It took me 10 bloody years to beat this level. It tortured me as a child, and then I came back as an adult with an emulator. Getting that one far away dragon at 2:00 , i didn't even figure out the proper way. I just jumped off the main ramp next to the secondary ramp that you used and made a hard left, and caught the whirlwind at the island. derp

@ourangirl1992 That's the intro theme for the first Spyro the Dragon game... this one. You never hear it again anywhere else... expect in some random movie that has a modified version of it but that's besides the point.

This game feels mainly like a tech demo due to the straight-forward level progression. It introduced a different method for sky backgrounds called a skysphere, replacing the skybox. However, the skysphere backgrounds are rehashed in Spyro 2 and 3 with subtle tweaks. The way the portals show different skyspheres within any other level is also a key feature. Everything else (pre-rendered lightmaps, animations, level of detail affected by distance, etc.) are somehwhat under it.

this is my favorite level :)

for the long jump at 1:50, i just go off the first ramp (at 1:32) take a sharp right and run up the one other ramp. its kinda hard but really quick if you've done it before. also, if you think you arent gonna make it to the island, head for the whirlwind!

I had to use a 'gain 99 lives' cheat first. I got the dragon on my 58th. o.o;;; But I got stuck and this walkthrough provided a look at what I was missing in what I was doing. Turns out I was missing the last little bit; you have to go round in a circle and then get high enough to glide. Thanks for this! :D

this level was one of the hardest in my opinion. i've been trying to get that one dragon since 98. now my disc wont read on my ps2. anyone know how to clean a ps1 disc?

I take my discs to Hollywood Video and they clean them for free. If you have one in your area see if they will do that for you.

Good luck with finding any Hollywood Video stores since all of the ones in my area went out of business. Probably because of Netflix's service. Instead, try searching for a product that will clean a PS1 disc somewhere like eBay. Just be careful not to get scammed.

You can find loads of songs from video games can be sometimes easily ripped from the disc. If you want the shortcut for an MP3, go to galbadia hotel. Google it.

to get to the green thief, there is a much easier way. once you jump off the first ramp, you can make a 270 degree turn to the right and be on the other track that gets you to the thief. it may seem confusing but its easy

Easy. You can hold down the X button to jump higher so that's what I'm doing when jumping off the ramps. You better not let your fingers slip off the controller if you are using one.

Listen to the tips the dragons give you. They mention something about how to boost your distance when leaving a ramp.
