  • What is being scraped off at 2:48 ?

  • @MrJon307 It is an epidural hemorrhage. Often associated with the rupture of a. meningia media of temporal side of your brain. It simply just a big blood cloth building up pressure on top of the dura, which gives the patients his neurological symptoms. If not treated it can very well end up being fatal and you need to act fast. Regards, a Danish medicine student.

  • and that is how grape jelly is made =D

  • From the few of these I have seen it looks like it was done kind of sloppy. Not much care was put into this.

  • @windowslive300 its brazil lol

  • 0.0

  • Mmmm grape jelly on toast anyone? :D

  • the surgeon here had some pit falls i guess:

1- do not coagulate the scalp with a monopolar (it damage the hair follicles and produce a bad scar

2- the localizatioin was not perfect...

3 there was no need to elevate the temporalis muscle it would be better if he elevated instead a myosseus flap preserving the vascularity and nervous supply of the temporalis and the bld supply to the bone flap, + it will result in better reconstruction latter

4- before the elevation of hitch stiches try gel foam

  • @MrChila86 that's why you get yourself a good neurosurgeon. It takes careful precision to not pierce the brain membrane

  • its so amazing how far medicine has come

  • Wow!!! Imagine if you would to wake up in the middle of this

  • youtube did it again.

  • Esse paciente fica sequelado né? Nossa...

  • Just need some toast with that jelly. :)

  • Great video!! Looks too aggressive with the drilling but yea that was a very large hematoma on top of the brain. Poor patient give props to the doc man :)

  • brainnnn i eat brainnnn (horror movie)

  • I had that exact same surgery following a car accident in 2002. It is the first time i decide to search it on youtube. It's amazing i didn't know that they had to retreive a large part of the skull. I thought it was just drilling and sucking the blood. I'm lucky I have no sequels at all except that big question mark scar from the forehead to the back of the ear. Thanks for the vid, and thanks Dr. Bilocq, from Trois-Rivières in Québec.

  • Its Penutbutter JELLY time!

  • what is all the dark red stuff at 2:36? i'm surprised that his skull had room for it.

  • @benjie414 i think it's blood:D or i don't know hh,awesome

  • @benjie414 It's the haematoma. Nothing more than spilled blood. I think it's the middle meningeal artery that ruptured (but correct me if I'm wrong) - anyways, it is an artery above the 3 protecive brain layers (Above the dura mater, 'epidural' - meaning 'above the dura'), and it is the very cause of the problem this patiënt had.

  • im a gurl, im 12, this is friggen amazing! its this guy whos saves people! this is a hero!

  • Why do I watch this?

  • @The7thSeason thank God for that!!! i know why i watch this and the reason is not good at all trust me...

  • @The7thSeason , dont watch this if you are not a health care professional belonging to Trauma management. I am watching this to learn about this procedure because after learning this i would be able to perform this maneuver quite confidently and save many lives.

  • they drill thru the skull? wont it puncture the brain? if they puncture the brain even a small puncture, would the patient die on the spot? this is awsome!!!!!

  • nice hematoma......uhhh

  • how is this allowed on youtube but boobs arent...this is basically saw:in real life

  • @GinGeeK Because this is shown in an educational and medical context while most videos with nudity in them are erotic.

  • @georgebaggy what difference does it make why someone watches a video...this is still a video if someone getting their skull removed...

  • @GinGeeK Like I already said, the difference is found in the context of the video. Somebody getting a portion of their skull removed during a medical operation to save their life is different than somebody's skull shattering in an accident or act of violence. Same with nudity, watching a woman get a breast exam in order to learn how to do it is different than watching a woman masturbate or get railed from behind by some big black guy

  • @GinGeeK um, it's medical?

  • @GinGeeK this vid is in a medical purpose. i served as sergeant in the army as a paramedic. actually i work in a hospital as a care assistant and i am happy to see and marvel how my fellows in the OR work. if you don't have the stomach to watch, don't watch...

  • yummy

  • I feel terrible for him... The amount of blood he lost FROM HIS BRAIN has to be a sign of severe brain damage?

  • @NeverisAwesome all this bld is extra dural: i.e outside all the 3 membranes covering the brain.. it's actually not damaged at all

  • @NeverisAwesome It is probably from the arteria meningea media, an artery above the three protective layers above the brain. The patient might even have recovered without overt neurological symptoms.

  • This is some scary stuff.... hope that patient had a full recovery...

  • never knew the blood would look like blackberry jelly. That was awesome.

  • is he ok?

    now?

  • Many surgeons confound the terms decompressive craniectomy and surgical decompression because an extra-axial bleeding. I agree it would be enough to fit the flap back in order to avoid true DC complications in this case. Regards.....

  • big bleeder at 3:30 0_0

  • amazing,thanks for the post.

  • So what were the indications to perform the craniectomy? Why didn't you just put the flap back?

  • I assume the dark jelly was the cerebral bleed?
