  • this is obsurd. No one will ever throw this way or top 90mph. I would love to help you understand physics and the biomechanics of pitching.

  • @pitchharder95

Go ahead. Start typing. I am being serious.

  • @pronate22 No one will ever throw like this. Not one single person in the Majors throws like this. No one will break 80mph. The arm naturally pronates. Forcing it is crazy. Im a expert in bio mechanics and i get pitchers to 90mph and above all the time without injury. The physics dont line up for anyone who does this to throw 90mph .

  • @pitchharderfor$69.95

So for $69.95 is the only way I can get you to tell me the physics of pitching?

I pitch the way that works for me and that is great that you do what you do. I am honored that you took the time out of your day to analyze the film and tell me that I am crazy for pronating hard. Best of luck. -pronatehard22

  • @pronate22 Sure, cant give it for free. Matter of fact players pay thousands of dollars for this information, with results of 90mph + on their fastball. For this price its a steal. Im giving constructive correction. Not trying to belittle you.

  • Hot guy.

  • Mike Marshall DID NOT pitch like this as a Major Leaguer.

  • @JW8244

    Thank you Mr. Obvious.

  • @pronate22 it's captain obvious you dunce

  • Wow people are such idiot. Mike Marshall pitched like this, won a Cy Young and pitched in over 90 games multiple seasons. So who should I have faith in? A man that is a genius and found the mechanics to never be injured, or some jackasses that act as if they're big time managers?

  • My goodness if you tried this shit on me I'd hit one out that wouldn't land until you have grandchildren. Where in the hell did you learn to play baseball?

  • @Kodiak42Football

Baseball? This is mechanics for throwing in Cricket buddy.

  • @pronate22 If this isnt for baseball the why are u on a pitching rubber, have a glove on ur hand and one of the tags is baseball pitching

  • @Kodiak42Football The Major Leagues.

  • where on earth did u learn to "pitch"

  • @bleore whatever the facts may be, I have provided you Marshallatics with the information any person or coach may have and have yet to receive any concise clear evidence of anything. If your motion is better, then prove it. Tell me something other then less injury. There is less injury in a bubble too, but not everyone is walking around in one.

  • Baseballs pitcher porno?

  • in the beginning of the motion i seriously thought he was about to underhand it....gay.

  • that is by far some of the worst form I have ever seen

  • He's atrophy to much to the left

  • hes about to get destroyed if theres a combacker

  • This is like watching Jessica Alba slowly turn ugly for 10 minutes...

  • ....umm guys... why is a naked dude throwing a baseball in slow motion?...

  • @hellonwheelz22 I`m sure that is an honest question. He has computer sensors attached to his body and if he had clothes on the computer couldn`t read the sensors. Thanks for the question and enjoy the upcoming baseball season, pro and especially amateur.

  • why does he not have a shirt on?? haha

  • As you can tell, these posts are backwards...it starts at the bottom and goes upward. And you say that you're left-handed? That's even more of a reason you should throw the 'norm' way. You are able to hold runners even closer, and if you can "read" (which i'm assuming you have no idea what that means), no one will run on you. On top of that, all you have to do is throw 84-86 and you can play professional baseball. You mean to tell me, you're willing to risk all of that, to play injury free?

  • I can now see that your age and knowledge of the game is not entirely up to par. I will leave you with 2 last points. The first being that when anyone throws a baseball, a football, a piece of trash paper, anything, their arm will naturally pronate. So for you to tell me you gained v-lo based on you pronating is a bunch of hog wash. Secondly, anyone who is anyone in baseball will tell you that you will gain velocity the more you throw, and the more intense you throw.

  • @EndoBirdd

Good job, you understand the concept of specificity of training. I completely agree with the more you throw and intense you will gain velocity.

  • I would like the team name, along with his to cross check your references. Also, when you say that covering first is not a problem, what about when you finish and have to field a BUNT? You do not have enough time when you are falling off the side of the mound. Here is a direct quote from your beloved Dr. MM. "Your SS should be athletic enough to field a bunt that you can't handle." Ok Doc, you're telling me that my SS should have to run in appx. 100 ft. to field a ball my pitcher can't?

