R&B meets contemporary jazz; classic moment here; song shouldve been a top 10 r&b hit at least. Kashif is the bomb & Kenny is in a class by himself. Fun video.
Wow Kenny g. before he crossed...he was the best then....and loved Kashif back then he was like todays ....never mind he's nothing like today that would be an insult
He was guest of the late Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show years ago and he said the late great Grover Washington was his main influence when it came to playing the saxophone.
I must agree. These two make such a very impressive combination! Double K means double dynamite in my book. I also like your description of "undreamed-of heights." You inspired me when I read that. Honestly.
People who criticize KENNY G should get a life. Is he bad? No, a generation of youth are scared of liking what their parents like. He is not Philip Glass or Pink Floyd but this is a musical concept called 'SERENADE'. Serenade music holds interest for hundreds of years (Mozart, Eine Kleine Nacht Musik) and, sorry folks, Kenny G IS QUALITY. So what if he plays out-of-tune. Balinese musicians play off-tune and musicologists call it 'shimmer'. Kenny G 'shimmers'. I'm a proud owner of 'Gravity'.
Memories of summer '85 visiting my aunt in Chicago, and hearing this song on the radio. I remember this song, 9.9 "All of Me for All of You", Yarbrough and Peoples "Guilty", among others. Great post!!!
And finally i have found the extended version!!!

If you listen to Kenny G's first album you will find most of Kashif's songs done in a Jazz version....

they should have done more together. The addition of Kashif took KennyG. to undreamed-of heights.

I love the extended version of this song. I actually have it on an old Tonemaster tape I made while recording songs from WBMX in Chicago. I was 11.
Now you know that tape is old, dusty, and warped. I would love to hear that version if you have it. Great post.

Does anyone know who that guy is stood by the model right at the end? I recognise him from 80s films and it's driving me mad not knowing who he is!

I wish this was on Kashif's Definitive Collection CD. This was huge in 1985 on the BET and Urban radio. I was living in Wichita, KS at the time.
UltraPOPDJ 4 years ago 3
I know that's right. This song is not on any of Kashif's Greatest Hits CDs.
