  • I'm not sure why remakes are so popular in the first place? Do people just not like old movies? I love the original one. This one's okay, but why bother with a redo when you have the original. And don't get me started on Johnny Depp as Tonto.......................

  • I thinkI would make a good helen keller in a movie if they made another version...I would so go and auddition!! lol

  • Haaahahaha! Isn't that the blind school in Walnut Grove on Little House on the Prairie?

  • @1simaddict1 yes it is!

  • Why is everything backwards? That was on the left in 1962 is now on the right and vise versa. Melissa is way too old to be playing a 7 year old. And nowhere as good as Patty in the roll. This remake is disappointing. 1962 is way better by far

  • Very nice editing! I love this movie.

  • Well, I don't know.....Melissa Gilbert tried her best, yes, but she looks too mature to be playing a 7-year-old-girl; taller than Patty Duke and the emotional and dramatic punch isn't there, in this version. The 1962 version is by far the best.

  • @fisteberg how old is melissa in this? 13/14?

  • @jecka1982 She was born in 1964.So she was supposed to be 15 at that time but is as tall as Ann so it is diffcult to believe in the movie.Patty duke was a teen when she played Helen keller but she was short if you compare and she was shorter than Ann bancroft and her parents.Patty or Anna duke is short in real life and made younger than her age,so it was more realistic in my opinion.

  • It does kind of seem they re-did this just so Patty Duke would have the opportunity to play Anne Sullivan. What other reason is there? The original is brilliant!

  • @flowerofsilver Well Patty Duke did really show her versatility here.

  • Helen was 6 when Anne came, but now she's......14?

  • It's so funny in 1962 patty played Helen and now she is playing Annie

  • can you upload the full movie??

  • I keep watching the part where Helen smacks her across the face with that doll. EPIC!

    "End of the first lesson"

    04:38

  • i like the original sooooo much better. and why is6 year old helen keller as tall as her 20 year old teacher annie sullivan?

  • Patty Duke looks like Diane Keaton in this movie

  • Original movie is by far way better. Anne Bradcroft and Patty Duke are absolutly superb in the roles they play. So glad I came across the play in my british literature class, even though I don't enjoy reading this play really sparked my interest.

Rest in peace Anne Sullivan and Helen Keller

  • This does NOT compare to The Miracle Worker made in 1962 in black and white with Patty Duke as Helen Keller instead of the teacher, Anne Sullivan. Melissa Gilbert did not grasp the role no where near as well as Patty Duke did originally.

  • woh. i gotta watch this one. i had no idea she played in this movie

  • 0:26 - Wow! Melissa was so much taller, she could have really kicked some Duke butt!! haha

  • Melissa is an AMAZING actress, but I must say, she is too old for the role. I'd say the 2000 version was the best of the three

  • I love her acting- but I can only see Laura Ingalls.

...or Batgirl. Melissa Gilbert did a great Batgirl.

  • Melissa looks awesome as always.<3

  • Sorry Gilbert but you seem too tall and look to old to play this part but it is awsome to see Patty playing the role of Anne, after her best friend and co star played that part and she as Helen when she was a girl.

  • Comment removed

  • 4:43 pwned by a blind girl!

  • this reminds me of da original 1

  • melissa was hoooot when she was young!

  • nothing like how patty duke performed helen

i have patty duke movie and pepsi girl too not this one ?

  • @lovermusic79 You can get that version at eBay and Amazon and they even have it on here. It's the best version in my opinion.

  • god dangit, there all like the black and white one i saw in reading. only the acter was better.

  • can you uploade the complete movie??

  • i wonder if melissa sue anderson helped melissa gilbert with acting blind for this film...? it would make sense...

  • does melissa talk in this movie? or just act?

  • she doesn't talk because she is portraying a deaf & blind person...altho if you count her saying "wah wah" at the end she talks, in a sense.

  • Melissa is to old, she's as tall as whoever plays Annie.

  • Comment removed

  • Patty Duke played the role well, but she was too old for the part, as was Melissa Gilbert. Remember, Helen was only a child and Duke was a young teen.

