you know what was really cool was when he said about the drummers of the 70`s ... " nobody played the same " .... today it seems like everyone sounds basically the same ... all the metal drummers sound the same ...all the chops / fusion guys sound the same ...all the gospel guys sound the same ... there are exceptions obviously but it does seem that Dennis is on to something with his statement .

He is a great drummer yet he shouldn't talk shit about Steve Gadd. Steve wanted to express what he felt through the drums. He did that the best out of anything he did. And no, I do not think once Steve influenced a ridiculous amount of people, they missed the point of playing an instrument. Yet Dennis will always be one of my favorites.

Dennis is like that cool uncle with jokes....He's a really funny guy when you hang with him more than once.

I was chilling with Dennis at a private jam session/party and he talked to the people and I and D.C. said "Man each time I come to the Guitar center in Towson(Maryland) I see musicians look at me saying "Is that Dennis? Naw it can't be him what's he doing here?!" we laugh sooo hard because it's frikkin true.

But he's such a huge local guy that knows where he comes from!

So true...Met Dennis after a drum seminar in Connecticut. My drummer friend I was with knows him well. Dennis was cool and actually gave my friend all the Zildgian cymbals he was using. Lookers on had their mouths open.

Fine a show that was..Dennis made his solo with his triplet 1footHiHat-2BassDrum-hits routine going underneath a snare-roll that would get slower and slower dand..sloooooowweeeeeer...till there were almost 10 seconds betwen each stroke...and the pattern rolling underneath like hell.The tension exploded when someeone yelled "THIS IS WORLD-CLASS!!" into the silence..and the hall exploded in cheers :)))

I remember once dennis came to chill outside the venue he was about to play and he looked at me i looked at him, he knew i wanted to talk to him and looked as he was welcoming me to head towards him, but i felt like i was going to disturb him so i didnt aproach him. sounds like such a nice guy, i love his playing deeply, one of the greats certainly.
