@MEGAFUCKNDETH I would do 150w HQI 12K or 14K Maybe 250w if your tank is deep, with T5's and a LED Moon light.
LED's as your main light will work but for the money i think a tank looks better when lit by MH. With that said if you dont already have a chiller and dont plan on buying one spend the extra cash on the LED's and you wont have the heat build up from the MH, light. I have a 135Gal reef and its 72x18x24 so at 2' deep i need 3, 250w MH, and 2, 6' VHO, and 3 Led moon lights over 1100W...
@SeanJones25SJ I think Led's are great replacements for T5's, VHO's, PC, Standard Florescent lights, but can never replace MH lighting. Led's are great to go over your sump/Ref. Led's put out a really nice spectrum of light and very low power consumption and low heat output but over the long run MH have proved themselves and Led's just aren't there yet. IMHO.....
@waqas42 Yea its yellow but TBH you will get far better growth and color with them than you will if you just run 10k/actinic. The broader the spectrum of lighting you can get the better ime. I used to run 10k/actinic LED's only and growth was good but with the addition of some 6700k and red lights the colors and growth of everything in the tank really took off.
@waqas42 10000k is still very white with a little yellow i like the 12000k - 15000k personally nice crisp blue and still get the growth 20000k is nice but i notice growth really slow down while color seems to just go crazy and amazing which is why i kinda have settled with the 15000k
i'm very interested on using this on my tank.. but do they have these for 30gallon rectangular tank? i really want to change my aquarium lighting to save energy. also i will need to know how to install them (hopefully its not hanging like more similar to a spider web).
Lighting a 6 foot Reek tank comprised of SPS corals will run you 1100-1700 dollars regardless of lighting system becuase its gonna be Metal halides or LEDS mostly anyway. Otherwise dont keep SPS if the price is a problem
Hi, very nice tank :) So, according to my calculations your tank is been running with the LED's for 11 months or so, how are the SPS's are doing? Good luck!
are you using stunner strips? or the panorama fixtures, if so how many led strips? I'm thinking of setting up my LPS cube with these

sweet tank, leds are nice but still pricey.

I havent been happy at all with Ecoxotic LEDs. The coral colors after a year all looked lame. Plus, too many of the LED bulbs burned out already.

if i keep a reef tank outside with my plants, rain and birds who may eat the fish, can that affect the tank assuming that the tank isn't covered?

@jxw0587 if you keep a reef tank outside you are bound for disaster

@319PurpleHaze 6000k is going to be very yellow light.......you want to use atleast 10000k to get a bluer look of the MH that i assume ur using
