  • In a later episode Boggis mentions both World Wars, so it must be late forties, early fifties.

  • In episode 2 part 1 Boggis mentions the fish is over 100 years old. The children are from the time of Charles II who died 1685, so if this is set in the 1930's the fish would be roughly 250 years old. Something went wrong with the script somewhere.

  • Even better to come across this production having read the book 60 years ago!! I can recommend 'A Traveller in Time' be Alison Uttley too, also please watch From Time to Time.

  • I am so confused about the times. The children of green knowe are all dressed up for the 1600s and yet it is meant to be 100 years ago and in the present times it looks about the 1930s or 40s something. Had I watched this as a child it would this confusion would drive me mad.

  • @TheThreeWeavers The children are from the time of Cromwell, so your instincts are pretty well correct. (Why do you think it's supposed to be only 100 years ago?) And the present time is set in the 30s or 40s. No need to be confused!

  • @jteethy

Mainly because it would have had to be a hundreds years or so if Granny's grandmother was to be alive, instead of a gap of about 400 years which would make it impossible for them to be so closely related. Also, I was sure '100 years' was mentioned somewhere, though I may be wrong.

  • This is cool, just bought the book, I loved this program. (I'm 34!)

  • Like wise! the whole series was so magical. Its amazing to see it all again at 32!!!

  • Thank you so much. I keep checking each day for more parts. I am so enjoying seeing this all again. so lovely :-)