  • Comment removed

  • waw.. wawang bata..

  • At 4:41 that must have hurt! OUCH!

  • Is anyone gonna post up the rest of the movie? I've never seen the beginning of this version.

  • One reason this movie just didn't work was that Helen Keller was a 6 yr old child when this took place. Clearly Melissa Gilbert is 12 or 13 yrs old here. She's as tall as Patty Duke. Just doesn't look believable.

  • seeing this makes me appreciate Patty Duke as Helen all the more--she wasn't afraid to get down and dirty in the role, and play the ungraceful, ill-mannered Helen who devoured cake and crawled like a monkey. For some reason Melissa Gilbert just doesn't seem to bring that home.

  • @lotsandlotsofbubbles ~ No she doesn't! TOtally agree! Well said!

  • patty duke once again

  • kinda cool that patty duke played helen when she was young and is now playing Anne Sullivan! I've never seen that version or this one the whole way through, ive only seen a more recent on that was made in 1999 or so I think.

  • Thanks for your response. I agree with you. You can see the whole 1962 version on YouTube. Not only Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke, but the entire cast is awesome. You really feel what they are going through especially the mother when she discovers Helen's condition.

  • Thanks! I shall check it out!

  • I'm sorry but the original is sooo much better than all the stupid remakes. I love Melissa Gilbert in Little House on the Prairie but she is just not believeable in this movie. Patty Duke is and always will be Helen Keller. And Anne Bancroft is and always will be Annie Sullivan.

  • Didn't Melissa Gilbert also do a movie about Anne Frank? I thought she did, but I never seen it. I don't like her in this movie. She is too old and awkward looking.

  • to 5277407: yes she did and it was another remake of "The Diary of Anne Frank" she played Anne of course and I thought it was pretty good although a bit weird since she didn't really look like anne frank.

  • I never knew this existed. Interesting.

  • I like the one with Patty Duke much better. It was more realistic. She actually ACTED like she was blind.

The actress here kind of acted like a person would if they were only temporarily deprived of their eyesight.

  • I think the one with patty duke was better . when i see the movie i still cry. I was 7ys old when i first seen the movie, to me malissa was almost as big as her teacher they could have gotton a 7yrs.old to play the part

  • wait.... is there a bunch of different versions? the only 1 i saw was way different.

  • I saw this version with a friend or maybe it was the even newer one but I think it was this one. I think she got the wrong idea of the blind from this. She thought they were dangerous or something. She didn't know anything! I love this story especially now that I have a blind friend and am writing about a blind character.

  • thats the real hellen

  • where??

  • no she died in 1969

  • Now I have watched enough eps of Little House on the Prairie to know that that house was used a whole bunch on that show. It was the blind school at one time.

  • Where is the full movie of this on U tube?

  • can anyone tell me the latest version of the miracle worker?

  • I don't know the year but one was made in early 2000 about 2001 it had Hallie Kate Eisenberg in it.

  • melissa is to old and big to play a 6 yo child i like the 00 version and i love the ending of the 62 verison alot better then this one

  • i agree. helen looks lik 8 in this verson...

  • but she's 15 not 8. LOL. Mellisa Gilbert is 15 in this movie.

  • Yes i know, Patty Duke is now Anne Sullivan. But i like only Anne Bancroft as Miss Sullivan, not Patty Duke. But as Helen Keller is Patty Duke perfect!!

  • I agree.. I've just seen 1962 version and I cry like a child at the end... Helen Keller is here Melissa Gilbert.. the famous Laura in "the little house on the prairie" eheheh

  • No no, 1962 version is better. I love Anne Bancroft as Anne Sullivan and Patty Duke as Helen Keller´. This film is good, but 1962 version is the best!

  • yeah but the same actress who played in 1962 version Helen Keller is now Miss Sullivan.. this created an exciting atmosphere

  • who is patty duke in this? is the teacher or the blind girl?

  • The teacher - she was the child in the original with Anne Bancroft as the teacher - this was made in 1979 so Patty must have been around 25 or so.

  • i like the 1962 version better.

