Crowley was a spiritual, metaphysics man who studied and practiced a lot of ancient traditions. A little odd, yes. Perfect as a human, who is? Not a Satanist. The word occult means hidden and while it may not be 'Satanic', per se, God forbids dabbling with the occult (uncovering hidden knowledge or 'gnosis'). New age movements are driven by occult practices. Page WAS obsessed with Crowley, a professed anti-christ. He hated everything Christian and wanted to be the one to bring it to an end. I've always thought there was something in the mix. Yes there are accidents but come on, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to put 2 and 2 together. When you have that many accidents and some deaths within the context of a band it sounds a bit hell hound on my trail. @hadjicrack No, no. "Occult" is a Latin word which means hidden and can also mean knowledge of the unknown. But in the English language its generally indicates the supernatural. For example you wouldnt say "occult and seek" you'd say "hide and seek".

Whether he was practicing black magick is up for debate, but it is 100 % certain that he was into the occult. The album that he & Robert Plant made in the 1990's had the famed "crossroads" on the cover, where the Robert Johnson legend originated.

Great book on this on Amazon. "Fallen Angel" by Thomas Friend. Goes heavily into Crowley's whole thing. Some of the speculation is a bit off, but the study of lyrics(Kashmir, In the Light, Celebration Day, Battle of Evermore,Black Dog,etc.) are right on. Many of these lyrics were pure Thelema, and Page himself said he was a follower of Crowley. Page was a Crowleyite, and probably did Argentium Astrum rituals. I love the music, but I know what it's intent was/is. Can't deny the lyrics...
