You're right. Parents of children with ASD today are taught to think of them as simple "traits", not deficits. That's the first step in finding ways to use them in positive ways. It just takes some planning.
So it's not obsession, it's focus. It's not repetitiveness, it's perseverance. That kind of thing. It seems to be effective to make an inventory of your traits and find effective ways to apply them in daily life. Cheers!