  • I still want to know the answers to my questions listed below. I spoke w dr MM at the Lisle white sox/bull academy and asked him my questions and he seemed "baffled". When he pitched in the big leagues he didn't throw how this young man is, he threw the "norm". Yes it prevents getting hurt, I believe it. But if I have the option of playing 5-10 years and getting hurt in proball throwing normally over never getting hurt but throwing 79 mph, it's not worth it. It really isn't. I have seen these

  • @EndoBirdd

I appreciate the question's and I see them as good questions, but I do not know the specifics in times to home or all that. I understand the high speed film makes this motion look awkward or more awkward as I should say. But you must understand I do not pitch exactly like the high speed film in competition. I use a modified set position more like what Jeff Sparks used in the pros when runners are on base only because I prefer it.

  • @EndoBirdd

I currently am teammates with a Marshall pitcher at college who threw today in our scrimmage. Umpires around the state were having a clinic at our field and umpired our scrimmage. The head umpire of the clinic found nothing wrong or against the rules of the drop out motion my team mate uses. It is almost like the motion you see in this high speed film. Right after the meeting on the mound, the runner on first who is our fastest kid on the team stole.........

  • @EndoBirdd

......Our catcher threw the runner out by 2 steps. It helped that the pitcher threw a fastball which I should add he throws in the upper 80's and not 79 mph. This reassured me again today how quick pickoffs or home to first is using this motion. I will also add that I had a ground ball to 1st base today and I covered the bag just fine if you had any doubt or question how I could possibly cover my fielding position.

  • @EndoBirdd

As for sacrificing velocity, I have only gained it since I started to 'PRONATE'. My college teammate last year who also trained under Dr. Marshall just signed with an Independent team and he throws low 90's. I am not trying to brag or put to shame your questions, I am trying be nice and answer them the best way I can because these questions get redundant, I am just a baseball player trying to play the game like anyone else.

  • @EndoBirdd

Like I said before, feel free to come see us play this season or feel free to e-mail my coach. He's the one with the stop watch timing our times to the plates.

  • @ Pronate 22, Ok, now I see several flaws in your analysis of what you consider a good pitcher. A.) You, along w/ every other right handed pitcher in the nation, should know the correct times to be to home plate (You don't) B.) Jeff Sparks implemented just above a slide step (He is the only claimed MLB player of Mike Marshall, yet he was in the minors and had good numbers before he met Dr. Marshall, so he can't claim that he "changed" him.) You say that you have a Indy league buddy...

  • @EndoBirdd Indy league buddy....okay keep going and finish your thought...Also I am left handed.

  • @EndoBirdd Your wrong. Sparks met Marshall at a University in Texas. Before he was in the minors. Learn the facts!!

  • throwin a softball or some shit

  • @davidyorksband07 My son left home when he was 18. Spent 2 yrs. In Fla. and the last 3 in Texas going to school. And he has paid his own way. He has made the Deans list every semester, and made Academic All Heartland Conference last year. That`s what I`m proud of. You just better hope this 57 yr. old truck driver doesn`t find out where you live. I know one of us is going to have a crowbar upside his head. Just ask anyone who knows me. You are a little boy!!!!!

  • @davidyorksband07 @davidyorksband07

Try sitting up more when you sing, it will help the air flow. Use your diaphragm more. Annunciate more clearly. Your tempo is a little off. Pay a little more attention to that.

  • @davidyorksband07

  • @davidyorksband07 And look at it this way, if Mike had gone the traditional route he would probably be a 23 yr. old with a sore arm playing his guitar in the bathroom posting on web sites how great he could have been!!!!!!!!

