Incorrect! Holdren said the consequences of geo-engineering are not known. It has not been done before. Contrast that to the vast historical record and new data describing climate that already exists.

Keeping geo-engineering option on the table by Holdren should give you a clue as to how serious a problem he considers manmade climate change. There are a lot of other top tier scientists that have the same view.

No, you're wrong. Although mitigation of greenhouse gases will prevent more gases from going into the atmosphere, geo-engineering will attempt to physically remove either the gases or reduce the amount of sun hitting the atmosphere. It is not a natural reduction of CO2 over time, which is what reducing the carbon footprint is.

He was referring to how they do not understand the global climate system well enough to predict the consequences of any man made geoengineering influences on it. Thus, he admits that they can not predict global climate conditions that may result from man made influences, like greenhouse gas release. Removing or adding greenhouse gases are a geoengineering process as well. Currently it is hypothesized that we are unintentionally geoengineering the system by addig greenhouse gases.

@BrainDeadRepublican Brain dead is right. While we don't understand enough to try new methods of geoengineering, we know adding CO2 at the rate we are has dangerous effects. We also know the positive effects of lowering CO2.

Why don't Republicans believe in personal responsibility? Why do you believe you can dump as much into the atmosphere as you like without paying for the damage? Whatever the cost it must be paid or don't do it. That's what cap and trade or carbon taxes enforce.
