GREAT MOVIE. brings a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes every time I watch it....and.that's about a dozen times.

two movies are comming on that are classics, mrs.miniver on saturday february 4 at 11:45pm central u.s time and after that The White Cliffs of Dover comes on rite after that february 5 2:15 am central u.s time

Irene Dunne filmed this movie during a break from filming A Guy Named Joe as Van Johnson recovered from an accident.

Irene was a wonderful actress and a beautiful human being! They don't make them like that anymore!

Van Johnson almost got fired from "A guy named Joe",but Spencer Tracy stuck up for him,and that's wonderful,but it's too bad that Tracy took such a instant dislike to Irene Dunne.He teased her to the point of tears,which I don't understand,since I've heard nothing but good things about her.

In a book written about Mayer there were details about the problem. Tracy did noy dislike Irene, he was very attracted to her and she was happily married and wanted no part of it! She was very straight laced anyway! They were great together but he tortued her. I can't even mention some of the things he did on this thread!

She went to Mayer in tears and said he must stop or I have to quit! Mayer looked at some of the Takes and Irene was great!

Irene Dunne never said a negative word about anyone, in her entire life! So she never said anything bad about Spencer but she refused to ever work with him again and he didn't like rejection!

Van Johnson had bad Auto accident and had to have a plate put in his head. He was laid up for 4 months. Tracy and Irene both wanted to wait for his recovery. They both did so without pay! Irene filmed part of White Cliffs during that time.

What a great Actress and person she was! I have all of her movies

@irishamrep I've heard mostly negative things about Spencer in his private life... he was such an awful man sometimes! The only good thing was that he was such a good actor... but I read all about what he did to Irene. How horrible because she seemed like such a sweet human being!

I read a different book that said he disliked her straight away,which is too bad.I can certainly believe that Irene Dunne never spoke out against him later on.