  • @davidyorksband07 Thanks for your concern about my sons future. I`m impressed that you can analyze Mikes game from 2 videos that are almost 4 yrs. old. He handles his fielding quite adequately, and of course anyone who pitches from the traditional windup is immune from taking a shot off the head from a line drive up the middle. Please take your debate to Dr. Marshall. I`m sure he would appreciate an intelligent conversation with you

  • @davidyorksband07 I never heard Dr. Marshall refer to himself as a radical. I also would like you to have a debate about his coaching methods. Just email him. As I said before, pitch the way you want. In the meantime if you think this pitcher is lousy, just bring your bat to San Antonio and stand in the box.

  • @davidyorksband07 It`s apparent you don`t know who Dr. Mike Marshall is. This pitcher is presently playing BB in college. It would be great to play catch with you. Hope the opportunity avails itself.

  • @davidyorksband07 It`s not my fault that you don`t know that you don`t know. Good luck to you and your GM job.

  • @davidyorksband07 Go ahead and throw like you want. It`s still a free country. Good luck to you, and remember it`s just baseball. We are not trying to offend anybody here and we take no offense from your comments.

  • how hard do you throw? 25?

  • @moellerLOG12 Whats up with the tire and the sledge hammer? Are you trying to win a doll at the carnival?

  • I understand the concepts, but what I would like to know are the times. Are you 1.2/1.3 to the plate w that motion? While you might be quick to get rid of the ball, I see one small flaw, the bunt baseball that is on the 3B line (toughest play a lefty has to make) where any "normal" lefty would most likely have to bare hand it and throw. You have to center it with your body, turn and square up and throw? With the way you finish it's impossible to 'read' the ball off the bat, it's merely reaction.

  • I have my questions still. What do you do about holding runners? With this motion are you able to keep runners close? Are you sub 1.2/1.3? Also what about fielding your position? Pitching might be one thing, but holding runners and fielding your position are equally as important. Please elaborate.

  • @EndoBirdd

As a left hander I must step off the rubber with my left foot. Once it is off I can rotate my shoulders towards first base and throw. Same goes for second. I also can pitch from a modified set position. From this I can pick off like any left hander does. For either motion, I know that I am personally quick with it. My coach times me however I do not know the times. I give plenty of time for my catchers to throw a runner out.

  • @pronate22

My team mate who is a right hander who also uses this motion has more of an advantage picking off to first base. He does not have to twist his shoulders. As for time and exactly how he does I am not positive. Feel free to come watch our games and you can see it live. It is a very quick and efficient pick off. Our first basemen has to be on his toes because he does not lob the ball to first, he throws it very hard and quick.

  • @pronate22

To answer the question about fielding, I personally pitch the ball and read the ball off the bat. If it goes to my left I run to the left, if it goes right, I run to my right and so on.

  • @alex662303 Way to show off your bilingual skills!! Happy New Year to you also!

  • @TheBuckeye131 Thanks for the advice!

  • AWFUL mechanics.. looks like hes never played baseball before... that is an all arm throwing motion... his hips are open from the time he begins his motion.. BAD VIDEO!!! dont listen to this kids.

  • @TheBuckeye131 Whats a latchkey school teacher?

  • @TheBuckeye131 - The hips SHOULD open before you begin your motion. Shoulder/Hip seperation, look it up, Lincecum is a good example.

  • @basebull Check out Dr. Marshalls` QandA files for Dec. 12. (this week) He discusses Tim Lincecums` pitching motion.

  • @basebull you're hips stay closed when you land your front foot then your hips open with the twisting of your torso and drag of your back leg.

  • @ag379305 - I 100% agree.

  • @ag379305 Thanks for your comment. Hope your New Year is a great one. 2 mos. from the start of spring training!

  • shitty

  • This is not pitching!!! He is so off balance!

  • @quepasarick bring your bat and come to San Antonio kid!

  • wow thats fucking trash

  • @damonstaysreal Wow,that`s intelligent

  • doubt you've ever done anything successful with your life

  • There are so many errors...and future TJ surgeries to come if you follow this form of "mechanics."

