The play down the sideline was on Michigan's side of the field where their players DID affect the play because the ball carrier used those players as screens. Nebraska's whole band was on the field? LMAO! There wasn't one band member on it. There is no post game with marching bands, idiot.
I'm pretty sure that doesn't matter. You're only allowed to have 11 men on the field, period. It doesn't matter if they affected the play. And since the game can't end on a defensive penalty, that would've given Michigan one more shot at the end zone.

People really need to read the rules. The play was dead when Nebraska players came on the field. After time has expired, if a player other than one that fumbled it picks it up, the play is dead.

its offsetting penalties. If one team has sideline players on the field, and the other team has even 1 player or a coach on the field, the play is ruled as offsetting because both teams violate the number of players allowed on the field during play. Technically Michigan had players and coaches as well on the field but then got off the field once the play was starting to move down their sidelines. In the end, Nebraska wins.
At least Michigan beat the crap outta them this year :))

Coming from a Husker fan born in Ann Arbor, I would say that this would have been a royal-sick win for Michigan if he made it considering there were crazy fans running all over the field while this guy touched-down.

doesnt matter causer the ref didnt blow the whistle so the play wasnt dead it doesnt matter if players on the field stop playing.and they should have called a penalty on nebraska cause they were the ones on the field not michigan.

@jayfey77 #1 You are pyschotic, I back my claim with all the posts you made 23 hours ago. #2 Some advice, when you tell someone they are wrong, back it up with proof or at least some evidence. #3 YOU are wrong, it was NOT only Nebraska on the field. The correct comment would be, "There were more Nebraska players and coaches that came on to the field. A lot of Michigan coaches came on to the field, just not many of their players. So bottom line, both sides came on to the field. See next post.

@jayfey77 yep, you're right. nebraska's coaching staff clearly sprinted all the way across the field AND changed to match the garb of the michigan staff in 15 seconds (because they must have done it while the camera was zoomed in otherwise we'd have caught those buggers), then turned around (only one of them was facing the sideline, the rest infield)

@jayfey77 Did you notice all the men with dark shirts standing around the 30 yard line? Those were Michigan coaches! There were photographers and press on the field as well when that last tackle was being made. Everyone came out there. I have the game on DVR and they show a different angle. Husker players came out, but also Michigan coaches. Everyone that came on to the field is an idiot, just like yourself.

People really need to read the rules. The play was dead when Nebraska players came on the field. After time has expired, if a player other than one that fumbled it picks it up, the play is dead.

What ppl dont remember was this was a poorly officiated game. The refs ran off the field and never blew the whistle. That should have been a flag and Michigan should have gotten 15 yards and another chance.

If ecker would of look back steve breaston was behind here with no cornhusker in sight um gave the game away. A flag should of been called on that pass interference on the 4th down call. Um missed a field goal, but um gave the game. Away and I went that alamo bowl where we blew it.

its offsetting penalties. If one team has sideline players on the field, and the other team has even 1 player or a coach on the field, the play is ruled as offsetting because both teams violate the number of players allowed on the field during play. Technically Michigan had players and coaches as well on the field but then got off the field once the play was starting to move down their sidelines. In the end, Nebraska wins.
