go back home! My friend and her family would do that. They never even went on rides. They literally walk around for 5 hours and go back home. <:[
My family and I are just like that. But when I went for my birthday with a friend, we had to leave early because she had to be home by 10:00. She and her mom usually leave the park at 5:00. I was pissed cuz I always leave at closing.
Dear thatsokaite, Thanks for you response. . I checked the cars and you are right they just look like parked cars, however the correct time on the video is not 0:40 but 0:46, I made a mistake. . At this later time is a very long car -a limo, but, after thinking it is not a limousine but a bus type of car. . All those doors -it has to be like a bus in side; I remember riding some similar vehicle in California. Not Walts .. Had you been to this Disneyland? Cheers. from, del-boy.
this is the video from walt Disneys treasues i have both dvds one i s the begiing of disneyland the other is how they made the magic kingdom long live disneyland i want to be a disneyland imagineer when i grow up
This is a great trip back. Almost all the attractions in this clip are gone, the rest have been "updated"....bring back the old disney magic. This clip is better than paying 10 bucks to park and 70 to get in!!!
I think we would have a different approach on the Disney's movies these days if he would be still alive (even if he would be about 80 years by now I think) I wish we still had the buildings that was part of Disneyland Hotel it would fit right in with the other Disney Hotels that are in WDW in FL. Because the way the monorail had the station that was for the Hotel not like today were the station doesn't even seem to be part of it any more just Downtown Disney.
i've never seen all the lights switch on so suddenly like that...im assuming they just do it gradually now? its like you never even noticed the lights have been turned on nowadays...
this is the old disneyland and disneyland in california is way better than wdw because walt disney made this one not wdw the governer made wdw haha disneyland in california this one is the old time now its different
Wrong. This is most definately Disneyland in California. The park in Florida has a completely different castle... it also has no Matterhorn bobsled ride... and WDW didn't even open until 1971 (Nine years after this movie was made).
Man I love Disneyland today, but I would have loved to visit in those days...my dad remembers visiting around that time when he was young...oh and to meet Walt would have been awesome...
i hear ya. my dad was around during the opening of Disneyland and likes the way it was back then better than it is now. but that's just cuz he was there when it first opened. personally, either way, i luv Disneyland, but of course, i prefer the Disneyland today. (better technology and nighttime entertainment)
what the hell is your problem? if you think this is so crappy, then why the hell are you here? you dont' have to like this, but that doesn't mean you should go and have to ruin the entertainment for other people!
i'd luv to have Walt's autograph! Walt Disney inspired my creativity ^^ i'll have to admit, i probably would've walked off with Walt Disney's popcorn too (i get distracted easily) lol
he was! Walt Disney actually imagined all of this. You don't meet a man like that every day ^^ If he were here today, he'd be proud at how far the park has come. I even have his Disneyland dedication speech hanging up on my bedroom wall ^^ (i dunno if he'd be proud about the movie business though, lol)
OMG it feels like I was just there yesterday. I went to Disneyland in Cali twice and Walt Disney World in Floida once. I perferred the one in Cali. Maybe because I went as a child and Fla I went as an adult. My favorite ride was the submarine.
I have the entire special, but the quality wasn't that good. That give a feel of Disneyland where they had this nighttime feel to it. I taped it right off of Disney Channel when it was Vault Disney many years ago.
I didn't know there was a nightlife at Disneyland.
