I just bought the same bike. 06 fz6 in that same color. I love the thing. Its also my first bike, and i hit 130 with it first day out on the road lol. I think it might take a while before i get bored with this, the power is just always there I love the guage cluster it has on it too
@SaGalv Thanks for posting. I just hit 9000 miles on mine and have been meaning to post a follow--up review. Congrats on the new ride, I know you'll love it! Have fun out there and stay safe.
I tried about 25 different bikes when I was looking .. once I rode an FZ6 my search was instantly over.....I absolutely love my FZ6.. only mod I have done to mine is the dual headlight mod.. the extra wire is already on the headlight switch.. you just have to run it to the empty socket on the plug for the right headlight.
@toyota4x4canadaguy That's actually a really good idea. I end up riding around with my brights on half the time to make sure I'm visible in traffic. I'm not really sure what the deal is with the one headlight thing, but I would love to see a how-to if you feel like making one!
@DeniskaFromRussia The world is a complicated place my friend, and I'm sure there are quite a few more riding days in the year here in Southern California than Mother Russia, so it's a little more practical purchase. Good luck friend
hey I am 136lb guy, 5'9 inches.. I haven't owned a bike before ,but I am a quick learner, and I love yamaha bikes..do you think this bike is good for me?..I know this is 600cc..but I think..yamaha doesn't make any sportbikes with less power..
p/s I understand the risk of high speeds..and I won't go speeding up until I m sure that I am experienced enough.. so don't start saying I'll kill myself..;p
@jaggaaz I do recommend this bike, it was my first as well. Should be plenty of power for a guy your size. Be aware that with a bike, slow does not always equal safe. My experience is that putzing around in traffic trying to "act like a car" is not the way to go -- you do not have the visibility of a car. So having enough power to by pass traffic knots is important if you are going to be spending any amount of time on the highway. Good luck and ride safe
i love this bike! im so happy i own one (05) the power is there when u need it and people still turn and look to see what it is when i come screaming by them. It may not be as sporty as the r6 but damn, get up there in rpm's and this bike flys!
@mifan93 Agreed, the single headlight thing does annoy me as well. @toyota4x4canadaguy seems to have a mod solution for this, maybe we can apply some peer pressure? I ended paying around 7500 for mine in 08, I probably could have gotten a better price and I'm sure the sales guy smelled a n00b.
i've had sooooo many bikes, and this one is up there with one of my top picks..... have the fz1 in the garage now... my tach backlight never worked from the factory on the 6 i just now realised..... i wonderd about that
I have bendy indicators too! One day the whole bike will be made out of this stuff. omg, I'm gonna have an orgasm. By the way, nice pyjamas. I have a pair just like 'em.
hey nice vid, im thinking about getting one of these but cant decide between this or a ninja 650r anyone know which has more power and better performance?
Is the fz6 a comfrotable ride? I want a light, nimble bike, that can stop quickly, and turn on a dime. I have an old ass suzuki gr650 which will do just that, but lacks the acceleration I want. I want either an FZ6 of a suzuki sv650. What kind of fuel milage do you get if you don't get too wild with the throttle?
@ariel4more In my humble opinion, I rate this bike high in handling and breaking. The acceleration is excellent for my needs, although I'm not a track demon. This is not a racing bike, but on the other hand will not let you down on the highway. Most of my riding is highway, between 60 - 90mph and I end up getting about 50mpg.
Not sure, I'd recommend test riding a few different size bikes to be sure.
Here's how it played out for me - I'm 5'11'' and weigh about 200 lbs. I was initially shopping 250cc bikes as low-end and good to learn on. I was warned that after a short while I'd outgrow them and want more power. For my size and riding habits, this bike is PERFECT.
This may not be the case for you - so get out there try some out!
lookin good man i plan to get one of these as my starter bike, right now i just ride motocross of course on a yamaha also , looks like a comfortable sporty bike , and they aren't that bad of a price either =)
The handling is a lot more athletic on the FZ6. You can wind tighter curves..
Ride comfort is about the same so far (I haven't taken any long trips yet). But I have noticed on the interstate during a test ride, the FZ6 will easily get up to 80 when you think you're going 60. Lots of power.
I've heard that the under seat exhaust can get pretty hot after a while, making for an uncomfortable ride for the driver and/or passenger. Have you experienced this with your FZ6?
awesome bike... i have had mine over a year and just rolled past 10,000 miles. i bought it for 4200 cash, which i think is a great deal. it's as powerful a bike as you wanna get for a first, i get about 48-50 miles per gallon. comfortable riding ergos, undertail exhaust... what more needs to be said?
wow! beautiful! i really want to get a bike but i barely know anything about bikes! i so feel it in my spirit though, and man that bike is an inspiration! its dope & smexy as hell! thanks for sharing man
Thanks for stopping by - this is my first bike, other than riding mini & dirt bikes through fields back in the day.
If you're gonna make moves, I'd recommend taking the MSF Basic Rider course. They approach the course as if you've never sat on a bike before. Plus it gives you the chance to build up some confidence on a closed course with professional instructors. Very, very useful and worth the money.
I was a little nervous at first too - but I absolutely love riding now!
Nice bike im gonna be getting one this winter i wont have the money to buy it this summer. how do you like the speed? im 99% sure im gona get one i just dont want it to be slow
I'm still breaking it in, commuting to work a short distance so I haven't really tested the speed upper limits. It's often said about this bike that she shows what she's got at 7000K RPMs and up - so I have a lot of bike left to explore!
I'm 5'11" and weigh about 190 - so far this bike has plenty of speed for me: with passenger's too.
This bike is awesome! It's my first and has been perfect for me to get comfortable on. Go with the comfort seat for longer trips - otherwise, you will not be disappointed!
NICE BIKE

NightOwl30 3 years ago
Nice! Just curious, how would you compare/contrast the FZ6 & your cruiser on:
1. Handling
2. Ride comfort
brianvoss 3 years ago

I've heard that the under seat exhaust can get pretty hot after a while, making for an uncomfortable ride for the driver and/or passenger. Have you experienced this with your FZ6?

Yeah - on short rides it's okay. But after 30-45 minutes it definitely can become an issue.

hows this bike for a first bike?
and do you know whether oyu can get lower/shorter windshields for this bike cos i dont really like the stock ones. thanks.
N41MUN94 3 years ago
For me, it has been absolutely perfect. I'm 5'11" and weight about 190 and the size and power of this bike have fit me like a glove.
I'm not sure about the windshields question - I'd check with your local dealer - especially if they can order & install it for you.
