Movies or stories like this have always bothered me. Stories or traditions that basically say "you're going to hell if you don't follow these rules" making Jesus seem very shallow. The thing about it is that it was a test to see if people would listen. I've been this way since I was little like if something seemed like it was putting him down in any way it made me feel sad. If someone left him I always told him that I never would do that to him no matter what ...and that was a childhood promise.

Hm...I just finished the book. I'm planning on getting all my gfs together to watch the movie. What I find interesting is that my mom (seen the movie, never read the book) read the back and kept asking , "Has the Irish boyfriend showed up yet?" and it turns out that in the book, they just have a ort of fling, not an actual relationship, as far as I know...Good book. Hated the scene when M. Piggy Preits goes nuts on the chocolaterie....

I loved the movie and of course the sexy Johnny Depp but what I want to comment on and to find out about is the Mayor. I think that toward the end, he did a magnificent job. He was sooo very believable in the scene where he asked God for help and also, I loved the transformation part where he was in the window of the chocolat shop. I'd like to find out his whereabouts and what he is doing, and of course his name. I didn't see a listing of the cast.

How does the film differ? They stay at the end, the wind stops and they stay! And Roux comes bak 2 live with them and Pantaloufe leaves!! Oh and instead of the reverand being the bad guy the mayor is . But the best bits r still there (like the bit in the window ) and the plot is the same plus Jonney depp makes a brilliant Roux !