In order for one to acheive proper mechanics, they must learn and understand the dynamics behind those mechanics... This is trash...and that is NOT in any form or fashion resemble Nolan Ryan's pitching mechanics, nor performance....

    --Rob USMC

  • @Shaded07 Wow, maybe you should have sent this post to the Nats. I bet they would appreciate you showing them the proper mechanics!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2:08 and WHAM!!! u idiot just got rocked right in the bak because ure glove is all the way behind..

  • haha. bad form.

  • this bitch sucks. faggot

  • @calebWaiss So tell us what think of Jackie Robinson being allowed to be in the MLB>

  • Has this dude ever thrown a fuckin baseball before? Or ANY ball, for that matter?

  • are you sure you're not right handed?

  • I understand this in a way, but it looks different. the only problem I have is the way he throws the ball...only because I see some movements that take away from velocity. I have a different version of this in which the only difference from the "traditional" pitching delivery is the rocker step and I have no knee lift. Honestly its the only way I can throw the ball hard.

  • This is hilarious. Why would you waste your time learning to throw like this? There are plenty of major league pitchers with 'traditional' mechanics who have remained healthy for many years. Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Nolan Ryan ....

  • @tim191219

Don't worry I did not waste my time learning this, I learned to throw like this in like a day.

  • ...... this is a joke right? It looks like my grandpa trying to pitch for the first time. I couldnt top out at 65 with this ridiculous motion, let alone throw a strike. Since when did leg kicks become obsolete? Are you practicing to throw a ceremonial first pitch, or are you just on crack? My grandma's pitching motion is more athletic. If you are serious with this i just feel bad, like i picked on a retard or something.

  • @sfgiants20 hey dumbass, he's actually in a better position to protect himself and and field the ball, if you took your head out of your ass you might know that. And who gives a fuck if u guys like his motion, he's not gonna hurt himself, throw's in the 90's and has movement on his pitches you could only dream of. if u dont hav anything intelligent to say dont talk

  • They must have been looking for those simple mechanics in their pitchers at springfield or else they wouldn't have released this stud.

  • This guys still in College. Never did pitch for Springfield. you must have him confused with someone else. Why are you so angry?

  • @td0gg33

Thanks for giving me credit for pitching in Springfield but I think you have me confused with my former roommate. Anyways, thanks for pointing out all my pitching mistakes. I will use your expert advice to help me with changing my motion....hahaha

  • @pronate22 I love that your laughing at this. Watch this video and then we can talk about who should be laughing. How many pitchers in the pros do you see with this ridiculously gross and embarrassing motion? I'm going to guess 0. If you think that the people training you are smarter and better than every manager and pitching coach in major league baseball then there's something much more wrong with you than your motion. love the muffin top tho.

  • @td0gg33

Thanks for the expert advice. I am looking to get a hair cut today, any suggestions?

  • Oops! U also forgot to turn your left foot so that it was inside the rubber. you forgot to point the ball back before bringing your arm forward. you forgot to stride straight towards the catcher and you forgot that you're not supposed to step directly backwards on ur rocker step as it will make it harder to come to a balance point (not that u tried to come to a balance point or anything)

  • Remember, it`s just baseball.

  • U also forgot to come to a balance point. u forgot to land with your foot at a 45 degree angle. u forgot to keeo ur front shoulder closed. u forgot to keep your back straight while striding. u forgot to take a long stride. u forgot to bend your back and you forgot to finish the pitch. other than that, flawless.

  • I think u forgot to lift your leg. and you forgot to practice throwing a baseball before this.

  • Good luck catching a come backer with that motion

  • We appreciate the good luck wishes!

  • @travelinghead

no problem since your not in a fielding position after the pitch just make sure you wear a testicle protector.

  • OK thanks for the information!

  • @bennegook get ur ass to asia while ur at it

  • Comment removed

  • By time he finishes his wind up from set position i would of stolen a base

  • What are you even talking about? He is clearly going from the full wind up here which would mean you are not on base but rather on the bench in the dugout watching the game hoping to eventually get a chance to get on base.

