The point is this: The mother of this little hellion

was facing a situation no parent should face alone. The father wasn't there. The policeman chose the least intervention and secured the

custodial parent/guardian's consent, and handled the situation effectively. There is no telling how many times this little monster has attacked her, and she acted correctly as a single parent. When was the last time a good sized child attacked you?

Many law enforcement agencies have a notion that tazers are "safe", Well they're not - there have been quite a few cases of people getting electrocuted (incl. an innocent Polish immigrant in a Canadian airport). Recent tests demonstrated that many tasers are prone to irregular discharges and life threatening to anyone with heart problems.

At least tazers are slowly being called out. Treating people, especially little children like cattle is inexcusable.

I'm not saying tasers should NEVER be used. If there is a clear threat to the officer, sure. Hower, they shouldn't be used on a whim. Obviously they're not as harmful as pistols, but there are very real risks involved in using this device

I wasn't there when the kid got tazed. But she was after all, only 10 and unarmed, so I find it very hard to believe that an adult cop couldn't subdue her without resorting to tazers

Note, there were actually 2 police on site. It would have been easy to cuff her with not much of a struggle. Yes, she has to be still if she is in a fit. She just had to be cuffed. They said their choices were tasers, caspicum spray, a baton, some punching, and so on. None of this is necessary if a person in rage is cuffed and restrained. Then let her calm down and try to encourage her to talk, find out what happened.

It is amazing how the authorities just don't know what is going on. With all their networks of cameras and internet access to every bank, credit card, e-toll, bus tickets and detailed information, this still falls through the cracks. As for the mother, I just cannot imagine why she'd do this. Both the taser mum and the pimp mum.