  • Yes I agree

  • i thought this movie was in black and white?

  • The original version was in black and white. Patty Duke, who plays Anne Sullivan in this, played Helen in the earlier version.

  • 4:41 is the best!!!!! hahahahahahahah

  • Goodness, Melissa Gilbert looked HUGE next to little Patty Duke. Duke is only about 5' 1" anyway.

  • when will u uplode the full movie frum 1940......sumthin

  • You mean 1962.

  • omg i never knew Melissa Gilbert played in this...thank you so much!! does anyone know if the full movie is on here?

  • I like the other movie better Annie was much bettter

  • I like Anne Bancroft too

  • I taped this version from television a long time ago. I wish I would have kept it. I wonder if this version is on dvd.

  • amazon(movies)has everything babe!!!!

  • so kind! I would characterized most movies and TV shows today as juvenile vulgar garbage!

  • yea, I actually remember when movies like this would come on, on a daily basis!

  • thanks sooooooo much for posting this, totally speeded up my assignment..

  • ya i no eh

  • wait... so who's playing hellen. That almost looks like Melissa Gilbert?

  • It is melissa Gilbert !!

  • That is Melissa Gilbert playing Helen Keller

  • And Patty Duke playing Anne.

  • it is read the title

  • this is such an amazing thing think of how bright helen was i love this video!

  • this is such an amazing thing think of how bright helen was to figure out that stuff i love this video

  • in the beginning i thought she cant hear or see so when Annie slammed her suit case how could Helen hear the noise???

  • she didn't hear it...she felt the bang as it hit the floor.

  • I like this, except for the fact that Helen is supposed to be six... not 13!

  • patty was the first helen!

  • ThIs MoViE Iz SoOoOoO fReAkIn "AwEsOmE"..i LoVeD iT.<3

  • omg i just realized that annie sullivan is played by patty duke, who played helen keller in the original film!

  • i wish some one would post the whole movie

  • i agree with cuzifeellikeit18 mellisa is a great actress. i have also scene mellisa in little house on the prarie so i already new how great of an actress she was but wow!!!!! it must be hard to act like a deaf, blind, and cant talk child!!!! bravo to mellisa!!!!

  • Yeah, I saw her on little house on the prairie too! She started out good and got even better!

  • ya i know she did get better as she got older. in my appinion mellisa gilbert was born to be an acctress!!!!!

  • ya!!! she did only get better and better she got older. in my oppinion mellisa gilbert was born to be an actress!!!!

  • Melissa Gilbert is such a good actress!!

  • Melissa is, in fact, 4 inches taller than Patty.

  • i think she is coordinated cuz her parents dress her.

  • why is she wearing glasses she's blind lol

  • Annie was blind, but she had nine operations to repair her eyesight. However, she had dark glasses because she was sensitive to light. Helen wears her glasses, her hat, and jacket when she studies her things when they first meet. Hope that answers your question.

  • I like its video because I am deaf! ! !

The Miracle Worker It is better! ! !

  • Sorry but Patty Duke and Hallie Kate Einseberg however her last name is spell it, are so much good, Meli still good but not convicing.

  • please don't swear

  • This version sucks! The original was so much more better, with 2 Oscar winning preformances. Patty Duke and Anne Bancroft were so much better in the original. Melissa Gilbert sucks.

  • i love the part where she hit the women in the face with the doll that shit was funny as hell

  • skips a lot of parts. Well in the script it has more parts.

  • Why didn't Helens parents teach her good table manners? Why didn't she like Mrs.Sullivan in the first place?

  • idk, i guess they were just babying her/spoiling her.

kinda like a lotta parents lol

  • what the? this isn't the original with Patty Duke. and this girl looks like she's 14 or 15. Helen is sapossed to be 7 when all of this happens. this is so weird. don't lie about the people who are in it though. this is not the orginal. it's a totally different version that i knew nothing about.

  • No, it isn't the ORIGINAL with Patty Duke.

It is the REMAKE with *Patty Duke*.

She's playing Annie Sullivan. Melissa Gilbert (from Little House on the Praire) is playing Helen.