  • this motion is sacrificing a lot for what seems like not much benefit. maybe less strain is put on your arm, means less wear and tear and potentially a longer career, but will that career also be successful?

maybe this Marshall mechanic is the new "finesse pitching" of the 21st century and hopefully I'll be proven wrong that it won't be successful. I just have a hard time buying into it. and if we could come up with other arguments besides "lol well UR not in the majors!" that would be great.

  • why are people using Marhsall's Cy Young bid as justification for pitching like this? i'm not discrediting the prestige of the award, but look at Eric Gagne, Steve Bedrosian, Mark Davis. what have they done since they their wins? Gagne was and still is a joke.

no one's pitching like this because, despite increased movement on your breaking pitches, the fastball stays flat, can't throw changeups. we already have deception with finesse pitchers (Buehrle, Moyer, Wakefield).

  • If that isn't enought then I don't know what you want. As far as your arm is concerned...if it doesn't hurt YOU then it is probably ok for YOU.

Finally, your torso is going backword while your hips are going forward. In my know it all opinion, you should be moving almost entirely toward your target delaying only the shoulder so as to develop spring. Torso muscles are slow. Tendon and ligament rebounds are quick.

    Good luck

  • I checked the comments, and I couldn`t find where anyone even replied to your comment. You must have mistaken the response to the Indonesian softball player as a response to your comment. We try to be respectful to people.

  • You have to be kidding me. I get a response that I am a know nothing knowit all or something like that.

Let me tell you what I know:

Your foot is swinging out instead of to the plate.causing imbalance and over rotation after the release. Your head is turned away from the batter starting before you release (blind throw)and your glove is USELESSLY left BEHIND your head. You going to catch it after it comes out your ear? Need but pads to protect that butt.

  • I get a kick out of the comments about how this pitcher is going to take a pitch in the head. That Dodger pitcher Fukudoma, should have listened to you too. Oh wait, he has good form. It was just a freak accident that almost took his head off. This pitcher has enjoyed great success w this style of pitching. We appreciate the comments, but please understand that you don`t have to pitch this way, and iff you think it is bunk write to Mech. Eng. mag and refute the Marshall article. Apr. 2009

  • left foot way to open, and your arm angle is way to high, your gonna end up with Long Thoracic Nerve Pulsy, and the muscle that holds your rotator cuff in place is gonna be weak

  • Thanks for the comment. We will keep your advice in mind. Good luck to you!

  • Wow, just by watching it looks like thats creating alot of stress on the arm. Thank you good luck to you aswell

  • your arm isnt gonna fall off when your 25 or nothin

  • Thanks for your concern and your comment. Actually, there is less strain on the elbow and the shoulder with this motion than the traditional throwing motion that is taught by the majority of baseball coaches in the world. Good luck to you!

  • Im gonna go out on a limb here and guess that this guy isnt naturaly left handed. If he is then he needs to get a new hobby because this is painfull to watch., The only explination that I can gather is that he's a righty not a lefty. And if this is your idea of a drill then try again cause it's bad. And put some damn cloths on are you kidding me?

  • Thanks for the comment. Good luck to you!

  • Well it looks like you fell out of the tree! This isn`t a hobby. This pitcher has devoted his life the last 5 years perfecting this motion. I think he will be the first to admit he hasn`t reached perfection, but he is pitching at the college level. As far as your comment about putting on some clothes, do you realize that he is being filmed by a high speed camera, and has computer sensors attached to his body analyzing his movements? Thanks for your comments, and good luck to you!

  • @cneale31

Do you not realize that this high speed film was taken at Glenn S. Fleisig's (Ph.D.) ASMI research center? It is kinda a requirement to pitch in sliders to attach the reflectors directly to the body to gather the data. Anyways, I am left handed. And please humor me, post a video of your idea of a 'good' drill, wait go down to ASMI and high speed film it also. I can't wait to criticize you in sliding shorts also.

