Chambers is the king. Any time Bozzio gets behing a kit, sombody should come up beside him and literally BOOT him off the seat. He is so annoying, and what is with his 400 piece drum kits? .LOL The guy's a flake.
@number1saxophone *watches videos*.......um no. no offense, but you guys are kind of amateurish imo. The sax player (you, im assuming) squeaks about every five seconds and your drummer is mediocre. i know what you're saying, "oh you don't have an videos posted shut up troll" and that is true, but i guess we're just to lazy to tape anything. just saying. nobody challenges tony williams.
dennis is right most drummers sound alike nowadays its like mainstream rock or rap they all sound alike noone stands out any more like back in the early 90's and down besides that noone can every match dennis completely
ah.....wow....lol...he just continues to amaze me....he is one of the best drummers in the world over the past 25+ years....thats feels amazing to say in its self.
you know what was really cool was when he said about the drummers of the 70`s ... " nobody played the same " .... today it seems like everyone sounds basically the same ... all the metal drummers sound the same ...all the chops / fusion guys sound the same ...all the gospel guys sound the same ... there are exceptions obviously but it does seem that Dennis is on to something with his statement .
@queenday15 LOL you ever hear Virgil with a band? Never heard the pocket change some much through a song. Guy is hopeless. Great drummer, lousy musician
He is a great drummer yet he shouldn't talk shit about Steve Gadd. Steve wanted to express what he felt through the drums. He did that the best out of anything he did. And no, I do not think once Steve influenced a ridiculous amount of people, they missed the point of playing an instrument. Yet Dennis will always be one of my favorites.
@solarcow16 How exactly is that talking shit about Gadd? All he said was that during the 80's a lot of people wanted to sound like him, which is true. Bozzio agrees.
@solarcow16 he's not talking 'shit about steve gadd'.... f***ckin hell this isn't biggy and tupac, i suspect steve gadd's regard for dennis chambers and vice versa is in no way diminished by what he says here
If my local drum shop had exactly what I want in stock at a competitive price, I'd be happy to. But I'm not gonna settle for something that's not what I want or overpay just to say that I'm supporting some local merchant.
Dennis is like that cool uncle with jokes....He's a really funny guy when you hang with him more than once.
I was chilling with Dennis at a private jam session/party and he talked to the people and I and D.C. said "Man each time I come to the Guitar center in Towson(Maryland) I see musicians look at me saying "Is that Dennis? Naw it can't be him what's he doing here?!" we laugh sooo hard because it's frikkin true.
But he's such a huge local guy that knows where he comes from!
So true...Met Dennis after a drum seminar in Connecticut. My drummer friend I was with knows him well. Dennis was cool and actually gave my friend all the Zildgian cymbals he was using. Lookers on had their mouths open.
Awesome vid!!!I tried the Dennis Chambers snare @ The Guitar Center in Attleboro,Ma,& loved it!!!Prior to that, some time ago I got the chance to see a Terry Bozzio clinic @ Christo's in Brockton,Ma & loved every second of it!!!He was kind enough to sign my Zappa live from New York album.Thank you Terry, much appreciated!!!!!
I´m happy i saw Dennis on the Blue Matter Tour with Sco.
Quartier Latin, Berlin, ´87.
Fine a show that was..Dennis made his solo with his triplet 1footHiHat-2BassDrum-hits routine going underneath a snare-roll that would get slower and slower dand..sloooooowweeeeeer...till there were almost 10 seconds betwen each stroke...and the pattern rolling underneath like hell. The tension exploded when someeone yelled "THIS IS WORLD-CLASS!!" into the silence..and the hall exploded in cheers :)))
I remember once dennis came to chill outside the venue he was about to play and he looked at me i looked at him, he knew i wanted to talk to him and looked as he was welcoming me to head towards him, but i felt like i was going to disturb him so i didnt aproach him. sounds like such a nice guy, i love his playing deeply, one of the greats certainly.
Saw him in an airport about eight years ago. He was really humble. He'd just done a recording with Tommy McAlpine and only had great things to say about his guitar playing.
The drum channel is truly a great step in the world of drumming. Can't see Bozzio interviewing Chambers anywhere else. Just cool to see them chat about music.
By the way lets see a Pridgen interview just cause hes funny not to mention the shit
