I want that camera in it's nose. And no, I don't mean I want to buy it. Them little cameras costs several hundred thousand us dollars, so I'd much rather get one for free. Dear Santa...
I know that for fixed wing aircraft to land/take off on an aircraft carrier the ship must be a special direction into the wind... is it a similar situation for landing on smaller vessels with a helicopter?
@Orangebike666 For fixed wing aircrafts, they choose to land with wind coming from the front to slow them down better, i believe. I don't think helicopters need that.
@Gryphon950 No seriously it is part of the system that attaches itself to the ship during pitching deck scenarios. I believe it is called RAST-recovery, assist, securing and traversing (RAST)
@majormajor42 i think its called a tallon well thats what its called on cosastguard helicopter. its basicly a large metal shaft with clamps on the end that lock onto the deck of a ship to prevent the chopper from rolling off the back of the ship
@jasonbadler my guess is if it has weapons it could be used for close air support of ground troops which would reduce helicopter pilots KIA due to the fact that they cost less to produce and dont need someone in the cockpit to fly them. and that means less pilots would die in wartime situations. plus a drone dosent get tired like a pilot does
Thats my great grandpa's ship

@kevinusma: No sir, it would be the same pilot who would be flying the Fire Scout, instead of sending him out on a HUEY to scout around.