  • wow thats ugly ha

  • I see you must be quite the expert in softball. (I am assuming that is you in your video)

In other words why don't you stick to your girly sport while I continue to stick to mine.

  • Does he throw fast? Does he throw strikes? Pitching like that he is going to hurt himself or get killed because his glove is on the wrong side of his head at the finish. Good luck. And those are only the obvious problems.

  • Comment removed

  • this must be a joke

  • Being able to throw a screwball, an 11 to 5 curve ball or a 12 to 6 curve ball or a 1 to 7 curve ball, a slider, sinker, cut fastaball that moves in or out with these mechanics while competing at the college level...yes you are correct this must be one big joke that you just fell for because you watched this video.

  • is this some kind of joke...i guess these are good mechanics if your a 4 year old girl who has down syndrome

  • Grab your bat and head to San Antonio kid. Show us what you got!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm just not seeing it. When I se this video I see a ton of stress on the pitcher's throwing shoulder. from :48-:50 it looks like his shoulder is going to rip out of his socket!

  • Wait nvm it's a special delivery. Dang you get good movement with that...

  • Holy fuck those are some of the worst mechanics I've seen in my life

  • and since when is that a baseball uniform?

  • who watches swimming? and that would be like if a swimmer was in the pool wearing a suit put on some clothes and learn how to throw.

  • i stopped watching this after 10 seconds i started feeling gay watching a dude in nothing but compression shorts moving in slo-mo

  • So how do you feel when you see Michael Phelps in his spandex getting out of the pool all wet? Maybe you should stop watching swimming also.

  • does he have to not wear a shirt!??!?!

    i mean come on really...

  • i think that is how u throw a certain kind of curveball that doesnt hurt ur arm

  • this guy is so funny

  • lol this has to be a joke

  • Reading these comments reminds me of what it must have been like when trying to convince people the world was round.

    No really, it is.

Do your homework before typing things that make you appear to know nothing of the sport to the entire world.

  • its funny looking because he doesnt turn on his pivet. he kinda just comes forward. im not tryna make fun of him but this is very unorthodox or just plain bad.

  • this guys looks an idiot. wtf

  • ayoo wtf is dat...is dat even pitching mechanics

  • very bad pitching merchanicw

  • this technology is wasted-I'm thinking pamela anderson naked jumping on a trampoline with these cameras.she is a bit old but still..

  • Another appearance for Joe Williams (fastbal95) and another show of why Marshall mechanics DON'T WORK!

    May 11 vs. Ark: 1IP, 2ER, 2H, 2BB, 1HBP.

ERA still at an abysmal 18.00 (team worst). Joe Williams and the Marshall mechanics are the same--GARBAGE!

I give him another week (tops) before he's released. He can't throw strikes (largely because the Marshall mechanics are so flawed and difficult to repeat consistently. Even when he gets it over, he gets ROCKED.

  • He's in Double A ball getting "rocked" more than probably you can say about your baseball career. Or am I wrong? I'm just asking. Sweet drums by the way. We should get rocked out sometime.

  • theres nothing wrong with his release point but his mechanics are scewed

  • This kid is terrible... You look like my 12 year old sister trying to throw a baseball. Your arm action sucks, your follow through sucks, and you made a complete ass out of yourself in those sliders. Haha! I don't think you'll be getting drafted anytime soon.

  • Rock On!!!!!!

  • he looked like an idiot with that kind of release point. like he threw it up to the ceiling.

  • what ??????????

  • wtf is this?

  • Comment removed

  • Lmao This is terrible.

    Worst mechanics I've EVER seen.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not gonna lie, this was TIGHT!!!!!

  • My son and I are evaluating this. Might go for a lesson with one of Dr Marshall's followers.

I never played pro ball either but if they can take 2 guys from INDIA and make them pitchers from some reality show then anything is possible.

  • Who are you thinking about getting a lesson from?

  • I have contacted Brian Bowness in SC.
