I'm new to motocross, but i do know how to ride a bike and stuff, but I'm 6'2 and 190 pounds. you think this bike would be a good one to strat motocross at?
I believe they claim none except for the turn signals and horn but I bought a 1998 450EXC and the front suspension was different. Out of the box the bike handled like crap off-road but eventually it got good. The XC was perfect off-road out of the box. I believe the EXC and XC models from 2009 and up are pretty close except for the light kits and emission crap. Some dealers won't tag the XC model.
Hey, I was woundering if you could help me. I have never owned a KTM and I am looking into getting into trail/enduro riding. I was woundering if you knew the difference between the 2010 450 XC-W and the 2010 450 EXC. I am looking to do a lot more trail riding but some road riding also, and being legal is a nice feeling...so any information and advice would help, thanks
You're in luck. I owned a 2008 450EXC as well. They've upgraded the EXC in 2010 to mirror the XCW a lot. I believe the forks, frame, triple clamps and suspension are the same. You need to verify that. Just look at the part diagrams online. The XCW is offroad ready right out of the box and is great onroad too. You'll have to mess with gearing with the EXC and possibly jetting. They put more emissions crap on the EXC as well which makes the bike run hot, you'll want to remove that crap.
I was able to get a tag for my XCW. Some dealers will do it some won't. If you're going to be doing a lot of street riding then get the EXC. If just dual-sport stuff go with the XCW.
That's about what it was. I probably pissed away 20 grand buying and selling these. I've owned them all, Bought new in the last 3 years: (2)250XCFW, 450EXC, 450XCW, 300XCW.
your in greater luck again. i am a ktm motorcycle mechanic the 2010 450 xc-w has extras such as quick removal pins billet gas cap and little things like that but the xc-w is a 2009 model ktm it does not have the upgrades such as different frame, suspension updates. the 2010 exc has suspensions updates frame updates but does not come with the extras and the exc and xc-w have the same engines, jetting and gearing. you should get a jetting kit and gearing kit with the exc
hey i've been looking for a new bike. have you ridin the 2010 ktm xcw 250 champion eddition because im goin to get started in enduro and i need the perfect bike to get me there
I've owned a '07 250XCW and a '08 250XCW. Excellent bike. I was able to get a tag (street legal) for both of them, but that will depend on the dealer you buy it from. Offroad the bike is awesome. It's light, durable, easy to handle, tracks great. On road I like the 450 better, it's just rides better at 55 mph.
No it does not but I added one for about $139.99. I believe that is one of the only differences. The Champions Edition has more "Bling" stuff like machined caps for certain things. The fan I bought was
Thank you, I guess I will buy the six days edition, because of the fan, rear sprocket and seat cover. I just don´t like the graphics of that edition, I love the Champions Edition graphics, but I don´t care about the machined caps, I have the old version of the fan on my bike but I think it wont fit in the XCW. Enjoy your bike, and upload some videos!
No, this is a 450 XC-W. The difference is this isn't the full street legal bike (even though you can get a license for it). This is more out of the box dirt ready ie. gearing and jetting are much better. I might be wrong but I think there is some differences in suspension as well. I had an EXC model and in my opinion this model blows it away.
dude put a pipe on that thing i bet it would make a decent increase in power that thing sounds choked up

The six days looks great too, I just love the Red Bull factory look

Does this bike have a fan cooler just like the 2010 450 XC-W Six Days Edition?