The video poster (rudolfo4711) clearly says this is the 1979 version - and never mentions this being the original or Anne Brancroft or anything else about the 1962 version.

    Therefore rudolfo4711 is NOT lying.

Pay attention and stop accusing people of trickery - maybe then you won't be so confused.

  • Thanks and I'm sorry. I guess I was not paying good atention. I still don't get why this girl is so tall and looks so old for the role. but oh well.

  • who starrs in this?

  • Read the video description?

  • Patty Duke and Melissa Gilbert

  • I like annie sullivan! She's cool!

  • I have this movie.

  • Melissa Gilbert, by then already very famous, owned the rights to the tv version, according to Patty Duke's biography.

I adore Patty Duke, and nobody could out-do her as Helen. And in the same vein, Anne Bancroft as Annie Sullivan was perfection.

Haha, the seventies - all that makeup on Patty Duke......

Little known facts - the real Helen Keller was very intelligent, learned to speak, and also supported communism (when many Americans still did)

  • Is it just me or is it that that girl looks just like JoJo Levesque? (the singer)

  • It's just you. ;-)

  • As much as I like Melissa Gilbert in Little House, she just doesn't give Helen the same depth as Patty Duke did.

  • Yes, I don't think anyone could come close to Patty's Helen. But Melissa is still good.

  • How old was the girl who Played Helen? She looks to old to play Helen...Helen was only about six or seven when she met Annie...

  • Yeah, she's 16 and Helen was supposed to be 6...anyway,it is a difficult part even for a 16 year old,so...

  • Yeah...but Patty Duke was around that age too wasn't she? She was smaller though so it was a little more realistic :D

  • Yeah, I guess she was :D

  • How old was the girl who Played Helen? She looks to old to play Helen...Helen was only about six or seven when she met Annie...

  • From what I've heard, the playwright changed Helen's age to twelve so an older actress could fill in the role as it would be too complicated for a six-year-old to pull off. The same kind of thing was done for the characters of Alex Kinter in "Jaws" (1975) and Claudia in "Interview with the Vampire" (1994). ; )

  • this stinks like

  • wow, that's ann bancroft?! unbelievable. i saw her from the graduate.

  • ann bancroft is not in this film i dont think...she was in the original movie playing annie sullivan. But here patty duke plays annie sullivan

  • In the first Miracle Worker Patty Duke played Helen Keller. In this one Patty Duke is now the teacher.

  • where can i watch the whole video? pls reply! tnx!...

  • its nice to see melissa gilbert in a different light here other than her role as laura ingalls.

  • I don't know why they bothered remaking this film.

Patty Duke (as Helen) and Anne Bancroft (as Annie Sullivan) were marvellous in the original, but Melissa Gilbert gives a sluggish performance here.

  • so wait, annie in this version played helen in the old version when she was young.

  • Yes, Patty Duke was Helen in the first film, and in this film she played Annie Sullivan to Gilbert's Helen.

  • that is really cool. thanks 4 da info

  • Helen is supposed to be seven years old.

  • I like Melissa Gilbert. But the original movie was much better. Patty Duke plays the part of the teacher in this movie. In the original she played the part of Helen Keller and became the youngest actress to win the Academy Award for Best Actress. She was totally convincing in that role.

  • man it must be horrible being blind and deaf. its bad enough being one of the other but both is just horrendous! imagine that, being completley cut off from the world and not being able to see and hear the most beautiful of things... so sad yet helen keller and all the other blind and deaf people out there still managed to live a happy life!

  • is this the disney remake of the film?

  • no. that one is the hallie kate eisenberg version which was released in 2000.

  • I hate my teacher. She made us watch this and take a test on it! :(

  • you are mean.

  • So you're calling me mean. How about we become friends so you can know about me better!

  • Also I really liked my teacher. I said that I hate my teacher was because she give us test but i don't really mean it.

  • What grade are you in? FOURTH!?!?!

  • You teacher wanted you to learn something? Oh no, how horrible! I have never heard of something so outrageous.
